![]() Kicking off the event was some of the most robust Open Bracket competition of the year. Plenty of talent filled the Open Bracket as a flurry of teams appeared under the spotlight including vVv Less Than Zero, Hazard, and a number of other teams still up-and-coming. Following nearly two days of Open Bracket competition, we were left with 16 talented teams. Between The NSAN3Z roster change, now number one seeded MbN The Business entering with a powerful roster, and the return of Infinity to the Pro Circuit, the Championship Bracket brought rather fierce competition directly to the forefront. Seeing so many changes amongst teams this event, it was very hard to truly predict just how players would perform this weekend. Despite the departure of High Distortion from MbN: The Business, the team seemed rather unphased as they tore apart the Championship Bracket with no problem. Definitely a step in the right direction, MbN will be the team to beat in Dallas after their performance this weekend.
The NSAN3Z fell just short of their first ever GoW 2 Championship.
Much like the expectations that the community has of MbN, Infinity stepped into Columbus with high hopes and quite a bit expected of them. With numerous Championship and National Championship titles under their belt from Gears of War, it only seemed fitting that Infinity would step into the ring and destroy everything in their path. Performing quite the opposite, Infinity found themselves breaking down after their first match. Not prepared for the event some would say, it seems as though Infinity needs to change their gameplan for Dallas and get acquainted with this new game. Things are different in Gears of War 2 and Infinity is a sharp example of that fact. Deviating from this theory, PuFF of Retaliation showed that veterans of Gears of War can enter competition with force. Jumping onboard with Retaliation following Meadowlands, this Gears of War legend helped bring Retaliation within reach of the Championship here in Columbus. Continuing to be a star player from the 2007 and the 2008 seasons, PuFF seems to be back on track with his former self following a fantastic return to Major League Gaming. Looking forward to the rest of the season, all eyes will be on him as his team stays within the Top 8. |
