Secret Weapon displayed their usual three-resurrect build and found themselves equipped only with pistols. TsK, by contrast, handed out to purchase rifles for the team, as well as two resurrects. In the initial standoff, Secret Weapon found themselves locked down, unable to traverse the open walkways and incapable of making effective long-range pistol fire. A charge led by Bucko served to tank the damage and allow his teammates to move into close range, where their pistols would be on par with Three Shot Killers’ rifles. Secret Weapon took the round and followed up with a series of solid plays to go up 4 – 2 on the game. Bucko and Furyk appeared to be playing well in tandem, while FinalMirage boasted an early 8 – 1 – 5 record.
Secret Weapon made a strong showing in Orlando, losing in the Championship Match
The next, and ultimately final game, was Pinnacle Extraction. Earlier in the tournament, we witnessed Infinite Potential implement a lower, ground-based strategy in attempts to counter Secret Weapon’s dual teleporting. In the finals, we saw a reverse of fortunes. Secret Weapon attempted to run three resurrects and set up low, but Gawdlike’s quick teleport to bottom center pulled the artifact out of reach. Without the artifact, Secret Weapon were unable to control the pace of the round and could do little to dictate the location of battle. Such, TsK’s teleporting picked Secret Weapon apart to take the opening round. From there, the two teams traded rounds up to a 3 – 3 tie. It was here that TsK took control, seizing the tournament by winning three consecutive rounds. TsK’s sole elf, ShenPanik, logged a 15 – 6 – 9 performance. |
