Timeout With Walshy

Walshy: I think it’s the bowling matches against Lunchbox and Roy. They’re the only ones who could even possibly beat me. Obviously, I’m the best bowler on the MLG Pro Circuit, and it’s not because of my skill - it’s because of my age. Everyone knows the older you get, the better you bowl. It’s just a known fact! (laughs) MLG: As your bio above points out, you’re now planning to attend Dallas as a member of Carbon. Tell us about how this whole thing came about. Walshy: When all the team changing went down, Shockwave called me and asked me if I was on or off of the team because he wanted to know for his team’s sake. I told him I would call him when I knew for sure because at the time, I still didn’t know if I was on or off of the team. So after it all went down, I took a few days just to make sure I didn’t make any rash decisions. The first person I called was Strongside, and I just asked him if he’d be willing to team with Shockwave and Defy. He agreed, and we ended up joining up with them; but as every knows - the roster has changed since then. MLG: Let me stop you there. Ogre 2 has confirmed Strongside as a member of Final Boss once again - meaning this obviously did pan out. What happened? Walshy: Strongside is like Anakin from the Star Wars movies. He got swayed to the dark side of the force and he’s now on FB again. (laughs) It sucks because I thought we had a lot of potential. At the same time though, Naded has arguably the same set of skills. We have a top sniper and a lot of raw talent with Naded, and I’m just really interested to see how well he does. He seems like he has a lot of motivation, and will do whatever it takes to win. MLG: So the projected Carbon roster currently sits at Shockwave, Defy, Walshy, Naded. How did Naded come about? Walshy: After Strongside ended up going to FB, we (Carbon) sat down and talked about it. Honestly at first I was a little bit hesitant to join up with Naded just because of what I’ve heard about him in the past. Everyone would say he’s not dedicated, and he’s not a team player and things like that. After talking with him for a couple hours, he really changed my mind. I mean, he had explanations for things that happened in the past and just seemed like a down to earth guy who just wants to win. MLG: Obviously, Shockwave and Defy felt the same way? Walshy: Shockwave was actually the one that first brought it up. He had teamed with him before, and they had that amazing run at that the National Championships - and he just wanted to team with him again. I honestly don’t think there is any bad blood between Naded and Shockwave. I think the bad blood was a bit more between Cpt. Anarchy and Ghostayame. MLG: Three years ago, would you have ever believed that Walshy and Shockwave would eventually end up joining forces on the 2009 Pro Circuit? Walshy: If he knew the things I’ve said about him in the past, I doubt we would be teaming together right now! (laughs) MLG: Ouch! So let’s finish this off on a personal note. What has Walshy been up to in his day-to-day life since Columbus? Walshy: I wake up. I run. I eat. I game. And that’s all I’ve been doing lately! MLG: What’s the latest on your clothing company, Kiaeneto? Walshy: Well, on a personal note, the co-owner of Kiaeneto, Mikey Sabo, just recently got married on June 13th. So he’s now officially a married man, and I just want to say congrats to him. We’ve put things on pause just for a little bit just to take care of the wedding stuff. Aside from that, we’re just happy for all of the support we have. It seems like people have been really supportive of the line, and it’s just awesome to go into an event and seeing people wearing designs that some of my artists have created. MLG: Let’s finish this off with a bang. If you had your choice of who to play right now at this very moment, who would it be - Final Boss or Instinct? Walshy: Final Boss. You know, since us Carbon members have had such a long history with them and all. Since we took the National Championship from them in ’06, and they took it back from us in ’07, we’ve just wanted to play them again sooo badly! (laughs) MLG: I didn’t expect anything less from you, Walshy. Best of luck with Carbon and we’ll see you in Dallas! |
