| Serving as an exact re-match of the MLG Dallas Championship, undefeated Infinity took on Vision in a showdown to become the first team in Gear of War’s short history on the Pro Circuit to repeat a Championship win. In a match truly fit for the highlight reels, Infinity eventually went on to become victorious over the current season points leader, and with it, become officially crowned MLG Orlando Champions. From everyone here at MLG, a big congratulation goes out to Infinity for their outstanding performance this weekend. Here’s a little insight as to how it all went down: As a continuation match from the Winners Bracket Final, Infinity came into the match with the odds in their favor. It’s arguable as to whether or not the 3-2 lead the team boasted from the very beginning played a role in their success. However, there’s no question as to whether or not they deserved the win. Infinity played to the best of their ability all weekend long, and it was clear that they weren’t going to stop anywhere short of the Championship Match. For the debut game, played on Mansion, both teams seemed to shy away from the Longshot. Not only was this a trend for this specific match, but it seemed to be a familiar strategy for multiple teams this weekend. Instead, each and every round was fought over possession of the Boomshot. Vision’s Bawabus had one of his many big games here, ending up with a total of 8 kills by its conclusion. Vision found success on Mansion by focusing less on possessing the Boomshot, and more on capitalizing on Infinity picking it up. Knowing full and well that Infinity would be heading directly there with the start of each round, the team adjusted their flanks to immediately down the first person to pick it up. With this strategy in hand, Vision eventually went on to win Mansion by a score of 4-2, evening the series back up at 3-3 in the process. |
