PRO CIRCUIT ONLINE LADDERS/PLAYOFF BRACKETS FAQ

Are the Online Pro Circuit components going to displace the importance of Live Competitions?
No. Live Competitions have always been and will always be at the heart of what we do, because they facilitate gaming competition in its purest form. There is simply no substitute for the Live Competition experience, and it will continue to be the most prestigious and highly rewarded platform for competition. By integrating pro-level online competition with our Live Competitions, we allow players to compete all year and let a vastly larger number of people participate.

Why are the MLG Pro Circuit Online Ladders and Online Playoff Brackets taking place on GameBattles.com?
Major League Gaming is the parent company of GameBattles.com and acquired the site for its excellent tried-and-true online ladder and tournament software. This makes it the perfect platform on which to hold MLG’s Pro Circuit Online components.

I already have a user account on mlgpro.com. Do I need to register a new account on GameBattles to participate in the Pro Circuit Online Ladders and Online Playoff Brackets?
No, your mlgpro.com user name and password will allow you to log in to GameBattles.com as well.

How does the Pro Circuit Online Ladder work, exactly?
Please refer to the Pro Circuit Online Ladder and Playoff Rules for complete details.

How do the Pro Circuit Online Playoff Brackets work, exactly?
Please refer to the Pro Circuit Online Ladder and Playoff Rules for complete details.

Is there a limit to the number of teams that can compete in the Pro Circuit Online Ladder?
No, the ladder can accommodate any number of teams. However, when the ladder ends, only the top 128 ranked teams will be invited to the Online Playoff Brackets, earning them a reserved pass for the corresponding Live Competition and the opportunity to greatly enhance their seed at the Live Competition.

If I compete in the Pro Circuit Online Ladder, but do not make it to the Online Playoff Bracket, can I still play in the corresponding Live Competition?
Yes, absolutely! You may still purchase a Live Competition pass when they are released to the public (dates to be announced). However, the only way to secure a reserved pass is to make it to the Online Playoff Bracket, so be sure to show up to purchase your pass online right when they go on sale or risk missing out! Also, keep in mind that as each Online Ladder ends, a new one will begin almost immediately, so you don't need to wait until the Playoff Brackets are over to get back in the action! Just register for the next ladder right away and give it another shot!

Can I enter the Pro Circuit Online Playoff Bracket without first playing in the Online Ladder?
No. The top 128 ranked teams from the Online Ladder upon its completion will advance to the Online Playoff Bracket. No other teams will be permitted entry.

Do I HAVE to participate in the Online Pro Circuit Ladders in order to attend a Live Competition?
No, but you will be missing out on the many advantages that the Online Ladders provide for the Live Competitions. The top 192 ranked teams will receive ranking points that will enhance their seed at the Live Competitions. Additionally, the top 128 teams that make it to the Online Playoff Bracket will earn a reserved team pass for the upcoming Live Competition. Keep in mind that Live Competition registration passes almost always sell out within minutes and competing in the Pro Circuit Online Ladders is the only path through which you can earn a reserved pass, allowing you to avoid the risk of not being able to snag a pass when registration opens.

If I earn a reserved Live Competition Pass by making it into the Online Playoff Bracket, how do I claim my pass and register my team?
The Leader of your Online Ladder team will own the rights to the pass and will have a one-week window (roughly five weeks before the Live Competition) during which to purchase or waive the right to their pass.

If I have earned a reserved pass for the next Live Competition, can I save it to use for a later Competition?
No, the passes earned in the Online Playoffs are valid for the corresponding Pro Circuit Live Competition only.

If I earn a reserved Live Competition Pass, do I still have to purchase it?
Yes. Team Leaders will have a one (1) week window to purchase the pass that has been reserved for them. Reserved passes that are not purchased will be sold to the public at a later date.

How many teams will end up getting Pro Circuit Live Competition rank points from the Online Ladders and Playoff Bracket?
The top 192 Teams will receive Online Ladder Rank Points at the end of the Playoff Bracket.

I found out about MLG halfway through the season. Is it too late for me to earn enough ranking points to get a good seed?
No. Each Online Ladder’s ranking points are worth more than the last, and Live Competition points are worth more than everything else. To be exact:

1 Pro Circuit Live Competition point is worth more than any amount of Online Ladder ranking points.
1 Online Ladder #3 ranking point is worth more than any amount of Ladder #2 or Ladder #1 ranking points.
1 Online Ladder #2 ranking point is worth more than any amount of Ladder #1 ranking points.

This means that even if you are just joining for the first time during the last Online Ladder, if you do well you can still earn a good seed for the next Live Competition. The only thing you won’t be able to do is earn a ranking above a team that already has Live Competition points (see example above).

Which Halo 3 game types and settings will be used in the Pro Circuit Online Ladders and Online Playoffs?
All matches played in the Pro Circuit Online Ladders and Online Playoffs will use the most current version of the official MLG Halo 3 game types. Online Ladder #1 will use MLG’s Halo 3 Game Types and Settings v3. Please note that v4 Game Types and Settings will be released on February 11th, and will be used in the Online Playoff Bracket #1 as well as the first Live Competition.

What will the registration fee be for the future 2008 MLG Pro Circuit Online Ladders?
This information has not been announced yet.

Is there an additional fee to enter the Online Playoffs after you have already entered the Online Ladder?
No.

How many games will be on the 2008 MLG Pro Circuit?
The only game that has been announced thus far is Halo 3, but additional games will be announced in the coming weeks.

When will the full games roster be announced?
Additional games will be announced in the coming weeks.

How many Live Competitions will there be in 2008?
This information has not been released yet. You can expect it to be a comparable number to that of the 2007 Pro Circuit Season. There were six Live Competitions during the 2007 Season.

Where and when are the Live Competitions for the 2008 Season?
The dates and locations of the Competitions will be released in future announcements. However, the first Live Competition is slated for April.

What are the prizes for the 2008 MLG Pro Circuit?

Do the Halo 2 Pro Players automatically receive Halo 3 MLG Pro Status?
No. Halo 3 is a completely different game from Halo 2 and all players will begin the season on equal footing as they compete to become Halo 3 pros. The results of the first MLG Pro Circuit Live Competition will determine which teams will be named the first Halo 3 pros.

How much will a registration pass cost for Halo 3 Pro Circuit Live Competitions?
This has not yet been announced. Stay tuned for updates.

What will the registration limit be for Halo 3 at the Pro Circuit Live Competitions?
The first Live Competition will have 256 teams (four players to each team), and each Regular Season Competition thereafter will have 272 teams.

When will registration for the first Live Competition open?
This date has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for updates.
