| The most turbulent Halo 2 event on the 2007 Boost Mobile Pro Circuit ended with new champions in Str8 Rippin. The Championship Finals started with a 3-1 advantage for Str8 Rippin over top-seeded Final Boss thanks to Str8’s win in the Winners Bracket Semifinals. The win over Final Boss sent the reigning champs to the Losers Bracket earlier than they had ever experienced. Coming into the continuation, most fans thought Final Boss would come into the match with a chip on their shoulders, ready to avenge their earliest defeat. After Game 1, that prognostication looked accurate. Final Boss sprinted out of the gates, garnering a 12-3 lead on Sanctuary Team Slayer. Str8 Rippin refused to let the game go, however, and over the next several minutes they eroded the lead kill-by-kill until the score stood 20-17, making it anyone’s game. Final Boss stopped the hemorrhaging there, however, and pushed to a six-kill lead at 36-30, at which point the game ground to a halt with both teams holding their positions, not willing to expose easy kills. When the action restarted, Final Boss churned out the high-quality slaying for which they are known, powering to a 50-35 win. Walshy chipped in with a 15-8 performance. Game 1 brought the series score to 3-2 and the crowd sensed a Final Boss takeover. |
