MLG: You were named the Old Spice Rising Star Featured Contender for your performance in Columbus. How does it feel to be recognized for your skills? NJ Cubano: It feels great! I finally get the respect I deserve. I feel like at Columbus, I did very well and worked really hard every day to perform the way I did; but I have to say that my team helped me get better and learn from my mistakes. I know that at the end of this year I will be winning the Old Spice Rising Star Award. MLG: So speaking of your team, use this time to introduce each of your teammates to the community. NJ Cubano: ZeRo XceL has a great Torque Bow and a great Shotgun. Whenever we are in a 2v2 Shotgun battle, I feel safe knowing that he's my wingman. Immortal Spawn is a great communicator, always calling the other team's position and is a great support player. Whenever I have someone full red, Immortal's always there to down him. Deadly has a very underrated Shotgun and showed plenty of skill with it at Columbus, but his Pistol is what makes him so deadly. MLG: What do you think makes you a good leader to these guys? NJ Cubano: I am the youngest on the team, but I show my level of maturity when it comes to playing. I can joke around at times. I sing when we scrim and warm up, but when it comes down to game time, I can be very serious and down to business. We all have our say when it comes to team decisions - we say we all put our 25% into everything we do. I am a very dedicated and loyal player. I mean nothing but the best for my teammates. I treat them like brothers and not just like someone I know online, which is why we have such great team chemistry. MLG: How did it feel to knock off a team as talented as Infinity? NJ Cubano: It felt great. Coming into the event, many people thought we were going to get 3-0’d. We heard this and wanted to beat them to prove what we came to Columbus for. We had host advantage and knew we could beat them. I am a great host and showed it when we 4-0, 4-1, and 4-1’d them in round counts on the three maps we played - including a 4-1 victory in the tiebreaker on Avalanche. This was by far the biggest match we played at Columbus. MLG: So in your opinion - Are you expecting to see more out of them in Dallas? NJ Cubano: I see them placing Top 16. After that it's a toss up to where they’ll range in placing. I respect them highly as a team and look forward to playing them again. MLG: You were eventually knocked out in the Losers Bracket Finals by The NSAN3Z. What do you think went wrong in that match? NJ Cubano: We went up 2-0 on Jacinto and got over-confident. After that we had a few miscommunications that caused us to lose the Boomshot every round. We really wanted and needed this win to boost our confidence and to have our rematch against MbN: The Business. It came down to us not being able to pull it off, and losing a very disappointing match. They deserved it and played very well through the whole event. Good luck to them in Dallas. |
