With a full 272 team Halo 3 bracket, thousands of live spectators, as well as hundreds of thousands of people watching at home online, the excitement level was at an all-time high. No one was left disappointed, as we were treated to a slew of amazing matches all weekend long, with many fans proclaiming the Finals as “the greatest Finals ever." When it was all said and done, Triggers Down walked away with the Championship; the third different team to do so this season.
MLG Orlando was the largest Live Competition in MLG history.
Triggers Down came into Orlando hot off a surprising team change. After San Diego, Instinct and Triggers Down, who had both improved upon their Meadowlands performances, swapped players. Victory X headed back to his former Instinct squad, while Triggers Down acquired the player Instinct had released to make room for Victory X, SnipeDown. The move was widely criticized by the community, as most thought SnipeDown's play was one of the biggest reasons for Instinct’s second place finish. Nonetheless, Triggers Down was excited to welcome SnipeDown to the squad, and anxiously awaited Orlando to prove their prowess. Early in the Championship Bracket, Triggers Down stormed through the competition. On their way to the Winners Bracket Finals, Triggers Down succeeded in winning every single game. It was here that they met up with Instinct, setting the stage for one of the biggest rivalry matches on the circuit. Triggers Down was determined to top Instinct, and looked dominant in a 3-0 sweep of the squad. While Instinct headed towards the Losers Bracket, Triggers Down calmly awaited an opponent for the Championship Bracket Finals. They would meet up with Str8 Rippin, who managed to knock Instinct out of the tournament in the Losers Bracket Finals. Instinct finished in third place for the second time this season. |
