GoW Championship Winners Round 1

 Championship play is underway here in Dallas, and upsets are once again in the making. Despite being the elite, some teams are finding out that their seed is only a number in this tournament. Jumping into a very intense match-up between Frag Dominant Phenom and FRAG High Caliber, we were able to see Frag Dominant's roster for Dallas including Bullet and Mr PuFF. Expecting a fast paced game on Mansion, we were given just that. Not quite on the same page for the map, Frag Dominant Phenom found themselves quickly falling away from winning the first map. Only winning one round of the map with CrReam's shotgun, High Caliber took this one with force. Gridlock would become the map of choice for this next round of play, giving Frag Dominant Phenom an opportunity to come back. After yet another few rounds lost by Frag Dominant, High Caliber became more and more aggressive against this typical powerhouse of a team. Heading into Canals at a two round disadvantage, Frag Dominant Phenom had to get back on track as a team to advance into the next round of Winners Bracket play. Having another very close map, Frag Dominant kicked things off with a rush directly into High Caliber's defenses. Falling two rounds straight off of sloppy rushes, Frag Dominant began to play the numbers game. Eliminating members of High Caliber one by one, Frag Dominant slowly but surely started to regain some ground. With two stellar rounds by Crank and Bullet along with CrReam on the shotgun, Frag Dominant was not out. Heading into Fuel Depot, Frag Dominant yet again found themselves losing their first round due to a stopped rush. Deciding to step it up a notch, Mr PuFF made himself a force to be reckoned with as he and Bullet took back the second round. Being taken down by the Boomshot, Frag Dominant fell back to High Caliber. Turning the tables on High Caliber, Bullet of Frag Dominant finds the Boomshot in his hands this round as he clears the competition. Making his attempt to clear the map, Crank takes Frag Dominant back into the lead with a powerful Boomshot. One more round with Boomshot and Sniper would lead Frag Dominant to the fifth and final map with a 2-2 map tie. Seeming like the Frag Dominant of old, Crank and CrReam opened up with their shotguns rather suddenly to silence High Caliber. Obviously having warmed up by now, Frag Dominant took War Machine with no contest as they prepared themselves for the next round of Winners Bracket competition. As if this match was close enough, Dynasty Retaliation found themselves taking advantage of the rush they gained from winning the Open Bracket. Facing Toronto Champions TH3 NSAN3Z, Dynasty Retaliation kept the maps very close and entertaining. Coming to Dallas for more than the final seed, Dynasty Retaliation tied up their series at 2-2 a piece. Cleaning up TH3 NSAN3Z in a 4-0 match, Dynasty Retaliation is on fire as they head into their second round of Winners Bracket competition after their upset over TH3 NSAN3Z. Not so lucky in their match-up, vBi found themselves on the receiving end of defeat as vVv Prophecy quickly and quietly shut them out in a 3-0 series. Heading into the Losers Bracket, we can expect to see ClouD and the crew putting their foot into the door so that they can have a shot at the Championship Final tonight. |
