The Bait and Switch The first move is probably the most common move, known simply as the bait and switch. This involves two teammates working together, one being the "bait" to the other team, while the other is getting into position to "switch." The switch should happen when the bait is close to low shields, allowing the other player to sweep in and clean up the kill the bait initiated. What you're trying to accomplish here is to sell the battle like it is a regular 1v1, but as your shields deplete lower than half way, your teammate should be more than ready and in position to take your place and clean up the kill. Pros use this multiple times a game, and can be applied in a lot of different situations and locations. One good example is in green on The Pit when setting up for rockets; It's an easy way to get a kill and a freshly dropped rocket. The Shoulder to Shoulder Double Team The second move is called the shoulder to shoulder double team. Now, my team doesn't use this too much, and if we do, we won't be doing it for too long, but I think that's because of our fast and furious playstyle. This move is still very effective if used right. You aren't literally spartan shoulder distance apart here, but you should be relatively close to your "shoulder" teammate trying to run around double teaming/shooting at the same targets. This is where communicating and teamwork are huge; calling names out and having up to date call outs are very important here. How else are you going to know which person to shoot at if there are multiple bad guys? A good situation for this would be on construct while in lobby and if you know a guy is going to be lifting up one of the purples, just order up a shoulder to shoulder double team and take him out nice and easy -- 2 shots, 2 shots, dead. The Trailer This 3rd move is known as the trailer. Just like the last move, the name and description go hand in hand. Nothing too crazy here, this is when one teammate pushes slightly ahead of the trailing teammate during a push. This is used best as a move to try and break the other teams set up, or if you're just trying to make a solid push towards the enemy. Oftentimes, the other team is going to be aware of the push and will be chucking some nades right toward your path, so be on the look out as well. Make sure you're decently spaced out and try to evade any nades. This move works great if you're pushing with a powerup or power weapon. A couple situations that I like to use this move on would be when were going down long hall on The Pit or when you take any of the lifts on Construct; both are very effective in my opinion. The 2-Man Flank Now to the final move I have for you guys, the epic 2-Man Flank. Alright, so maybe it's not that epic, but it is a very effective move nonetheless. This is when two guys make a sneaky push behind the other team in an effort to attack them from two different positions. Now, if you want to be successful you have to have your other two teammates distract the other team by putting as much fire and pressure on them as you can. They don't have to be the prettiest shots; remember, your making a distraction here. You also don't want to die here either, so if you start getting close to popped shields, ease off a bit until your two flankers are in position to tee off. I like this move when on Narrows when you have top middle control: send two guys low mancannon while the top center guys are jumping up and down like crazy men; works every time. I also like this move on Amplified: send a guy top mid and one on a tower, distract, distract, distract then send 2 guys low across the outer side of the map to clean up any weak guys or distracted opponents. Now remember, all of these moves are simple but very effective if used right. Try using all four of these moves in game to mix it up and throw the other team off their game. The more you use them, the better and more creative you can get! |
