Hey everyone!!

After considering a lot of stuff this past week i've decided that competitive gaming isnt the place for me anymore. I first want to emphasize this has nothing to do with how our team placed in NJ I feel like we really could have put up a really tough fight against legacy if security was played out differently against MBN or has to do with the team at all, this is strictly my decision.Ive just sat back and re-analyzed where im at in my life and gaming just wasnt fun for me anymore. I know a lot of people are gonna be like "WARRIOR!!! what are you thinking this is a lot of peoples dream!" but for me its no longer my dream and just because its someone elses dream doesnt mean I should still stick around and play. Now i'll still be playing the dr.peppers matches but that is my last tournament i'll be priticipating in.The people I really want to thank is

• Raymond Lau hes the best pro player manager ever!!!
• Walter from astro- Hes awesome and always making sure are headphones are working in tip top shape
• Astro-Without those headphones we would have never placed as high as we did as a team!!
• zYn-Artic,Ali,Sky, andOrange are amazing player and people and definitely gonna miss them alot!!
• The NSAN3Z-im gonna miss you guys the most and you know how hard it was for me to let you guys know I was leaving the team and you know we'll definitely always be best friends no matter what happen....
• Gears Pros-gonna miss seeing everyone at the events and talking with you all lol i always had awesome conversations with everyone!!

Hey everyone long time since i blogged been really busy with school and what not but im gonna go ahead and sum up MLG Vegas from my perspective! First The shoutouts!!

 

 

Astro-seriously I cant thank Walter and the guys at Astro enough they have the best customer service and amazing headphones they are way worth the money and I don't know if we could achieved a victory without these headphones!!

 

MLG- Definitely all the staff and thanks to Mike Sepso and Sundance for making such a amazing league and Ray for all his pro player support its awesome what you guys have done and I cant wait to see whats in line for 09!

 

Gears of War Players- From pros to amateur players its we helped make the community and Gears of War what it is today so all Gears of War players definitely get a shoutout!

 

The Fans- Without the fans MLG would never be what it is now and all our fans that I heard cheering us on during the finals you guys are awesome and we wont disappoint in 09!!

 

       Alright so start out our trip to Vegas! Killa,Pred, and I arrived in Vegas on Friday thanks to HQ's awesome air flight finding to make it so I could attend one of my college classes before flying out.We got to thehard Rock about a hour or so before the start of the all star game which I must say was a amazing venue location. Since my whole team lives in the midwest region we were all on the West Coast team and the first West Coast team to actually play was me, Zkiller,RMAN, and Atmo. We ended up beating the East on War Machine which was a lot of fun to play. I really cant remember the rest of the scores but I really thought it was neat to watch one of the Allstar games for Gears on the MainStage. It just seemed right seeing Gears of War up there and I was really hoping our team would be the team to play in the first Gears Finals that would be on the Mainstage. Long story short West won the Gears of War Allstar Game 3-2 which whent to the last round. Also want to say congrats to my teammates Predator and KILLA for getting the Allstar game MVPS they really deserved it!

      Well on the second day we got to the Venue and was warming up and feeling pretty good for the upcoming games even though we started later than normal since only 6 Gears of War teams were at Vegas and us and Infinity had a bye first round. We stuck around and watched High Caliber upset Retaliation and saw that we would be playing high caliber next right off a huge momentum game. We played them and I think they took the first map and then we took 3 maps to win the series 3-1 but man they were some close matches. We then learned that Infinity had also beat Prophecy 3-1 and that we would be playing Infinity for the Winners Bracket Finals match.

     this is what we were practicing for playing Infinity. We were all on our game and ready for this match. The First map was close but we squeezed it out and won on their host. The next map was our host and I think we won pretty well and the last map their host I think remember being 4-1!! We had Just 3-0 number 1 seeded and heavy favorite Infinity in the winner bracket finals!! We were all stoked and definitely ready to see how they would do in the loser bracket finals. They end up beating High Caliber which congrats for them they definitely deserved third place!! 

 Sunday

   

 

This was the day everyone on Infinity and my team The NSAN3Z had been waiting for all year. Not only as a rematch of Toronto but as a rematch of last seasons Finals at Vegas. We were ready and couldn't wait to play on the Mainstage and make sure we could hold our 3-0 lead to take us to our victory. During the intros im not gonna lie I was really nervous. Heck I was nervous during the whole first map. But after we lost that map I forgot everyone was around me just that I was playing and thats all that mattered. We then lost the second map but i wasnt really too worried but the first two maps were weak maps for us and really strong maps for Infinity and knowing the next map was Gridlock on our host I knew the momentum would be stopped right then. We end up winning that match making it 4-2. We play fuel depot their host and win taking the series 5-2. We were all starting to feel that we were close to winning it. But Infinity fought back and took Canals our host tightening up the series to 5-3. Next map was Mansion.

     Now any Gears player will tell you Mansion could go either way but we really wanted to get the win here and not let it go any farther but Infinity fought hard. I just remember trading rounds with them tell it got 3-3. Then we ran our all rush strat at them and I run the middle and had no resistance. Predator got the boomshot with ease and whent to shoot and I ran right into his shot killing me then Zkiller died shortly after. We were down 2 men in the first 30 seconds. But Predator and KILLA clutched it killing everyone and winning us the 4v4 GOW MLG NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! 

 

 

 

 It was awesome to get this win after 2 years of playing gears of war and with Gears of War 2 out now this was the last time Gears of War 1 will be on the circuit and to win the last tournament for it is just unexplainable. I once again want to thank everyone that has helped us get to where we are now there is so many people and they know who they are that did and I just want to thank them and know that without you we would have never made it here. Been playing Gears of War 2 and its definitely taking some getting use to but I think with some practice we will definitely be a top team again!!

 

Hey what’s up everyone? I just wanted to talk about my experience on interviewing Microsoft Gaming Studio's own Greg Murphy in Toronto. Well, this all got set up after winning when Ray walked up and asked Predator and I to interview Greg. Predator and I jumped at the chance and we were really excited for the opportunity.

When I got the chance to interview Greg Murphy, one of the things I was really excited to hear about was some of the new game types. Meat Flag, which is capture the flag with an AI bot as the flag, is a pretty awesome idea to add to the Gears unvierse!! The flag even shoots, so it’s like a flag that fights back. Also, Wingman seems like a gametype that will appeal to a lot of people, especially Predator and I since we are a really good 2v2 team. Wingman is five teams of two going at it, which I can only imagine as chaos to say the least!! It really seems awesome! Greg also talked about Guardian, which is very similar to Assassination except your team respawns unless your VIP is killed. So it’s especially important to protect him at all cost!

Greg even mentioned some of the maps from Gears 1 that will make a re-appearance in Gears of War 2. Gridlock, A fan favorite and one of my personal favorites, and Subway, which was one of the newer maps that Epic released after the game had come out and was really neat in its own respect. Also, some of the new weapons he told us about were the Mortar, which I thought was one of the coolest things to have in a game like Gears. I can only imagine the huge possibilities that weapon will have. The Mulcher, which is a machine gun that will literally mulch your opponents right before your eyes. Last but not least, the Scorcher, which is a flamethrower and just looked awesome when we were watching it cook the locust horde. It kinda gives you this satisfying feeling for some reason! We also talked to Greg about the Gears 2 campaign and how it will tie up some of the loose ends like Dom's wife search and how Marcus Fenix’s father is tied into the plot. Greg told us he would hook our team up with some sweet swag(pictured below) and congratulated us on winning Toronto. We decided to catch the Demo of Greg playing a level of Gears of War 2 and it just looked more visually stunning then the first game, which I didn’t think was possible! Looks like we will see tons of new enemies. Watching him use some of the new weapons just got me wishing November 7th would get here even sooner!!! Hey everyone! Once again I'm gonna start off with my shoutouts

 

Astro-I seriously can't stop praising these headphones, they are worth the price and if you have problems, just send them to them and they fix them for free!! Seriously awesome headphones!!

 

Retaliation- The come out of nowhere team! Beating Bloodline, Frag D, and Murder by Numbers is a huge feat!! Taking third place and giving us the closest match, and I heard a lot of people say the most exciting Gears of War match to date!! I'll get into details about our match later

 

 Dignitas- Another one of those came out of nowhere teams!! Placing fourth was huge especially for a EU team and they took us to the last map! Really cool guys, Really good team, and if you guys go to Dallas, it's gonna be close if Retaliation or Diginitas get the 8th spot!

 

 Frag D- I know you guys will bounce back from this event and I cant wait to see it once again. Missed seeing you guys in the Finals :(

Snipes-I have to thank you for giving me the idea to get the team back together! If you wouldn't have gave me that idea, I know this would have never happened!!

Greg Murphy- This is the guy from Microsoft doing the Gears of War 2 demo. I got to interview him for MLG and I think they said its gonna be a 2 part series since pred and I both interviewed him. He's a cool guy and definitely was really awesome to talk to him!!

The FANS- When I was standing mainstage after our win, a million things were running through my mind and one thing that kept going through it was we finally won one for the fans who had been with us through the thick and thin and I was just really happy to finally do that!! We really dig the messages we get and we all try to respond to them, so once again thanks to the fans without you this, and MLG, wouldnt be what it is today!

 

TORONTO RECAP

     Alright now I'm gonna start from the beginning. Shortly after my Orlando blog I learned that we wouldn't be able to LAN with vBi in Indiana since 3 of us were starting school that same week so that was out of the question and I once again apologize to vBi about that. I was pretty sure it was going to go through when I first talked to them. Now Predator,HQ, and I left the Wednesday after school before the event to drive to Toronto. We left about 6pm and the first 4-6 hours were quite uneventful till Predator started driving lol. HQ was sleeping from driving the first shift and I was mad tired just sitting in the back seat by myself so I fell asleep and about 30 minutes after predator started his shift he wakes us up and says I think I went the wrong way ROFL. HQ is mad so we stop she starts driving again and we get out of the car and the doors close locking the keys in the car!!! So we are in Illnois locked out of our car!!! We were starting to freak but the gas station called the police and they had this tool to unlocked her car and so we find out where we are and start heading out to Toronto again. We stopped at a rest stop that night.

 

    Next day we drive into Michigan we are probably 5 minutes from where we need to cross the border at then this detour takes us 2 hours the wrong way!!! We were like wow how retarded! We cross the border for some reaso,n they search our car make us go through immigration. It was starting to get aggravating. We get on our way and right when we get into Toronto we hit rush hour traffic. That delays us another 2 hours but finally get to the hotel see atmo,603, and G3N3TIX say hi to them and wait till midnight that night for Frag D to get there since Pred and HQ was staying with them. We get to Friday I go down to the event watch some AM bracket warmed up a little and just kinda enjoyed MLG! That night I got decent sleep for the event, you know when your trying to sleep and you just cant cause you get so excited about the next day I just knew we would do well.

Saturday- I dont remember if we warmed up with anyone or not but I remember playing Blaze and his team TLR like always first round. He really deserves pro and its honestly amazing to me that he hasnt got it yet. We beat them 3-0 I played kinda bad I thought but we won and that was what mattered. So I whent to watch the vBi vs Dignitas match and was hearing it was in the last map. I really would have loved to play either team, vBi, my old team and Dignitas the best european team I thought either would be a good match! Dignitas won and we got to play them on mainstage!!

    They were really good they took us last map Canals and we were able to pull it out the win 3-2!! Next up was rivals Infinity!!As we were warming up for this match I hear Frag D lost to this team out of AM bracket called Retaliation. We all looked at each other in shock and thought this is a team to watch out for. We started first map against infinity their host Fuel depot and beat them i think 4-3. Then they 4-0'd us their host Gridlock then we played our host i think war machine and clocktower and beat them overall 3-1 in maps!! I was so stoked to be back in the top 3 i felt like this is where our team belonged but i was starting to realize the win is very possible!

      So then I hear that Retaliation beat their scrim team Murder by Numbers and would be facing us in the Winner bracket finals! I was really starting to take notice to this team and realized they would definitely gonna be a threat. We start the match with them and all I remember is being down 2-1 in maps then host the last 2 maps. We won the first one pretty good then whent to our host War Machine for the win and a trip to the finals! The rounds whent back and forth then it was 3-3. I remember Pred say im pushing up to middle. So I pushed up at snipe to help support better and then he goes down. I abandon snipe to pick him up he gets up I scream to push middle cause snipe is gonna crossfire us and as we do PREDATOR DIES!! Killa and I push their side middle full red and down their two guys, Zkiller win his 1v1 at trokia and snipe guy came rails to flank and me and killa finished him off to win the map!!! This was the closes match in my career and my heart was pounding the whole time and was expecting a rematch with this team in the finals!

 

     That wasnt meant to be as Infinity beat Ret. in the loser bracket finals and we ended up playing our rivals Infinity. The first map was their host mansion. We all really wanted to win this map since 603 had been bragging they never lose mansion on lan and with predator carrying us with like 300 points we end up winning mansion 4-3. They beat us the next two maps their host so the map count is 4-3. We host the next two and end up winning both, final map count 6-3, to take home our first Gears Championship!!! I was so happy and in such shock that all the hardwork had finally paid off!! We had achieved what we wanted finally and to take that in is such a feeling that I honestly cant describe!!! We left the next day after having a Interview with Microsoft game studios PR guy Greg Murphy, which once again was pleasure!! The drive home was fine, it was only 16 hours, and we did it all in one drive! Once  we crossed into the states we returned all our phone calls to everyone and just was so happy we finally won!!! Once again thanks MLG for holding these events and thanks to Ray Lau, the pro player manager. You do so much at events its crazy!!! And thanks for reading this long blog!!!

Frag D-Seriously nice job guys! Watching Scar handle Top Trokia on War Machine,Crream dominate everywhere,HD sick sniping the whole tourney, and Crank handling everyone, it was just seriously amazing. I just wish it could have been our two teams in the finals

Astro- I just have to shout out for their headsets again. They are seriously amazing in every way! We daisy chain every day and it's just awesome sound quality,. not only to the game but to my teammates! it seriously sounds like they are just talking normally! Once again, thanks for making such an awesome headset!

vBi-ArCtiC you know we are on the cookies and milk status!! lol Alinorth you're still my favorite. Xcel you're an amazing player. I don't get how you clutch some of your stuff! Cant wait for our LAN before Toronto!!!

Our Fans- Last but not least!! We appreciate so much getting messages on XBL and people at event coming up and talking to us telling us good luck and just telling us how much they support us!! It means a lot, and if we want gears and MLG to continue to get bigger we need fans to do that!!

 

 

Orlando Recap

Alright now I'm gonna recap Orlando event for us. Now I want to start off by saying that I'm not making excuses about what happened; we did bad, so we didn't place well. This is just an explanation. First off, we were delayed something like 8 hours on our travel day into Orlando. It was kinda ridiculous! We get there and I had been sick the since the fourth of July and it wasn't getting better to say the least no matter the amount of medicine I took but I was just trying to tough it out. We played in the pro lounge and felt really good, definitely to live up to expectations for ourselves. The day we play the tourney everyone got terrible sleep like only 2 hours. My sickness was not any better than before I had the worse sore throat and headache but I was toughing it out not letting it bother me.

We warmed up with Frag D and felt like it was alright and then we played the our first team. They were pretty good they did take a map on us with the final map count 3-1. We played MoB Bloodline and we didn't quite know what to expect from them since they had stop scrimming us like 3 weeks before the event. They win two maps on us and take us to the last round on the last map before be won 4-3 on the fifth map. We played Murder by Numbers which I have to say had a amazing event and congrats to them. They played through AM bracket all the way to third place, they should have never had to been in the AM bracket in the first place. Anyway they beat us 3-0 map count. We all knew our communication and teamwork were horrible and we talked it over trying to find ways to fix it.

We then play Prophecy on main stage and that was a fun match! I'm not sure what it was about it but it was one of the funnest games I've played in MLG competition. We ended up winning 3-2 against them and we go on to play infinity for the loser bracket semis. That was the team we wanted to play the most. Bad thing was we were all just so exhausted by that point they just rolled over us beating us 3-0. It was heartbreaking to place fourth but we knew what happened and we vowed not to let it happen again.

Toronto Preparation

Going into Toronto we are gonna definitely scrim and work hard on everything from individual skill to strats in scrims. As I hinted before we've talked to vBi and Ebash and they are nice enough to allow us to come out there the week before Toronto and get some good LAN practice before the event that will definitely help both our teams place high than we did for Orlando. I also believe as ArCtiC said in his blog that this is the first time two teams have LAN in gears for this amount of time for preparation for event so it should be a lot of fun!!

 

First off i would once again like to thank MLG for adding Gears of War for the Orlando event!! I know the whole Gears community was excited to see the event added to the circuit!!! Also for those who dont know Th3 NSAN3Z team that spent the whole last season together is back after 1 event apart. To make a long story short we wanted to bring back the only Christian team on the circuit. Plus you know we love to quad host :).



Anyway this weekend The team(PRED,KILLA,ZKILLER, and I) along with HQ decided to have a little LAN practice and vacation at Killas lake house before the Orlando event. We arrived on Sunday nightt late so we pretty much just unpacked our equipment and chilled watching movies then going to bed. Monday we all woke up and met up to put the wave runners in the water and have some fun on the lake. Well come to find out the battery in one of the wave runners was dead so after 4 gamers and 4 other people and two hours later we finally figured out how to find the battery and install the new one(dumb i know lol) and got out on the lake to have a blast. Now when your a gamer your skin tends to burn pretty easy especially if you don't wear sun screen and i'm pretty sure everyone got dominated by the Missouri sun on the first day out on the lake. Later that day we all had a bet who could catch the most fish between ZKILLER, PREDATOR, and I and zkiller was actually wanting to beat my all time record of twenty fish caught lifetime in one day. I thought it was in jeopardy when in ten minutes he caught 8 fish. After a little begging we switched poles and hour later i caught my first fish of the day and it was seriously the smallest fish i've ever seen anyone catch on a fishing rod. Everyone busted laughing when i pulled it out of the water. Later that night we started the LAN with me and ZKILLER in one room and KILLA and PREDATOR in the other. We all have the astro headsets so they we daisy chained with said teammates and had a blast but the first night i'll be honest KILLA and PREDATOR destroyed us.



Tuesday we all woke up and once again took the wave runners out on the water(this time wearing sunblock) and on the way back into to killas house ZKILLER decides to flip me off the wave runner and I go cart wheeling off the water! It was fun though and didnt hurt that bad skipping off the water at 40 miles per hour. We got back to the house kinda just hung out for awhile and started some more LAN practice. And this time me and zkiller came back in dominating fashion beating KILLA and PRED although they might try to tell you a different story haha. After Harlequin got done making us some awesome food she jumped in the lan and we played late into the night. After we got done we just sat around talked strats talked about the old days and talked about MLG and video games in general.



Wednesday ZKILLER and KILLA woke up late so PREDATOR, HQ, and I decided to go out on the lake since it was the final day and let me tell you being on a wave runner by yourself is the most fun you can have!! When HQ started driving her wave runner we were busting out stunts and looking all cool on the lake! Then when we got back it was pretty much time to pack up and leave back to KC and get in some more scrims. After the LAN practice it just made me more excited for the July 11th Orlando event wanting to come even quicker. Cant wait to see everyone there! Also good luck to all the teams that are going!Thanks again MLG for adding the event. Also want to say Astro your headphones are amazing especially daisy chainned its crazy how crisp and clear the sound is and definitely worth the money you put into them!! Well everyone Chicago is next week and in my free time decided to chronicles the top teams that will be in the pro bracket come friday night and saturday in no particular order. Infinity- i watched their VoD and im just amazed by this teams coordination and the sick individual skills by each member on the team including Gentix clutch 1v2 at the end of mansion and Species sick 1v1 skills which are probably the best on the circuit leaving Dallas.This team will continue to be in the top 8 for the rest of the season. VVV Vision- I love this team im friends with pretty much every pro on the circuit and i continue to want to see this team succeed but it seems like maybe they haven't put in enough practice for event i hope they are able to prove me wrong. TLR- they had amazing comeback after losing to KSI sad pandas and then steam rolling back to top 3. I think with Coachayame behind them keeping up their confidence level and helping with strats will continue to push for top 5 for the rest of the season. I think they could have easily been in the final game with Infinity if it wasn't for small mistakes (scar you are my homy lol) continue to watch this team. PrOphecy- With God603 at the helm of this team and the addition of High distortion this team got top 4. I see this team continuing top place well the rest of the season. I cant seeing them every falling out early in any tournament. N3-No Name Noobs- This team could be the most underated team coming out of Dallas. Every team has a bad tournament and Dallas was the one for N3. This team has been on every day( i would know this team scrims us all the time) coming out Dallas and i can see them proving themselves in the top 8 in Chi-Town. VBI- I really wish we could have seen this team at Dallas and it saddens me that that great of a team has lost its pro status by nothing of its fault. I plan on seeing VBI tear through the AM bracket and make top 8 and regain their pro status. LGD RED- This team was another surprise at dallas expecting them to do a lot better and now losing both Shakur and Fiber im interested in seeing what kind of challenges this teams going to go through and how well they rebound. The NSAN3Z- Honestly i know everyone says it but talking about your own team kind of sucks cause it takes one wrong word to be taken as cocky. Im just gonna say we choked at Dallas we weren't happy with falling back in position in finishing 6th and we have literally almost practiced every day since. I feeling like are teamwork is at a all time high and our individual skill is really good and im expecting a lot better finish in Chi Town. Well everyone we came back from Dallas a little disappointed. First off, Dallas was a blast and the hotel we stayed in was friggin sweet i cant believe how big hotels are in the Dallas area its crazy. Anyway on thurs we made our 8 hour drive pretty all right. Our whole team met at Killa's dad house since he was driving us there. We arrived and just hung around the hotel all day. Friday night was game night for us. we arrived in the event right at opening time so we could start scrimming are favorite team to scrim N3 No name noobs we then realized it was split screen practice and decided that was better than anything. after that we just hung around i watched some of the Gears Am bracket and hung out in the Red bull lounge. in full screen warm ups we scrimmed VVV vision winners of Meadowlands and we had a lot of success seeing how well are teamwork and are individual skill was kicking in and those 6 days a week practice schedule really was paying off. We played Murder by Numbers first round and won 3-1 feeling really good and seeing how well they did on the second day helped us realize how on we really were. We then played ill by Nature, Blaze's team after upsetting are friends and rivals N3 No Name Noobs. Blaze made it fun and exciting and we ended beating them 3-2 and then we heard the unfortunate news that are friends N3 were knocked out of the tournament by Murder by Numbers. The big mistake we made was that night going out to eat and not going to bed tell 3 or 4 in the morning then waking up at 7. i think we all realized how tired we all were once we started warm ups in the morning we were just so off and after doing so well against VVV vision the day before they 3-0 us in the third round of Winners bracket and prOphecy beat us 3-1 right after that.We felt like we should have really beat them especially since we beat them 3-0 at Meadowlands but it sucks and thats gaming and you get over it. We later even lost our match for 5th against LGD red 3-2 after being up 2 maps on them. For Chicago we already started perfecting setups and getting our teamwork to a point i've never seen it before. Also with us all practicing at Killas house and getting more scrims in a day than i think we have ever had i feel like we will be ready for Chicago. I just want to say good luck to everyone playing in Chicago and cant wait to see everyone there. P.S. Congrats to LGD Black i'm really happy to see them win they are a cool bunch of guys
