![]() The Gears of War National Championship is underway and tensions are high as the first round of the Winners Bracket competition has just concluded. Heading into the first round of the National Championship holding the fourth seed, Dynasty Retaliation had their minds set on that first place prize. Falling quickly to FRAG High Calibur on War Machine, Dynasty Retaliation found themselves in a tight situation as they traded rounds constantly on Gridlock. Falling into a 3-3 score on the map, Jaemercs found himself in a dangerous 2 versus 1 disadvantage. Holding off Monster for as long as possible, the boom shot was not enough for Jaemercs to defend himself against his two competitors. Heading into Canals down in the count, Drix and Jaemercs stepped it up as they wasted little time cleaning up High Caliber in four rounds. Jumping into Clocktower with some intensity restablished, Dynasty Retaliation realized just how tough it would be to stop High Caliber this far into the series. Dropping two rounds to High Caliber, Retaliation yet again came back to bring the series to a stand still at 2-2. Using a number of flanks against High Caliber as they set up, Retaliation was able to take the 5th round with force. Using the same approach in the 6th round, High Caliber prepared for the rush by playing possum, creating a flank of their own and tying yet again with some well placed shots. Having another nailbiter on our hands, the series would depend on the final round of Clocktower. Despite gaining a couple of quick downs on High Caliber, Retaliation failed to capitalize as they ended up being pushed into a corner in a 3 versus 2 situation. Falling short here, Dynasty Retaliation will find themselves in the Losers Bracket rather early in the National Championship. Meeting their fate as well, Violent By Instinct found themselves struggling against a very strong looking vVv Prophecy. Falling short on War Machine and Gridlock, Alinorth kicked it into overdrive as he looked to bring vBi out of murky waters. Putting up quite a few impressive kills on Canals, vBi took a very slow approach to try and flush out vVv numerous times. Despite taking two rounds with some choreographed teamwork, vBi fell in three short maps. Looking to stay alive in the Losers Bracket along with Dynasty Retaliation, things are looking rather tough for vBi as they have a lot of ground to cover. Gears of War action will continue at 3pm PST as Infinity will be seen in action for the first time this weekend against vVv Prophecy. Playing alongside them will be TH3 NSAN3Z kicking off their weekend against FRAG High Caliber this afternoon. |
