MLG: The Str8 Rippin team we saw at Dallas was a vastly different team than the beast who tore through Columbus. Is the Str8 from Columbus back for Anaheim? Elamite: Unfortunately, we were not able to set up any LANs before Anaheim, but I know we all have started to put in a lot of games for this event. I know in Dallas we were just not into it, and you can definitely expect to see a different Str8 in Anaheim. MLG: Dallas was the first time Str8 Rippin has ever lost to Instinct after eight consecutive victories. What happened in that series? Elamite: Like I said before, we were just not with it in Dallas. I would not take anything that we did that tournament seriously or have it reflect on how we perform as a team. We lost all of our best gametypes and lost to teams and players that we DON'T lose to. I would say it was a fluke and Anaheim will be different. MLG: You guys have won alternating events for the entire length of Halo 3's time on the Pro Circuit. What do you think has prevented you guys from putting together a streak? Elamite: I know one of my biggest flaws is getting too content. After we dominate a tournament I -- and sometimes the rest of the team -- tend to get lazy. It is something we are trying to work on and prevent from happening in the future. MLG: Do you think you and the rest of Str8 play better when your backs are against the wall or when you're not the favorite? Elamite: We always play our best as the underdogs and personally, it is my favorite position to be in. I like having something to prove as a player and as a team. MLG: You guys have a probable match-up with Carbon in the second round. What are the keys to knocking them off their game? Elamite: As long as we play our game we will win. Our best is better than their best. MLG: Are you surprised by Instinct's decision to drop Ghostayame? Interview continues on page 2> |
