Chicago: The Upset City

| Chicago is known as the Windy City, but over the past couple years, Chicago has taken on a reputation for upsets on the Boost Mobile MLG Pro Circuit. MLG Chicago 2007 was no different. Upsets abounded in every tournament except for Shadowrun (and that's only because Shadowrun had its debut in Chicago!). Check out some of the most significant upsets from the weekend: Halo 2 
Str8 Rippin shocked the Chicago crowd when they toppled Carbon
While we have seen Carbon lose in the "upset round" before, this match was simply astonishing to watch. Carbon were seen by many to be on top of the world after their unparalleled victory in Dallas. By contrast, Str8 Rippin were seen as a team of questionable capabilities, having made two huge roster changes in the short period between Dallas and Chicago. This match defied all our expectations, as Str8 Rippin not only beat Carbon, but swept them in convincing fashion. Check out coverage of the match. |
