5 Reasons to Pick Up Halo 3: ODST
With Halo 3: ODST dropping Monday at midnight, here’s a list of 5 reasons why you’ll want to pick it up:
#5 - The Midnight Launch
Many Halo fans have proven their level of fandom by standing out in the elements for countless hours in order to be one of the very first gamers to get their copy of the newest Halo right at the stroke of midnight. Although they are not for everyone, midnight launches are becoming increasingly popular for new releases and you owe it to yourself as a gamer to experience at least one of these.
#4 - The Recon Armor
What was once reserved for Bungie employees and various contest winners is now available to the masses. Halo 3: ODST will allow everyone to unlock the coveted Recon Armor by completing a series of achievements. Like the Katana Armor in the original Halo 3, you’ll need to go above and beyond in order to get your hands on it. Even if vanity armor isn’t your thing, you still have a plethora of new achievements to conquer.
#3 - Firefight Mode
Halo 3: ODST will mark the debut of a brand new single and multiplayer mode called Firefight. In case you missed the pros playing it for the first time at MLG Dallas, the point of Firefight is to simply stay alive as wave after wave of baddies come at you from every nook and cranny. Depending on how strong of a mode this proves to be, Firefight could become a staple of the Halo franchise for years to come.
#2 - Halo: Reach BETA Access
Purchasing a copy of Halo 3: ODST will grant you access to the beta of Bungie’s final installment of the franchise - Halo: Reach. Although we don’t know when Reach will enter beta-testing phase, we do know that this is your best shot at being included when it does. Reach details are foggy, but expect Microsoft and Bungie to release more information as time rolls on.
#1: New Multiplayer Maps
Halo fans all across the globe will rejoice when they finally get their hands on ODST’s three brand spankin’ new maps. Of the three new maps, ODST’s remake of the Halo 2 classic Midship is by far the most anticipated. Heretic, as it’s now called, will be joined by Citadel, Longshore, and every previously released Halo 3 map for a total of 24 maps.
