![]() The 2009 MLG Pro Circuit is all set to rock the Midwest this weekend as it rumbles through Columbus, Ohio for three consecutive days (June 5-7) of pro gaming at its finest. From the moment we announced that the 2009 Pro Circuit would finally be making its first appearance in the state of Ohio, a tsunami of buzz and anticipation swept through the Halo community like wildfire. The state of Ohio was one of the first large-scale breeding grounds for competitive Halo players, and its influence on the direction of Major League Gaming has proven to be invaluable. In many ways, this weekend’s event in Columbus will represent a celebration of the past, present, and future of Halo. In the very beginning, small communities of Halo: CE players began popping up all around North America. These groups wildly varied in skill, location, and size - yet their passion for Halo was always remained consistent. Before the convenience of Xbox Live became a reality, these grassroots communities were bound by the constraints of current technology, and were isolated from competing against one another in a truly competitive environment. Ohio quickly emerged as one of the most influential forces behind the movement, and localized Halo tournaments began to spring up in the region. The grassroots movement expanded exponentially, and it wasn’t long before Major League Gaming came along on a mission to turn the dreams of a few into the reality of the masses.
The effects of Ohio’s influence on the MLG Pro Circuit can still be felt to this day. Join us as MLG makes its triumphant debut in The Buckeye State this weekend.
