Awesome sweet blog numero dos

Hello all my fun loving MLGers! It's been awhile since I've blogged and I apologize about that. I want to keep you guys updated with my team and my life so starting next month I will have 1 video and written blog a week! Many of you are probably saying to yourself wow that sounds hysteria sweet but a little boring at the same time, fear not my colleagues because every video and written blog will have a segment called " Neighbors Neighbor time". Where 1 person each week will win 1 hour of game time, 1 hour of lessons, and a add to my friends list! Not only does it stop there. If your a girl, You will recieve 1 hour of neighbor time at any MLG! pretty good deal. Anyways I for the first part of this blog i want to rant about this last season and how depressing it was. So grab your popcorn and tissues ( for tears ) because this is about to get sentimental.
CPL- This really has nothing to do with MLG whatsoever but I just want to let you know the lesson I learned from going to another " big money " tournament. The CPL are a bunch of bad people, particularly Angel Munoz. He and his company scammed hundreds of kids their prize money which is why he sucks so much. Me, ogre2 and Strongside prize money combined, roughly racked up about 50,000 dollars. Unfortunately though we didn't see any of the money we won. But we did see the money we spent to go to the tournament which cost me about 400 for the flight, 200 a night for the hotel for three nights and the 400 dollar entry fee go right down the river into the ocean and then rain upon my head. Anyways moral of this little segment is to never go to any other big tournaments besides MLG because all the others fail, or they own you really really hard.
Meadowlands- This was a very sad tournament for me. I was on Str8 Rippin at the time and we were the number 1 ranked team. We also acquired a sponsorship during the off-season which was Dr Pepper. Going into Meadows I was pretty nervous. We practiced hard so i wasn't really concerned about how we would preform but I was more worried about living up to everyones expectations. Unfortunately, we did not and we ended up placing 5th. I also got out brd when I had lots of Over shield and karma had 0 shields which sucked but it was because I was not used to the Viewsonic Televesions that MLG switched to. I practiced on a 20 inch tube T.v. at my house so switching to the Viewsonic felt so foreign to me. The delay was the main issue and I also didn't know what sensitivity to play on since it felt more sluggish to me. Anyways thats my lame excuse and i got owned regardless. But after this tournament I was determined to practice and become better than the average joe.
San Diego- The most dominating tournament any team will ever have in halo 3. When Legit, Elamite, T2, and myself are all on not even Dr. Manhattan can beat us. We played amazing at that tournament only dropping 1 game which was sheer luck that we lost. I had a great time at San Diego and it was nice being on top again.
Orlando- This tournament was a month after SD which is pretty quick but being on top again you tend to slack off which I kind of did, I went to Mexico with my buddies for my senior trip which lasted a week. Then when i got back, me and Elamite flew to New York for the US championship which was awesome. It was a 50,000 first prize and me kyle and fearitself were very confident one of us were going to win so whoever won we decided to split it three ways. Kyle ended up winning and i ended up taking second. Anyways we flew back to Orlando and ended up placing 2nd. That whole team hates losing but we felt pretty good for how much we practiced.
Toronto- NEIGBOR SHOCKS THE WORLD!!! I left Str8 to go to FB which didn't turn out to well. Again I'm going to explain the whole team changing thing a little later in the blog but for now its all tourney talk. We played well our first tournament together. Placing 3rd wasn't to bad considering they had a 5th and 7th placing before i joined. Anyways it was really a dream come true teaming with the Ogres and side. They were who I wanted to play like when I was a young noob especially Ogre 2.
Dallas- Another disappointing 3rd place finish. We beat tD to face Str8 in the winners finals but we just didn't have enough to beat them.
Vegas- A tough outing, our first time placing out of the top 3. We took 4th losing to instinct and carbon. I want to apologize to Mike, Tom, Dan, and Andrew for how I acted at Vegas. I wanted to win so badly that once we lost to Carbon I threw in the towel. I gave up on myself and my team. It was very immature of me but I did learn from it and I am sorry. Not many people know this but after we lost to carbon when we were playing classic I told my team I didn't even care if we won or lose, i was acting like bitch neighbor instead of fun happy loving neighbor and it did cost us.
:D The whole Str8 FB thing :(
Here is the 100 percent Mason Cobb truth behind the whole ordeal. After Orlando FB dropped Walsh and asked Elam to team. Realistically I really thought no one from our team would join up with the failing FB. They had their worst two placings ever and it just seemed like they were going down hill. But Kyle was actually considering it. At the time, being young and stupid ( which i still am just not as stupid ) I took it personally. I considered the str8 team my family. I love every single one of them and it really baffled the hell out of me that Kyle was considering leaving. So when I called Kyle and told him not to do it, he said he'd stick with me and that was that. The next day Og 2 called me and asked If i'd join I told him no and I was not thinking at all about joining. Then throughout the day I recieved text messages from Mantrain and Og2s girlfriend persuading me to join and I would get phone calls and such to the point where I actually called t2 and told him about it. He asked me if he should call them to tell them to lay off and i told him that he didn't need to. While this was going on, the MLG community was hailing me as one of the best players which really got to my head. It made me think of the possibilities if I joined FB. To be the savior of the dying legacy sounded pretty nice to me, but I had a good thing going with Str8. The next day I got a text from Og2 saying that Gilbert would give me a 15,000 bonus If I joined and also the possibiltiy of getting a redbull contract ( I didn't get either ). This is when i let my stupid blind side of my mind take over and I just thought of all the greatness that could come. I would be able to pay for school very easily and again I had the chance to be a savior to the FB fans. So looking at it like that and then adding in the fact that Kyle was going to do it made me do it. I really didn't sit down and realize what I was doing everything went by so fast without me really thinking at who could be hurt by this. So I just want to say sorry to Bryan, Tom and Kyle. You guys know I had no intention at all to damage our friendships and i know it will never be the same but i do love you all very much and I am so happy you guys had an incredible season last year I was rooting for you all the way.

NEIGHBORTAGE!!
I really have always wanted to make a montage and I'm proud to say I'm not going to be lazy anymore and make one! And let me tell you something this montage will be like no other montage in the history of montages. I'm not saying you'll see the coolest clips ever even thought there are some, but It will be a montage like no other!
In other news this part of the blog will be where i answer questions from a thread i made a couple weeks ago which you can see be clicking this http://www.mlgpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=226190&highlight=neighbor
Submitted by SkootPanda Q: How are you and your new team meshing? Does it feel more natural than other teams you've joined in the past?
A: We are meshing very well, i'm very happy to be on this team. It feels more natural joining this team. With FB it didn't really click. I chilled with strongside all the time, but I didn't really hang out with Dan and Tom as much. S

What’s going on with you and FB? I kind of feel some tension that you aren't working out on Final Boss, I kind of get this attitude that you just "give up" Sometimes, but what do i know. What’s Final Bosses plans for improvement in future tournaments, example, Vegas. Thanks Neighbor
Answer: We don’t give up. I feel that as a team we all think we could be playing better. We will be LAN’ing twice before Vegas and we will also practice hard everyday before Vegas. I promise to all of our fans that for me to improve my game I will play no less than 60 games a day.

What do you think is your number 1 weakness or problem, as a team, and what are you guys doing or what are you going to do to fix it if there is any major one weakness.
Answer: I think our number 1 weakness as a team is letting other teams set the pace of the game. We need to be the team that sets the tone at the beginning of the game to the end. This is an easy fix, we have to make sure we have everything we need to do down pat so we can execute better.

1. Are you still happy with the move you made to FB, considering FB and str8 recent results? 2. Is it annoying not getting as much hype as you used to? (snipedown etc) 3. I’ve been watching your POV it seems you are playing differently under FB (like sometimes you don't go for sniper straight away), is this your personal choice or constraints placed by the team? 4. I know it seems like an obvious question but would you guys like a bit more support from the community/crowd, the way I see it at the moment is you guys are getting a lot of s**t from people but your taking the approach "what doesn't kill me makes me stronger"
Answer: 1. I am still happy with the move to FB, obviously I am disappointed that we’ve finished 3rd the last two tournaments but I am very motivated to win Vegas. 2. No it is not annoying to get as much hype as I used to. There will always be new flashy players that join the circuit that everyone loves watching. I just need to keep playing my game and work hard. 3. On str8 I knew exactly what everyone was doing at all times and what I needed to do. On FB I feel like I’m still adjusting to everyone’s play style and I’m confident we will be ready for Vegas. 4. Like you said we obviously want the crowds support and at Dallas we had lots of supporters which was very nice, But for me the people that hate against me or the team motivates me that much more to practice and become the best player possible.

How does FB feel about stepping into Vegas?
Answer: We know were the underdogs, so we have to practice harder than the top teams.

1. How do you remain so consistent? I was watching your practice routine during Orlando, but I was wondering if that's all you do to stay sharp. 2. What are you going to do in order to shut down Snipedown and his annoying bandwagon? 3. What changes (if any) would you like to see implemented into the current MLG game settings?
Answer: 1. it’s all about practice. When I’m at home playing on live I try 100 % all the time. You have to give it your all If you don’t you create bad habbits. 2. Snipedown is just a piece of a difficult puzzle. 3. I would love to see more weapons on the map like a plasma rifle or sword. I think it would make it more competitive and there would be more interesting play.

Why do pro players have no respect for European players?
Answer:We have respect for them I just think for them to call themselves the best they have to prove it. And for the European teams that have come to play in MLG’s none of them have placed anywhere near the top 8.

First question i would have is what do you have to say in response to what people are saying about your personal performance in Dallas. Second question would be are you guys doing anything different preparing for Vegas that you haven’t been doing for the past two events? Third question: a lot of people have been suggesting that the ogres playstyle has been holding back and limiting the play of yourself and strongside, do you feel this is true?
Answer: 1. I don’t care about what people say about how I played. I know how I did and what I need to work on. 2. We will be lanning with two teams and I think this will help us adapt to different play styles and situations. 3. I do not feel this at all. I feel with more practice we will be able to work on things that will help prepare us to win Vegas.

Are you considering switching to Astros because during tournaments I’ve been to, FB seems to yell a lot louder which is more distracting than just saying a callout into a mic? Also, what is FB going to do for their objective games since Slaying is a stronger game for you? I hope you guys can get a good practice in before Vegas and Win. Good Luck
Answer: Yes we should look into using Astros. When I was on str8 I was against using them because we thought we played better when everyone was yelling and getting pumped up, But after Dallas I actually lost my voice which is the first time that’s ever happened so yes I think it will make communication much easier for us. For our Objective games we just have to be on the same page, make sure we all know what were doing and we have to limit our mistakes.

Are you still happy with your move to Final Boss? ( I know you will say yes, if you don't it will cause so much drama, but give me a sign, maybe like a mistype or something in your answer which signifies you are kicking yourself in the ass for ditching your friends, leaving a dominant team in 08, and worst of all, betraying elamite, i cant believe you begged him to stay on Str8 so you could take his spot on FB.. Thats 100% douche, I don't care if it was for a million dollars) After Final Boss places 5th(or 4th) at Vegas, will you guys completely break up? Or do you plan on staying together after this season, even if things end badly...?
Answer: 1. Yes I am. 2. Well if we take 4th or 5th like you think, we would ask you to join us next year as our new team motivator, we would fly you to our lans have you put on one of your dresses and sit there so you could inspire us to get better.

How hard of a change was needed to switch from Str8 Rippin and team with Final Boss? And as a follow up. What changes exactly did you have to make in order for this New Final Boss team to be successful against these skilled top seeded team?
Answer: 1. The only thing that was difficult about switching from the two teams was getting used to their play styles. 2. I haven’t really changed anything about how I play, like I said it’s all about being on the same page as one another, that’s one of the keys to winning.

1. When watching a player have you ever seen something that's made you go "damn, I don't think I could pull that off"? If so who and what? 2. Along the same lines, if you had a heart attack and could take any player to take your spot in Vegas, who would it be? 3. Do you think that you are better at Halo 2 or 3, and what game changes account for the variance? 4. Who is the hottest player in the top 16? On and I doubt you can give a straight answer note, who would you consider the overall weakest individual player on your team excluding yourself?
Answer: 1. No I don’t say that, there are plays were I’ll say “damn that was sick” But never do I think I can’t pull anything off. 2. If anything happened to permit me from going to Vegas, I would want Perplexity to take my spot. He is the Most underrated player in the game and I guarantee you he stays focused he will be one of the sickest players to touch halo 3. 3. This is a tough question; I would say Halo 3 because my play style has transitioned very nicely from halo 2 to halo 3. 4. Perplexity. Like I said he will be the next great one. 5. The weakest individual player on our team excluding myself would have to be Jt Bravo. He needs to eat more protein.

What do you feel your pros and cons are as a halo player?
Answer: I have many pros but the con I need to work on is my mental game. I hate losing and while I’ve been on FB I get down on myself after we lose. When I was on str8 Tom was the one to say don’t worry about it move on and I would. And my team has done that I just haven’t really listened to them, so this is one thing I will work very hard on before Vegas.

1. Do you think Ogre 1 is playing as a really active leader, or not, I felt as if he could have done better? 2. When I watched the guardian TS game at Dallas between you and Str8 I noticed that you guys seemed to be playing Halo 2. The style was too passive, and I felt it held back your whole team, because like I said, FB has amazing talent, but I don't feel your performing to your max as a team, and this may be due to strat. Did you guys notice this, and are you changing your strats up for vagas? 3. What games do you play other than H3? 4. Which of the halo games do you like the most? 5. I have noticed since you joined FB, you seem to be taking Strongsides former place on the team, now he plays more like a support slayer and is greatly under performing due to this. What do you feel about this, you and SS have similar play styles, now that you fill his place do you think he isn't performing to his max potential? 6. I you could add any gametype/map what would it be? 7. and finally Liberal or Conservative?
Answer: 1. Ogre 1 is a great leader: D 2. There was nothing we could’ve done against str8. They had snipe set up and the only way we could of one is if we got the camos, which we did not do. 3. Super smash brothers, NCAA, MADDEN, and Tiger woods. 4. Halo 2 5. I think everyone has different play styles; no one has roles people some people are just better at things, I think with everyone practicing will be on top of our game at Vegas.

How did you manage your life with school, friends, sports, and gaming? And also how did you convince your parents that gaming is a good thing.
Answer: This was very difficult for me. I had to sacrifice a lot of activities to pursue my halo career. I quit my high school basketball and golf team to dedicate myself more to halo. With friends it wasn’t that tough because I would still hang out with them everyday and just play very late at night. And my parents have always been supportive of whatever I’ve done but this is the one thing they had trouble with since I spent so much time doing it.

- August 8, 2008 - 7:30am
I found out that Kyle declined and my respect for him skyrocketed, not like it was lacking before. I was just so happy to finally see someone who valued friendship as much as I do. So many times in this league I thought I had friends but in reality they were just snakes slithering behind my back. I think of my teammates as family and would do anything for them and Kyle showed me the care and respect that I've always wanted in a real friend.
- First off, Kyle only stayed on the team because of me. He didn't stay on the team because he " valued " his friendship with you. That is totally false, considering Kyle and I almost teamed with Fear and Sk at the start of this year, and Kyle and I have always talked about leaving the team. Also it's nice that you think of your teammates as your family, but I for one don't. Yes we have had some fun times but family is family, and my halo team is my halo team, there is a very BIG difference.
So I called Mason 4 times and got no answer at all. I got this gross feeling in my stomach and fell to my knees. My best friend had just stabbed me in the back. My father always told me never hate someone who is just trying to improve their situation, and if he feels like he's improving then so be it. Maybe Mason thinks we suck, maybe he think he carries, maybe we weren't as good of friends as I thought, or maybe he just flat out thinks FB is the better team. I couldn't figure out why he would ever leave the team.
- When you were calling me, I was either waiting for Kyle to call me back or I was on the phone with him. I wanted to tell Kyle first that I was leaving the team because i felt like Kyle and I got along the best. And yes, I felt like I was improving my situation, considering I'm able to go to college now which would of been much much more difficult if I didn't join FB, if that makes sense. And yes, I think FB is a better team, they practice hard all the time, not only when they place poorly.
All I ever wanted people to do was respect me as a player and this was my year.
- I think people have respected you much more than they used to. I didn't know you in your True Life days but the Tom I've known I have always respected and looked up to. This is what pissed me off when I was talking to you on the phone when I wanted back on the team. When you told me it was your year. THIS really made me mad because if anything it was our teams year. We all worked extremely hard to get where we were, and we all deserved the same amount of credit.
But my good friend Mason came through with a text. "Im letting you guys know that I am going to join FB. I wish you all the best luck." Thanks for the text man, 2 years of friendship and I get 1 text. Maybe next time I'll get an AIM message or better yet a myspace message.
- I left you a text because the first time I called you nothing was accomplished. Why would I call you again and say, Tom I've decided to team with FB and then have you start cussing. There was no point at all for me to call you, I know that by teaming with FB I was going to lose your friendship because I know you would take it personally. And I understand that, I told you in my blog before that i'd understand if you guys don't want to be friends with me, I would get over it. Halo friends aren't like my school friends that I've grown up with all my life. Yes you have to be friends with your halo team to perform well, and i never ever faked liking Bryan, Kyle or Tom but this was something I had to do. I'm sorry if you don't understand that.
Kyle seemed to be more upset than anybody because I just laughed it off. I could understand though, Mason begged Kyle not to take that spot on FB and he was the one that wanted to give him another shot on our team. Kyle went through the most stressful weekend that you could ever imagine. Seeing Kyle so upset got me pissed and if I don't get revenge on FB for myself it will be for him and Bryan.
- Ok you can say i begged Kyle to stay on the team. I guess I was the only one really worried that he was really going to leave considering you and Bryan both didn't try and call him to tell him to stay and just sat back saying not to worry about it. And I'm guessing Kyle was pissed that he wasn't offered what I was because he was 99% sure going to join until i called him. I've talked to Kyle a few times and you know we seem like were fine, maybe he's holding back or something but it doesn't at all seem like he hates me but who knows!
Mason was my best friend but I guess my best wasn't good enough for him.
- What wasn't good enough for me? Do you think i judge you as my friend based on your halo skill. I don't at all if that was the case. I just felt there were so many internal problems with the team that no one wants to bring up. And I'm not going to bring them up publicly but it just got to be too much for me.
To Mason: I don't know what to say to you, we've been through a lot. Maybe down the road we can become friends again but I just don't see it happening anytime soon. I know you made your decision hoping for the best outcome and whatever that outcome may be I want you to be truly happy with it. You were like family to me and it sucks things have to be the way they are but hey that's how it is. It may seem like I'm bitter in this blog and that's because I am. We shared a lot of great moments in life and I will never forget those. Good luck with your team, besides in Winners Bracket Rd 4, bad luck.
- The decision I made was the best for me for many personal reasons. We have had many great times and I won't forget those either. But i don't understand how you could consider me family. I love my family more than anything or anyone in the world. Even through the toughest of times my family has always been there for each other no matter what the situation is. I've had friends that weren't as close as me and you, that are recovering drug addicts that stole clothes and money from me yet i still care very much for them and try to help them the best i can. I remember one time during practice when of my best friends was at my house and he started having a panic attack and i had to quit during the middle of practice to call the ambulance. I'm pretty sure you remember this but i was scared out of my mind because i thought he was going to die and I've never been in that situation before, but when i called you after to tell you what happened, you were mad at me and thought I wasn't caring about practicing. I honestly wasn't going to say anything about you at all because i didn't want to start anything, but your blog really did hurt me, and these dumb kids that don't know shit about the situation have also added to my anger. You will be seeing an entirely different FB this tournament I promise you.

The big team change
- July 26, 2008 - 4:57am
Hi everybody! I haven't blogged since Meadowlands so I have soooooo much to write. First I wanted to talk about San Diego.A week before San Diego, I flew to Tom’s house in Syracuse to lan against the team The Influence which consisted of Lowkin, Defy, Twylight and Talent. It was great fun and It was nice getting to know the influence team better. They were all great guys and we all enjoyed ourselves. The Lan was good practice for me because I don’t have a view sonic at my house so I was able to practice on one at toms house. We won the lan 101 to 9 games which was a great confidence booster for us going into San Diego. Personally, after Meadowlands I was very, very disappointed on how I played. We placed fifth which wasn’t that great, but individually I wasn’t confident playing on a view sonic TV which showed. While I was at toms I played non stop whether it being 1v1’s with defy or playing with our team. I was trying to burn myself out so I could have the mind set that I prepared harder than anyone.
So after a fun lan, Bryan, tom and I flew to San Diego on Wednesday together from Tom’s house. When we arrived we checked into our awesome Dr Pepper suites. I wished I had pictures of the room, I think tom does, but the set up was awesome. We had unlimited Dr Pepper and yummy snacks for days. We also had 4 view sonic TVs that we didn’t really use besides tom, who played for 5 hours on Thursday night.
On Thursday we had a photo shoot for Dave Walsh’s clothing line Kineato. Usually photo shoots are pretty boring, but this one was great because the photographer was tons of fun. Friday was a pretty relaxed day. We practiced against Chilled reality in the Dr Pepper booth and we didn’t lose a game, and then we played against Instinct and we only dropped one game. The most difficult thing for me while at MLG’s is to sleep. Every night before we play I get so excited I feel like a kid on the day before Christmas.
Our first match on Saturday was against our friend ghost attacks team. At Orlando 07, we played ghost attack first round and he didn’t get a kill in one of the games. So we thought if we did the same thing this time maybe it would bring us the same luck! Unfortunately he isn’t as bad as he was at h2. He managed to pull a big 1 kill on ctf pit which is great. We ended up 3-0ing them and our next match was against Inferno. We beat inferno in the first game pretty handedly, and the next game guardian ts we made a great comeback near the end to win, and the third game, Pit hill, we won by a good margin. It was important to 3-0 them because we needed all the momentum we could get before we played against Triggers Down. The first game against TD was onslaught Flag. We didn’t have much control during this game but we capitalized on some of their mistakes and we also made some clutch plays. Game 2 was construct TS. We won 50 to 30 and everyone was playing well. Game 3 was guardian ball, which is one of TDs best game types. It was a back and forth game the whole time but we had some smart plays that ultimately gave us the W. I was so happy that we won, our team went back to the hotel, and Dr Pepper bought us dinner which was very kind. I want to throw a little shout out to Richard, Jason ,Robbie and Jay. These guys do so much for our team and it was great that we won because I felt like we definitely owed them something after our performance in Meadowlands.
Sunday drew near which is when you really have to crack down on your game and make sure your on the same page with your team. We warmed up for a while, and were preparing ourselves for our battle against believe the hype. We 3-0 them and now we were up against instinct in the winners bracket finals. I was confident that we would win because we played them in the Dr pepper Lounge and pretty much destroyed them. We 3-1d them in the winners finals and then in the championships we 3-0d them. It felt great winning another MLG tournament and it was such a great relief to win with our sponsors there.
Now it was time to prepare for Orlando. Two weeks before Orlando, I went on my senior trip with all of my good buddies. I went to Puerta Vallarta and let me say it was the craziest MOST awesome time I have ever had in my life. I was there for 7 days and it was a nice refreshing trip. Right when I came home from Mexico, I went to Orlando the following day to lan at Bryan's condo against Carbon. The first day we didn't lose a game but this was mainly because they had pretty crumby tvs compared to us. So we went to Best Buy the next day and they bought some MLG type tvs. We split games that day which showed that we really had to crack on our games. Unfortunately, the next day we basically got destroyed. Now I was very nervous because this was the first time we have ever really been dominated before.
After the lan Kyle and I flew to New York for the Us Championship. We had much fun while we were there, we walked the city, took the subway, and even stopped by the MLG office. I have to give my congrats to the Us Champion Kyle Elam. He was absolutely destroying everybody and I'm happy he won. The night before kyle and I left back to Orlando, we decided we wanted to make the best of our time while in New York. We went to The Phantom of the Opera with Ogre 2, his girlfriend Amy, Fearitself, his girlfriend Anna, and another Us championship competitor who's gt is Azeon. It was an awesome show and I'm glad Elamite talked me into seeing it!
So we flew back to Orlando Friday morning. We checked into our awesome Dr Pepper suite and just team bonded until Saturday. Saturday came fast and i was extremely excited to play. We beat the first two teams we played pretty handily, and now we were up against The Ambush. These players i give lots of credit to because not only did they have an amazing comeback in our game five match to win it, but they also inspire many new players. Nexus for example wasn't a well known h2 player, but he showed that with dedication and drive he proved to everybody that he is able to compete with the top. Anyways, after we lost, I was very disappointed. We went back to our room, ordered a movie and dinner and then went to bed. T
he next morning I woke up and texted Ray who is the pro player manager for MLG. I basically told him that we will win this tournament. Normally I don't say things like that, but I had the mind set that no team will be able to compete with us if were playing well. We played pretty well against the first couple of teams, we 3-1'd psf, we 3-1'd carbon, we 3-0'd fb and then we 3-0'd instinct. We made it back to the championships again which i was happy about because we came all the way from the losers bracket. But now we were up against a new TD with SNIPEDOWN. We 3-2 them the first series but in the first game of the second series, they won a big ctf onslaught which i think gave them a large amount of confidence which ultimately led them to 3-0ing us. I just want to give a VERY big congrats to SK. Not many new people know this but back in the 05-06 days SK and I used to be teammates. I always knew he could do it and i'm very happy for him . Also congrats to Hysteria and Fear you have both come a longgggggg way and now your some of the top pros. I also cant leave out snipedown, he is a very good player and he's doing very well.
So now this is the part that most of you are actually going to read because it addresses the team change situation. It all started with Kyle being asked by FB to join. When this happened i was freaking out because to me he was my closet friend on the team, and we always had a good time together. So i called Ray and i asked him a few questions like what are we going to do now and stuff like that. After the conversation i called kyle and told him not to go because we were the number 1 ranked team and we have lot of good stuff going for us and that he is the only reason i was able to stay sane while on str8. If he left, which he was very much considering, i would of been able to understand and accept it. Kyle and Strongside are best friends and have always wanted to team, and then you have the OGRES who he is very good friends with, come and ask him to team. He also would of received the Gilbert Sponsorship and the chance to revive the FB dynasty. So I was thinking the whole time while he was making his decision who we were going to pick up and who would fit best with us and then i thought about it and no one would ever be able to fill Kyle's roll on our team. He is the Only reason why we became a top team in h2 and he is the best h3 player in my mind. Kyle called me later that night saying he didn't join FB. I was very relieved and went to bed. The next morning i got a call from Kyle, he told me that FB was going to ask me to join. Obviously in my mind I was like why the heck would they ask me when they already asked my teammate who just said no. So I received a call from Ogre 2 right after Kyle called and he said that they were offering me the spot and to think about it. I told him i would even though i already knew i was going to say no. So later that day i told them no I'm not going to join them and that i wish them the best of luck. So they went on with asking players like snipedown and mackeo to team, but they let me know if i had a change of heart they will take me over any one of them. So even though i said no they basically told me that this opportunity is still available to me. Now let me explain something to you. Back when I was a halo 2 noob, i idolized the OGREs. The way they played the game and how they would just dominate their opponents was so fascinating to me. They have always been on the top team because they want to be and they don't settle for anything less. So I thought to myself of all the possibilities and the "what ifs" of joining FB also, Gilbert threw out some some pretty crazy ideas if i joined up with them. And to be honest, I was starting to lean towards teaming with FB. I wanted to be on a team where \the main focus was winning. On str8 i didn't feel like it was entirely there. So I made my Decision a couple days ago that i was going to join FB. I made my FB NEIGHBOR account and we scrimmed against TD pyrocys team. The first time playing with them it felt second nature to me. It was so much fun practicing, they are all very relaxed people which is much different from being on str8. I first called Kyle to let him know that I was very sorry. He told me he understood but i knew he was hurt. Next I called Tom. Which you probably know didn't go well at all. The next morning I talked to Kyle and told him i really felt bad for doing it, we always had a plan to stick together and we never thought we would actually split up. So i told him that I wanted to go back to str8. Which wasn't the right thing to do at the time. One thing I've learned is to think throughly about the decisions i make, not to jump the gun, which i did because i was caught in the moment. So then I talked to to tom and he said they'd talk about what they want to do. When I left str8 they asked snipedown if he wanted to join. Snipedown was very close of teaming with them, but ended up not to because sk told him that I might be re joining str8 so snipedown told str8 no. So t2 and crew talked and they decided that they will let me back on the team. I was happy because we were all cool again, but it didn't feel the same. And i knew it wouldn't be the same. After practicing with str8, I realized I needed a change. Even though I had great things going for me on str8, its not what I wanted. I wanted a new exciting challenge and I think the new str8, Instinct, and TD will be all be VERY good opponents. So, I called FB and told them i made a mistake and asked them if I could join. Unfortunately they just told mackeo that they were going to team with him but they told me that if I'm 100% they'll do it. I said that I am, and that I am more excited than ever for Toronto. We will be practicing very hard just like all the other teams effected by these changes and i guarantee Toronto will be one of the most exciting events this year.
I know this was a very long read but there are some things I must say. First, I want to say thanks to all the fans that have supported me and str8 rippin last year and this year, you guys are the best fans a player could ask for. Next, to Kyle Bryan and Tom. I'm sorry this has happened. You guys probably don't consider me your friends and I understand. I do wish the best for all of you. I also want to thank Dr Pepper. Jay, Richard, and Jason you all are great guys and I thank you for everything you've done for me while I was on str8. And to Tom, Dan, Mike, Andrew and Gilbert, thank you so much for this opportunity and I'm looking forward to start the dominance again. Lastly, to all the people that still support me, I am more than excited to be on this team and I promise I won't let you down.
Edit: To answer some questions, yes there were other personal reasons on why i joined FB that I rather keep to myself and no it doesn't involve money. Also, Kyle and I were offered entirely different offers to join FB. hope that clears some things up

Neighbor - Halo - Meadowlands 08
- April 27, 2008 - 10:22pm
So going into Meadowlands our team had the wrong mindset to win. We were the first seed and many people predicted us 1st place. Unfortunately we played absolutely horrible on saturday losing to carbon. We went into this series very nonchalant and it totally screwed us. After the match with Carbon, I was very dissapointed because i knew personally I wasnt playing to my full potential at all. So after dinner with our amazing sponsor, ( i'll talk more about them soon ) I headed back up to the room determined to bring it back on sunday and hopefully make a run at the championships. Our first two matches on sunday went very well. Our team 3-0d perplexitys team and Ambush. I was getting very pumped watching the final boss and instinct series. We played the lose of this match which was FB. This is a good and bad thing. Its good to think you could be the first team that knocks the ogres out of the top 2 for the first time but on the other hand, it also sucks that you have to play such a good team. Our first game was Onslaught ctf. They absolutely destroyed us this game, we were on spawn nonstop and we had no clue what to do. Brushing off that awful loss the next gametype was guardian ts where fb beat us 50-49. This was a hard loss for us but we were still determined to try and make somewhat of a comeback. We won game 3, pit king of the hill, but end up losing game 4 which was ctf narrows by 1 cap. We ended up placing 5th this tournament.
As many of you have already heard, our team is sponsored by Dr Pepper. I would first like to thank MLG for getting this sponsor for us, they have worked very hard to get this and I am truly thankful. I'd also would like to thank Richard and Jason for everything they did for us this weekend. These two guys both work for Dr Pepper and it was awesome that they took the time to come to the tournament and support us.I'd also like to thank Luke from Bungie. He flew all the way across the country to come watch and support MLG. Reading his blog, it sounded like he had a good time! Lastly, I would like to thank our fans that supported us the whole weekend. You guys are the ones that really make the tournaments feel special and I will promise you we will be 100% on top of our game at San Diego and i can't wait to see everyone there!
MLG Chicago!!!
- August 25, 2007 - 1:02am
I hope this blog turns out well, i just got my wisdom teeth pulled and I’m bored drugged up on vicodine. So I left Seattle Friday morning, my flight was delayed a few hours which wasn’t that big of a deal I arrived at Chicago around midnight and right when i got there i was greeted by my big man legit. He took me up to the room which was small as heck, we had one king size bed for a team a coach and a crazy man named Justin. Me Tom and a great lady Known as TOMAHAWK ordered some room service and discussed world issues. I couldn't really sleep on friday so me Justin and elamite decided to get some food. We drove looking for a place that was open and we found steak and shake! Which is really, really good.
So saturday began. I took a nice 10 minute shower and just tried to get in the zone , pep talking myself. We then went down to the venue around noon and had our team interview and then went to the pro players meeting which was just a good time. As some pro players raced to the venue to be the first to play in the players lounge Tom said the shirts were here. As most of you know these shirts are absolutely ridiculous. I met Adam and his stunning girl friend Molly in the lounge and we all received our shirts and put them on. These shirts made me feel cooler than cool. I’ve never really worn something so stylish in my life so it was a great experience! So Kyle and I went up stairs because we were already starting to sweat we changed and excitedly went back down stairs.
The 4s were about to begin and my good friend shyre finally made it out of the amateur bracket. I was so happy for him but what made it even better is we played his team the first round. After a tough 3-0 we played pain x. I cant really recall how the series went but it was a challenging 3-0. Then came the series we practiced the most for. We've told each other for the past few weeks that this will be a good tournament for us if we beat carbon. We know that saturday is the day to beat these guys. So it began middy ctf. i was nervous as hell. This was the first time I’ve ever played carbon in tournament play and I really didn’t know what to expect. Without the leader ship of my team I don’t think i would of been able to pull it together. We won 5-4 and Toms and Bryans clutch double kill return pumped us up so much and with that win it definitely eased my nerves. I told myself that they are beatable and that I’ve put to much practice in to let my team down so middy ts began and we totally crushed them it was like 50-35. the adrenaline was pumping knowing were one game away from 3-0ing the Dallas champs. Lockout ball is a fun game for me. We pretty much destroyed them breaking every setup they had. I was sniping pretty well and we were all playing well everything really feel in place, I also think carbons heads weren’t really into it. So After an exciting victory over carbon I was completely over whelmed. Fans were congratulating our team a lot of my friends were calling me, it was a feeling I’ll never forget.
The ffa was a disappointed for me. I really didn’t practice much and i didnt seem that prepared. I ended up taking 13th place :(. Walking back to the hotel room I was pretty disappointed so me Tom xena butterz and a ref I don’t really know watched spider man 3 then we watched 28 weeks later then! We watched meet the Robinsons. Most players try and get to bed early but I was still so excited I couldn’t sleep.
The next day we had to play the agency for the winners bracket semis. This was the match-up that I felt was 100% ours, we were coming off a 3-0 on carbon and watching them play in the pro lounge on Saturday I didn’t see anything extraordinary but I couldn’t underestimate them, they are all amazing players. So me and Kyle got down to the venue around 11 o’clock, are match was at 12 and we just warmed up in the pro lounge having a great time. Then they called us over to “mic” us up, which I really haven’t done before so I thought it was pretty sweet, made me feel more special I guess. As we were introduced I just felt the adrenaline flowing, before I play I usually go to the bathroom wash my hands and talk to myself a little bit. Our team wanted this series so much, the time and effort we put into practicing just made this whole experience even sweeter. First game we played was ctf sanc. I knew we were going to beat them this game, its one of our best game types and our team was on fire with the sniper, so once we had control of the sniper we’d usually get a flag cap. I went pretty huge that game, and Bryan definitely won us the game killing their whole team while they were running the flag back to their base. We won 3-2 with a pretty scary moment from Kyle, when he was a foot from scoring the flag he stood up and stopped moving then he got blained in the back of the head. Lucky we got a good spawn and we won the game!!! Next game was ts lockout. Nothing really went my way this game, I got raped. We lost like 50-30 unfortunately, but we came back next game which was middy oddball. Once we get setup in this game type its really hard for us to lose, the great thing about our team is any one of our players can just go off which helps our team build momentum. We won 5 min to 3 min which is a pretty large margin and we all played great that game. The final game was Warlock Ctf. This was the Most intense flag game ive ever played, so many people on each teams pulling the most ridiculously clutch plays, but I have to give it up to legit and Kyle, Bryan with their flag at our base and our flag at theirs, Bryan was able to kill 3-4 people coming to our base when he’d be the only guy alive, and Kyle made a ridiculous return to help us close off the agency. After the match I gave tom a big hug and celebrated with my teammates.
We were going to the winners bracket finals, which str8 hasn’t been to since Dallas 06. So its time to play fb. Dallas was the first time I’ve ever played them in tournament play which was awesome because I felt extremely comfortable playing them this time around. The only thing that really got to my head is the fact that we are in contention of actually winning an MLG which is one of my dreams and goals. I remember so many times in school day-dreaming about winning an MLG. Just thinking about it really gives me butterflies. So the first game is warlock ctf, I think we caught them off guard with our play style quickly 5-1ing them. Next was middy ts. And unfortunately we should of one this game. It was 48-46 and ogre 2 was in front blue and I was red 2, and I yelled he’s going to port up, but with the crowd getting louder no one on my team heard me, and he got a double kill which eventually was the tournament changing game. Game 3 was oddball lockout, even though we managed to handle carbon in that game type I think fb had a lot of momentum winning the middy game and we lost a lot. Fb won 5 min to 3:58. Game 4 was middy ctf, we didn’t really have anything going and they won 5-3.
So we drop to the loser bracket finals which is pretty cool because who ever we played we had a commanding lead over. Agency 3-0d carbon which was pretty impressive carbon usually is unstoppable on Sundays. So we had to play the agency again which I wasn’t to worried about, I was so content with being in the top 3 I wasn’t really worried about losing to them. First game was beaver ts and we beat them pretty badly It was around 50-30 both Bryan and I went pretty huge. Next game was lockout ball and I got a sweet killtacular at the start of the game but they ended up winning L. Next game was sanc slayer and that was a really close game. We won 50-48 and Tom had the clutchest kill that game, that probably won us the game he crouched beat down naded when naded had a shotgun. Midship ctf was a really close game, the agency won 5-4 with naded going double positive despite his two assists. The last game of the series was middy bomb. It was a pretty intense game the score was 2-2 all of them were dead and I was trotting the bomb into their base from pink side and victory spawned car side of the base as he put one shot into me I dropped the bomb and gave him the 1 2 neighbor and managed to get the bomb halfway armed until dying then one of my teammates finished it off. It felt great beating the agency again. Our rivals/ ex teammates, it was a good feeling going onto the championship with this brand new team.
So we matched up with fb in the finals and they walked over us, the games were semi close but they were just to much for us and our team especially me, I was burned out from playing so many games. So after interviews and congratulating fb, our team, xena and ray were treated to dinner by Adam aka def tuch, and his girlfriend molly. We had a blast eating conversating and such then we went back to the hotel room and meet up with some other halo players and had a great time in our room..
The next day me, strongside, shyre and tom were supposed to go to six flags, but with the weather being gloomy and some other factors we decided to order room service all day and watch a lot of movies. Midnight strolled around and me Tom butterz shyre and the great lammster went to drummers house, where we ate cookies and played video games, it was fun! Chicago was a tournament I’ll never forget I met so many great people and I had such a great time, hopefully Orlando will be just as great! Love mason
