![]() With Anaheim now behind us, here are the top five stories coming out of the event as we head to Orlando for the National Championships in January. A Pure Gangster is Quickly Becoming a Star In 2008, APG had a total of 3 Rank Points. He was struggling to make it out of the Open Bracket, and it seemed like even making the Championship Bracket would be a feat worth noting. To kickoff the 2009 Season, APG came out with High Society and finished 12th. After a small slip in Columbus, APG jumped ship and headed for greener pastures with The Influence. With a new squad, APG finished 7th, marking his first finish in the Top 8. Not satisfied with 7th, he made the questionable decision to join up with Dynasty, the very same team The Influence had just defeated in consolation. While The Influence went on to finish 12th in Anaheim, APG and his new teammates on Dynasty shocked the Pro Circuit and finished 4th, upsetting powerhouses like Final Boss and Believe The Hype. A Pure Gangster has impressed everyone this season, improving every team he has joined significantly. He's easily been one of the hottest players in the 2009 Season, and at 15, has significant room to grow as a player. It looks as if he's found the perfect team to do so in Dynasty, a team where the oldest player is 17 years of age. Triggers Down is Now a Dynasty After becoming the first back-to-back Halo 3 Champions in Anaheim, it is now officially safe to call Triggers Down a dynasty. They've finished first three times in 2009, and unlike last season, when they haven't taken first, they've finished a close second. The inconsistent TD we talked about so much last year has seemingly vanished, replaced by a cool and collected squad of extremely talented players. With $100,000 on the line in Orlando, it's time for Triggers Down to leave no doubts about their dominance and end the season on top with a three-peat.
Dynasty will be out in Orlando to prove that Anaheim was no fluke.
Instinct and Final Boss Have a Lot of Work to Do Judging by their performances in Anaheim, Final Boss and Instinct, two teams who have been considered contenders for the duration of Halo 3's Pro Circuit lifespan, have a lot to do before Orlando if they intend on fighting for the National Championship. Both teams struggled mightily in Anaheim, with Instinct placing 7th and Final Boss placing 9th. For Ogre 2, this was the first time in his entire career that he left a competition without a piece of the prize pool, a fact that will undoubtedly sit with him as he prepares for Orlando. With rosters locked for the season, as unhappy as both teams may be with their rosters, they're going to have to find a way to work together and improve if they are to have any hope of salvaging their season in Orlando. Now would be a poor time to let all of that talent go to waste. |
