2009 Live Pro Circuit Format

Regular Season Competitions
1. GoW2 Events will be separated into Open and Championship Brackets. Teams must lose 2 Matches in an Open Bracket before they are eliminated from an Event. Teams advancing to a GoW2 Championship Bracket need only lose 1 Losers Bracket Match before they are eliminated from an Event while Teams with Automatic Bracket Qualification for a Championship Bracket must lose 1 Winners Bracket and 1 Losers Bracket Match before they are eliminated. Teams eliminated from a Championship Bracket may be asked to play 1 or 2 Consolation Matches in order to determine their exact Event Ranking.
2. GoW2 Open Brackets will support as many as 128 Teams.
3. Teams will be seeded for all GoW2 Open Brackets using the following criteria in this order: Pro Circuit Rank Points, Online Qualifier Rank Points, and Teams with no Rank Points will be seeded randomly. Ties will be broken using the next available criterion, or randomly, if necessary.
4. When 16 Teams remain in a GoW2 Open Bracket, they will all qualify for the Championship Bracket.
5. GoW2 Championship Brackets will support as many as 32 Teams.
6. The top 16, eligible GoW2 Teams, determined by Online Qualifier Rank Points, will receive Automatic Bracket Qualification into the GoW2 Meadowlands Championship Bracket. Starting in Columbus, the top 16 eligible Teams, determined by Pro/Semi-Pro Status Rankings, will receive Automatic Bracket Qualification into their respective Championship Bracket. Semi-Pro Teams with fewer than 4 Players at the end of the Free Player Movement Period will be ineligible for Automatic Bracket Qualification.
7. The #1 seeded GoW2 Team will always appear at the top of the top quadrant of a Championship Bracket’s Winners Bracket. The #2 seeded GoW2 Team will always appear at the bottom of the bottom quadrant of a Championship Bracket’s Winners Bracket. GoW2 Teams seeded 3-4 will be randomized into 1 of the other 2 quadrants of a Championship Bracket’s Winners Bracket. GoW2 Teams seeded 5-8 will be randomized into 1 of the 4 quadrants of a Championship Bracket’s Winners Bracket. Special consideration will be made to ensure that the Teams seeded #5 and #6 are not placed in the same half of the Championship Bracket’s Winners Bracket. GoW2 Teams seeded 9-12 will be randomized into 1 of the 4 quadrants of a Championship Bracket’s Winners Bracket. GoW2 Teams seeded 13-16 will be randomized into 1 of the 4 quadrants of a Championship Bracket’s Winners Bracket. Should four or more Teams in a Championship Bracket, or three or more Teams on the same half of a Championship Bracket, disband or choose not to attend the upcoming Competition between the time of the Championship Bracket randomization and the start of the upcoming Event, the Championship Bracket will be re-randomized.
8. Teams that lose in the 1st or 2nd Round of a GoW2 Championship Bracket’s Winners Bracket must participate in 1 or 2 Placement Rounds to determine their placement in the Championship Bracket’s Losers Bracket. Teams that lose in the 1st Placement Round will must play in Placement Round 3. Teams that lose in the 3rd Placement Round will start in Losers Bracket Round 3 of the Championship Bracket. Teams that win in the 3rd Placement Round will start in Losers Bracket Round 4 of the Championship Bracket. Teams that lose in the 2nd Placement Round will start in Losers Bracket Round 5 of the Championship Bracket. Teams that win in the 2nd Placement Round will start in Losers Bracket Round 6 of the Championship Bracket.
9. Teams will be seeded for the GoW2 Meadowlands Championship Bracket using the following criteria in this order: Online Qualifier Rank Points and Open Bracket Seeds. Teams will be seeded for all GoW2 Championship Brackets after Meadowlands using the following criteria in this order: Pro Status Ranking, Semi-Pro Status Ranking, Pro Circuit Rank Points, and that Event’s Open Bracket Seeds. Teams earning Automatic Bracket Qualification will be seeded ahead of Teams advancing from the Open Bracket. Teams that finish the Open Bracket without losing a Match will be seeded ahead of Teams that lose a Match in the Open Bracket. Teams that lose a Match in the final Open Bracket Winners Bracket Round will be seeded ahead of Teams that lost a Match in a prior Open Bracket Winners Bracket Round.
10. The top 48 Teams in each GoW2 Event will receive Pro Circuit Rank Points. Pro Circuit Rank Points are awarded to each Player individually and move with the Player should they leave the Team. If a Team fails to attend all of their Matches, the Players will not receive Rank Points.
11. The top 8 GoW2 Teams, determined by cumulative Pro Circuit Rank Points immediately following each Competition, starting after the Columbus Competition, will earn Pro Status. GoW2 Teams ranked 9-16, determined by cumulative Pro Circuit Rank Points immediately following each Competition, starting after the Columbus Competition, will earn Semi-Pro Status. Ties will be broken by each Team’s Ranking in the most recent Event. As long as Teams maintain at least 2 Players from the previous Competition’s Roster, they will also maintain their Pro/Semi-Pro Status Ranking, even if Roster changes result in a change to the Team’s Pro Circuit Rank Points total. If a Team disbands, all lower ranked Pro/Semi-Pro Teams will move up 1 spot, however, this won’t result in a Semi-Pro Team earning Pro Status or an Amateur Team earning Semi-Pro Status. Players who are members of Pro Teams, but have fewer than 250 Pro Circuit Rank Points will not be given Pro Status.

National Championship Competition

Teams eliminated from the Championship Bracket may be asked to play 1 or 2 Consolation Matches in order to determine their exact Event Ranking.

2009 Live Event Registration

All Competitions
1. The Leader of Pro Circuit Online Qualifier Teams with a Reserved Team Pass will be given at least 1 week to purchase it prior to Registration opening to the public.
2. Registration, for each Event, will open to the public at 7 PM ET on a Wednesday roughly 1 month prior to the upcoming Competition.
3. Registration will close at 11:59 PM ET on the Monday, 4 days prior to the upcoming Competition.
4. The Entry Fee will be $200 for a GoW2 Team Pass.
5. All Players on Teams that finish in the Top 16 of a Regular Season Competition will receive Free Entry into the corresponding Event at the next 2009 Competition.
6. Starting with the Dallas Competition, 8 Team Passes for each GoW2 Championship Bracket will be reserved for Semi-Pro Teams. Semi-Pro Teams will be given at least 1 week to purchase their Reserved Team Pass.
7. Teams looking to start in the Championship Bracket of the GoW2 Meadowlands Event must submit their Team Roster to MLG (email jnelson@mlgpro.com) by 5 PM ET on Thursday, March 5th. The Top 16 GoW2 Meadowlands Teams will make up the preliminary list of Teams that will start in the Championship Bracket of the GoW2 Columbus Event. These Teams will be considered Amateur Teams, but will be governed by the Pro & Semi-Pro Team Management Rules. Teams are welcome to submit their Roster to MLG (email jnelson@mlgpro.com) by 5 PM ET on Thursday, May 7th for an opportunity to start in the Championship Bracket of the GoW2 Columbus Event should a Top 16 Team disband or choose not to attend the upcoming Competition. Teams chosen to start in a Meadowlands Championship Bracket are locked and can only be changed if a Player is unable to attend or physically unable to play at the upcoming Competition. If a Team submits a Roster, but isn’t chosen to start in a Championship Bracket, it will be allowed to make Roster changes up until the Registration Deadline.
8. GoW2 Amateur Teams looking to start in their upcoming Event’s Championship Bracket must submit their Team Roster to MLG (email jnelson@mlgpro.com) and complete their Team in the Team Builder by the end of the Free Player Movement Period (Anaheim: 5 PM ET on Thursday, October 8th). Teams will be chosen and ranked in a queue based on cumulative GoW2 Pro Circuit Rank Points. Ties will be broken by cumulative Online Qualifier Rank Points or randomly if necessary. Teams chosen to start in the Championship Bracket are locked at the end of the Free Player Movement Period and can only be changed if a Player is unable to attend or physically unable to play in the upcoming Competition. Teams chosen to start in the Anaheim Championship Bracket are also locked for the National Championship Competition. However, Teams chosen to start in the Anaheim Championship Bracket that are ranked outside of the top 16 after the Anaheim Competition will no longer be locked for the National Championship Competition.
9. If an Amateur Team chosen to start in the Championship Bracket is, at any time before the start of the upcoming Event, left with fewer than 2 Players from their submitted Roster, the Team will be removed from the Championship Bracket.
10. If a Team submits a Roster for Championship Bracket consideration, but isn’t chosen to start in the Championship Bracket, it will be kept in a queue of Teams that may be selected to replace a Championship Bracket Team that disbands or chooses not to attend the upcoming Competition between the time of the Championship Bracket randomization and the start of the upcoming Event. If a Team is selected to replace a Championship Bracket Team, it will be given the #16 Seed. Other Championship Bracket Teams may see their Seed rise by one, however, all Teams will keep their position in the Championship Bracket. The replacement Team will take the position of the Team that they replaced. Teams that are not chosen to start in the Championship Bracket are allowed to make Roster changes up until the Registration Deadline (Anaheim: 11:59 PM ET on Monday, November 2nd). However, such Teams must maintain at least 2 Players from the submitted Roster in order to stay in the queue. Also, Teams must maintain at least 75% of their submitted GoW2 Pro Circuit Rank Point total in order to keep their ranking in the queue. Teams that don't maintain at least 75% of their submitted Rank Point total will be re-ranked in the queue according to their new Rank Point total.
11. If a Championship Bracket Team disbands or chooses not to attend the upcoming Competition between the time of the Championship Bracket randomization and the start of the upcoming Event and there are no Teams in the queue, the Team that would’ve received the #1 Open Bracket Seed will be selected to replace the Championship Bracket Team at the Registration Deadline. If the GoW2 Championship Bracket is incomplete at the end of the Free Player Movement Period and there are no Teams in the queue, the Team(s) that would’ve received the top Open Bracket Seed(s) will be selected to start in the Championship Bracket at the Registration Deadline.
12. If a Championship Bracket Team chooses not to attend the upcoming Competition, but fails to notify MLG prior to the start of the Event, a Team will not be selected to replace them in the Championship Bracket.
13. Pro Teams must notify MLG (email jnelson@mlgpro.com) of their attendance by 5PM ET on the Friday, three weeks before the upcoming Competition.
14. After obtaining a Team Pass, all Teams must use the Team Builder to set their Roster of Players, plus Coach if applicable, before Registration closes.
15. Players and Coaches, 18 years of age and older (19 years of age and older in Alabama and Nebraska), will be able to accept the Terms of the Media Release Form upon accessing the Team Builder for their first 2009 Live Event.
16. Players and Coaches who are unable to accept the Terms of the Media Release Form upon accessing the Team Builder must bring a signed copy of the Media Release Form and Parental Consent Form to Check-In.
