Roller Coaster of a Year ~ 2009
- February 20, 2010 - 1:46pm
To begin the year I was teaming with some of my best friends on End Result(Mad Max, Moniz, Talent). We picked up Talent about a month before the event, after DarkScorpion left our team for N49. AM bracket was pretty sketchy this event, we lost in AM to FlatLine, and barely won in game 3 to vG. When Pro Bracket began whoever, we were a whole new team dominating for the rest of Saturday night, but when it came to Sunday we didn’t have any more fuel in the tank and fell short, resulting in a 14th place finish.
Between Meadowlands-Columbus, I planned on working out the kinks and improving our team and trying to be able to boost us into the top 8. However I got a call from a good friend, Nexus who asked if I wanted to join Ambush(Nexus, Gunshot, Tiz) how could I ever turn that down? I joined, and let my eR buddies know, I remained good friends with all of these guys, considering we teamed for around 8 months, it was hard to leave them, but this chance seemed all too good.
At Columbus we had a pretty average tournament to be honest, we didn’t play our best, but we didn’t play bad by any means we came out with a 10th place finish, which unfortunately is my best placing to date, but of course I wasn’t happy placing outside of the money. After the event I went to Cedar Point, and had a great time with a few friends, and my family.
After Columbus we all agreed that we didn’t want to team with Gun Shot, but he also didn’t want to team with us, so it was somewhat neutral. So we began to search for fourths. At first we picked up Severince, we played very well with him, but when Naded wanted to join our team, there wasn’t much we could say, we decided to let Severince go. We played pretty well with Naded, but he left shortly after for Carbon, I wasn’t really upset by his choice. So after Naded and Sev where off the list we had two options Mackeo, and Anarchy and we went with Mackeo. Before Dallas 3/4s of us went to the Summer Lan which was a blast (thanks again to the Pennacchio family J) We also lanned with Str8 before the event we didn’t play to many games during the LAN, but it was a blast and I got to know my teammates, and all of Str8 a lot better.
At Dallas all I can say is we were bad. I don’t think we were bad players, but as a team. There was constant arguing and bickering that caused us to place so poorly.
After Dallas I left Ambush which was probably not a great decision but I wanted something new, and I joined Virtuosity. All of the team was from New York, and I figured we would be able to LAN all the time, and practice a ton, but that wasn’t the case we didn’t practice much for the next to events due to stupid reasons. But we got a VERY disappointing 18th place, at both Anaheim and Orlando.
Since the season has ended I have played a LOT, and I have found a team I’m really content with(Robbie B, Pow Wow, Perplexity) we’re still trying to think of a team name, but I’m really happy with this team we all really want to win, and you can tell in our game we do what it takes to try and win every game.
During the 09 season not only do I believe I became a much better Halo player, I grew as a person. In the beginning of the year I was getting t’d up every event for talking trash, I was basically an immature little kid, I would complain a lot, and looking back I feel bad for treating some people the way I did. Due to some really great friends I have changed for the better, and I hope you all see that in me during the season. Good luck to you all.

My 2008 Experience

2008 was a good year for me Halo-wise. I figured this year I would put my name out there, and maybe next year I could be placing well all season. 2008 had it's ups and downs for me, but I had fun all the time.
MEADOWLANDS My team for Meadowlands was Olmec's Posse, it consisted of DSx Ozzy,Killtrocity,ClipseR, and myself. It was a last minute team, we practiced for less than a week. Our bracket was pretty rough, and we managed to get only 4th round.
SAN DIEGO Knowing that I played well at Meadowlands and didn't place well, frustrated me. I played a LOT of halo before San Diego. I didn't think i was going until about a week before the event. Phobia who got 16th at Meadowlands asked to team with me and I saw it as an amazing oppritunity to show my skill at the top. Our team consisted of, Squirrel,Assault,BFox, and myself. We got top 24 losing to Breaking Point game 5. San Diego was not my best event.
ORLANDO Here it is again, before an event and I still have no team. I played even more before Orlando beacuse I knew I was better than how I played in San Diego. I was forced to rely on a sponsor, instead of teaming with a team I was confident in. Our team was WuChabFinnancial, which was ElectriK,Sneak E Beaver, and GunStatus. We practiced for less than a week. I more or less went to Orlando to have fun. We placed last round AM.
TORONTO Here's where the fun begins. I looked high and low for a team. At first it was Ghost Attack, ThRuSt, Aries, and myself. We were solid, but we seemed to argue a lot and all had a differnt mentality as how to play. After that I looked for two players with MyTh, for a few days and couldn't find anyone who was worth even running games with. I asked End Result to drop DARKscorpion for me and MyTh, and they said no. They asked if I wanted to run games with Moniz,Max, and DARKscorpion. I knew they had a ton of potential, I knew Meadowlands was a fluke. I happily agreed, and right off from the first day I knew we were good. We played Instinct and took the majority of the games. We all seemed content with the team, so we decided to team for Toronto. This was about 2 weeks before. We lanned against That's Rough (YungCity,Argyle,True, and KriZeN) at Max's condo before the event. The final score was 33-7 and I was so pumped to play the following day. We ran through AM with ease. Then came PRO bracket. We took AtG to game 5, we lead 2-1 and we sort of fell apart. Now for top 24, we played Sick By Definition. I was really confient I knew we were the better team. We 3-0d them. For top 16 we played Chilled Reality who placed 6th at the last event, and just got done LANning with Final Boss for a week. I'm not going to lie I was nervous haha. We were on fire this series and won 3-0. The following morning we played Status Quo, we were not playing anywhere near our potential and lost game 5.
2008 was an exciting year for me and I can't wait for 2009 to begin ;)

Hey, alot of people think bad of you Gilkey, but I believe you represent alot of young players trying to get somewhere. You may not have the skills of a veteran player, but you have just as much fight in you. If you can get in MLG and play with the "Top" players you give me hope to one day do the same.
Good luck in future events.
