Mellow Mood

Welcome to my blog

Halloween 2009
- November 1, 2009 - 4:45am

Setting the mood I would like to wish the MLG community a Happy Halloween! Right now I am getting the last touches done on my costume before going out. Halloween in a sense for me is getting old, I can’t go out and trick or treat like I used to (a 20 year old going out wouldn’t be cool at all haha) the only thing I have left to do is getting dressed for fun and hit up all the costume parties in the area. Luckily for me the Arizona (UofA) is pretty legit when it comes to Halloween, the parties are sweet and the girls here are fine! So in light of the mood and with Anaheim literally 7 days a way I would like to show you a preview of what’s to come at the event if all goes accordingly. Heaven and Earth has been practicing as much as possible. At first it was tough getting used to each other as it always is when a new member or teams are formed, 2 weeks after joining I have finally found my role and fit in pretty well. I am pretty pumped for this event especially since it’s in California my home state. I feel like everyone has a lot to prove on this team and I hope we show our true colors this upcoming weekend. If your aren’t familiar with our squad, we have KillerDrew Rising start who is just a flat out nasty slayer, Poweezy who is an objective mastermind when you look at the 09 overall season stats, then you have Karma (nasty support player) a Halo legend who was banned for something that wasn’t even his fault at Dallas to being back on the team and wanting to win so bad. Look for us to make some noise in Anaheim and bring back the Heaven and Earth name back into the talks of top 8. I leave you with a game play from my Pov vs. Final Boss Pit Team Slayer 50-42 HaE victory! Granted its Online so don’t get too excited. Thanks for reading see you all in Anaheim!

Even on Halloween I can't escape Halo. Happy Halloween!

Still A Float
- October 1, 2009 - 6:46am

In my last blog I briefly talked about Dallas. It was such a bad event I don’t wish to go into full detail. I think a lot of people felt like Dallas wasn’t fun in terms of gaming, outside of the event it was a blast and had a lot of people come up to me to show some support. Shout out to all the people I met at Dallas. Seem to have some pretty cool fans. It’s been a month in the free agent pool and things don’t look so promising, tried running games with Active Rush, Dynasty, Ambush, and combinations of other elite players in the pool nothing has worked out or yet to hear back. It sucks used to be on a solid team now I am fighting for gamer survival in the MLG world. Hopefully I can get myself back on a solid team, I game almost every day and I am super dedicated. This will past and things will get better I hope. Since the summer has been over been trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I am thinking business management or something in law. Maybe even statistics. One good thing about summer being over is Football season is back so all these intense upsets in college have already happened and the NFL is starting out pretty legit, although my Raiders are getting owned which sucks. Also I had a chance to win a free copy of ODST and I must say I am a little bit disappointed but the remake of Midship is awesome which everyone seems to agree. Been playing loads of ffa’s and it feels just like h2, so in light of the new maps I decided to upload a free for all game play. Some top dogs and also a pretty nasty overkill in the game play, check it out. Thanks again for reading my blog.

Dallas 09 Recap
- October 1, 2009 - 6:44am

It’s been almost a month since the last tournament and the pain is still in my head. Going into Dallas my team was supposed to be; myself, Perplexity, ElumniteWarrior, and Fear. We had a top 16 seed and sponsor with EBK. Everything was ready to go until the last week were Perplexity said he wasn’t going due to the fact that his girl friend wasn’t going to go. There was some miss communication I guess where he thought the sponsor was going to be paying for his girl friend’s ticket. That wasn’t the case; he bailed out on us and left us looking for a 4th with a week till the event. In my 5 years I never had this happened to me where a teammate decided not to go. It was pretty lame seeing as he never got on to practice and he left us out in the cold, if he would have just said no in the first place we could have gone with someone who would have wanted to play and practice and not stuck in a terrible dilemma. We ended up going with Bonfire as a 4th. This tournament was probably the worst in a few years. Placing top 24 and going with a last minute player. The whole time I just kept my stuff together and gamed my heart out. I played really well at Dallas but not enough for our team to win. If you’re bored you should check out my VoD vs Triggers Down pretty neat stuff. Notable series’3-1 tD and losing to Ambush 3-0. Hope to bounce back on a better team come Anaheim. I leave you guys with a game play. Searched the playlist with some pros and got matched up vs. some other pros. Pretty good game, it starts to pick up midway. We end up winning 2-1. Anyways thanks for reading.

Living the High Life
- August 1, 2009 - 3:22am

It’s been almost a month since I last blogged. Summer is always fun and had a chance to catch up with some friends I haven’t seen in almost a year. Being back in Arizona is definitely a change of pace from being in Pennsylvania, the atmosphere and people are two different things. The West coast owns, that’s the conclusion I came up with. The things I will miss about the East are the Victorian houses and all the smart kids from PA and of course Penn State Football games. I won’t miss the cold winter and I won’t miss the dick attitudes everyone has out there but I did learn to cope with it. Going away from that, the last time I blogged I was talking about having a good 4th of July, that I did. I had the opportunity to visit my very good friend xXx and attend his annual 4th of July BBQ, it was a blast and I am glad he had me over. Anytime with xXx is always a good time I have known him since 05, the guys sense of humor never gets old and if you ask stupid questions you will receive stupid answers. The following morning we had to wake up early to attend a Yankee baseball game in which I have to thank GH057ayame and Acid Rush for hooking it up with some tickets. Spent most of the game seat jumping and getting passed security guards, which was pretty fun. Ever since I was a little kid I always wanted to go to a Yankee game, I am not a fan of the Yankees but I respect historical franchises so getting to go was monumental.

Shot at left Field Home Plate Up in the decks taking all sorts of angles of left field.
br> The new Yankee stadium is huge and really nice, there are stores everywhere and a huge elevator that takes you up to your seating section. During the game I was able to see Matsui and Jeter hit home runs, sadly A-Rod wasn’t playing, he took the day off. People in New York Love Jeter, every time he came up to bat the stadium would go nuts, especially when he hit the home run, there were loud chants of “DEREK JETER”. One thing I won’t forget was the drunken fan having a good time leading the chants with a hip hip horary! But with his own twist. Every time Jorge Posada came up he chanted “hip hip Jorge!” and the rest of the crowd would follow. It was quite an experience. Thanks again Acid Rush. The crew that attended consisted of; Ghost, Pistol, xXx, Ghost bro, Ghost dad, and myself. Later I found out that Shibby was also in attendance but in a different section. One last thing while seat jumping I managed to piss off some New Yorker chick and she just kept giving me crap about how I didn’t pay for the seats etc etc. I couldn’t believe how harsh these fans were, let alone to their players, the third basement sub for the Yanks heard it all day after he led up a 3 run error I never heard so many boos.

Bleachers plus jumbo-tron Center Field

Back to Halo, so during the last blog I was in search of a team that I could join for Dallas. I’m not going to lie after a while I almost quit the game it just seemed like everything was turning out for the worse but with support from friends and family I decided to stick with it. I want to see MLG blow up and I want to be there when it happens, I have been a fan of these guys for way too long so I couldn’t go out like a chump. I found a team I am comfortable playing with which consists of; Elumnite, Fear, and Perplexity. It took me a minute to talk Perplexity back into gaming which he seemed to be suffering from the same symptoms I was. Anyways after talks we all joined up and decided to make things work. We will be going as EBK High Life. I decided to bring back High Life because it seemed to fit the team pretty well. High Life stands for chill people who like to have fun while gaming and everyone gets along and doesn’t get mad at each other. You have Elumnite who is full of life and very loud character brings tons of life to the team extremely underrated player if you ask me, Fear who throws in his Illinois flavor, and Perplexity who is from Washington and is a total west coast dude so I am right there with him. I like this team a lot and we have tons of potential from only playing 4x together we have accomplished a lot and hope to improve even more come Dallas. As always thanks for reading and hope to see some High Life Support. Someone make us a sweet sig please, and thanks!

Honestly dude, I think that it's jacked up sometimes with the way people think you as the weakest link on teams that you're on. You're a great player, and a great guy too. Keep your head up and show everyone some Anarchy at Dallas.

Do you want one with all your names on it and your halo 3 icons on it or?.. Because if you do.. I dont know the other guys GT's so I cant look up their logo's.. Msg me a.s.a.p. thru this site or send a message to my gt: "v3Sh 2Fr3Sh" (I think you should message me to my GT cuz I'm most likely playing than being on this site) GL with your new team =).

Columbus Recap / Video Gameplay
- July 1, 2009 - 9:05am

I will Make it short and sweet, so Columbus was a huge disappointment placing 8th once again 2 tournaments in a row. The tournament started out real well for us beating Heaven and Earth 3-1 in the first round. According to the fans vote we were supposed to lose so beaten them was pretty satisfying. Round 2 for the second tournament in a row we had to play Str8 Rippin, this time we thought we had them but once again fell short in the tie breaker, Str8 got clutch and never looked back winning the series 3-2. The placement round we played in turned out to be a bit rough for us having the 2-0 advantage on the forfeited foes. All of a sudden Enables team makes it back and plays somehow winning the 3rd game and putting up a hella of a fight in game 4. Midway through game 4 (narrows ctf) down 0-2 we all look at each other and ask ourselves wtf is going on? All of a sudden a burst of energy comes and we come back to win the game 3-2. For some reason we were never able to get out of a slump once we lost to Str8, our teamwork was off and everything was going bad. Played Kmart shoppers for top 8 and won 3-0.

Our match up for top 6 was against Believe The Hype. The series was not very pretty for us, playing like crap and Believe The Hype dominating on all of our mistakes. The final score was 3-0. After the series was over I was pretty disappointed we put in a lot of time at the Instinct lan to be beaten so early. For some reason we were never able to click as a whole and start raping. Defy played great, I played average, waves played average, and Ghost was assisting. So our slaying game was never going strong in game, vs a team like BTH we needed to slay a bit to stop Soviet and Cloud and then let our team work naturally come in game. Consolation was disappointing losing in game 5 to Status Quo. 8th place sucks, I now a lot of people think pros play for the money but I do not, I play to win like everybody else should. If you don’t think you can win might as well not even go to an MLG.

So it’s almost been a month since the event and here I am team-less. After a poor performance you expect change but I didn’t expect the boot. I had a lot of fun teaming with Shockwave and Ghostayame, they both taught me a lot about the game and me. I will miss teaming with those guys. Good luck to the new Carbon and to Ghost and the new team (Instinct). I believe Ghost will definitely help them propel to a top 2 placing. Being a free agent is extremely difficult now a days since everyone is trying to compete at the pro level so many things can go wrong. I hope to find a team after this weekend if not I don’t know what I will do, I can’t imagine myself on competing at an MLG. So since the event I have moved away from Penn State and back to Arizona, my parents recently informed me that they are selling the house and moving back to California where I will begin a new chapter to my life. Thank god because the internet I have here (qwest dsl) f****** blows. It’s like playing on xbc, skating everywhere. With that brief synopsis I leave you with a game play from the lan vs Instinct back in May. One last look at Pre Carbon Ohio. Enjoy. Have a safe and Happy 4h of July this upcoming weekend!!!

Edit: video will be uploaded once the game room is fixed. Stay tuned.

110 Games Better
- June 1, 2009 - 6:13am

The lan was a success, so in my last blog I mentioned we were setting up a lan vs Instinct in preparation for Columbus. We knew we couldn’t make the same mistake as before and go in without some lan practice under our belts. The dates were set in stone for May 15-20th. In the span of those six days were able to get in 110 games, get some Kianeto gear, learn to know each other a lot better and form new camaraderies, and play with all of Walshys pets, oh Walsh’s mom who is the nicest person ever. Right off the bat I had some good vibes about being at Walshys, the first thing I noticed when I walked in were all of his AGP Halo 1 trophies, I started telling Dave about the first time I Googled Halo tournaments and told him he was one of the first people I read about on the AGP site, that was almost 4 years ago! I was in awe, back in the day I kept track of all those tourneys and now I was in the presence of the trophy shrine it was pretty bad ass and showed how far the game has evolved, and how far I had come.

Setting up was fast and easy, the set up took place down in the basement in the burbs of Grand Rapids with two rooms separating the two teams from hearing each other. We started Gaming the following Saturday since Lunch and Roy got caught up in some Tornado business in Illinois. The lan started off good and ended with two good teams battling it out. Like I said we managed to pump out 110 games which ended up being really good practice for both of our teams. Everyone was definitely satisfied but hungry for more I could tell everyone wanted to keep improving but so many hours can only wipe you out. Our two play styles showed both our teams plus and minuses to our game, by the end of the 4 days both teams evolved rapidly in strategies and learned new things to do in key situations to come up huge for the team. The lan score was pretty close but Instinct came out on top by a small margin. Getting to lan vs a top team was definitely beneficial for our team and for our lan brs. The worst part was coming back home to xbl and play a different game. I can’t wait to lan again and play at Ohio. Everyone better be ready. Defy was the right fit for us and we can’t wait to show it.

I would like to thank Dave for having us over; I had such a great time hanging out with him and his team. His mom was able to cook for us a few of the nights and let me say she can make some banging Omelets. Dave was nice enough to take us to his t-shirt factory and grab some Kianeto gear which was sick, I grabbed so many tees. I must say there are some pretty sick designs and I would recommend buying some. For some reason the co owner drives two vipers, one to keep at home, and the other to drive to work, ridiculous. Getting to know the whole Insticnt bunch was awesome, first time ever hanging out with them for more than a few hours. If we ever get the chance to lan vs them we will definitely have to do it again. Roy is such a funny kid, his sarcasm was killing ghost the whole time ghost was beating Wolverine. Lunchbox was just a cool kid to talk about anything every conversation I had with him carried on forever. Mason is a cool kid, seems like we share a lot of crazy stories every time were at the same place, also managed to get me to play him in the Octagon to 700 kills man my hands were so sore afterward s. As for Walshy I can’t say enough but he’s a damn good guy. Thanks Ms. Walsh and Walshy again for having carbon and instinct in the same house. Both teams will be ready for Ohio. I can’t wait to game, see everyone there, drive safely and fly safe.

Looking Forward Columbus 09
- June 1, 2009 - 5:36am

The team change has made us even hungrier, since the whole debacle with Soviet we have all been determined to put in many hours of gaming to be prepared for meadowlands. If you didn’t know by now Soviet left our team with only a few days to find a 4th before the deadline, the scenario was kind messed up seeing as we had just all booked our tickets to the lan vs. Instinct except Soviet. We knew who ever we picked up that we had to get them to the lan. After a few denials we were left with only one option, Defy. Kind of ironic, back in the day we teamed for Halo 2 and now were back on the same team 2 years later. I know a lot of people are thinking wtf? Can he event compete at the top level anymore? But Defy has played alongside some of the best Halo2 players, placing top 3 numerous times on teams such as; IGS, Str8, and of course LeGendZ. At one point Defy was in the top 3 brs category in the game. Defy knows what it takes to win and I’m damn sure he wants to relive those days.

The team change has definitely put us on Halo alert mode, we know we have a lot of doubters and some don’t even think we will make top 8 at Ohio which is crazy. With the acquisition of Defy we have found new life. Like Us Defy shares all the same ideas and his sense of humor is a huge plus for our chemistry. Oh and did I mention his br is ridiculous?!?!? When joining we showed Defy everything, he had all the basics, we just enhanced the rest with our play style. We are all vets of MLG and share a lot of the same ideas, I can honestly say this is the first team for me were everyone is levelheaded, which has helped us improve really fast over the course of a few weeks. We all know we have to work twice as hard so we can last longer in the winner’s circle this coming weekend and with the right mindset and perfect play we will be able to outlast the competition. I look forward to competing this upcoming week at Ohio with Defy we have a lot to prove, it’s going to be extra tough with our bracket but we should be able to do it.

Im back to blogging.
- May 1, 2009 - 9:34pm

It’s been a minute since I last blogged; gaming has consumed most of my time and ability to give back to the community. Meadowland’s wasn’t exactly what I pictured in my mind to happen with a disappointing 8th place finish, didn’t really feel like venting right after the event because I had other things to deal with outside MLG. We had 3 good weeks of practice and 2 including with Soviet. He made the trip to our place in Penn State and we tried everything in our ability to be ready for the event. We practiced every other day if not every day as threes and whenever waves would get on we would play and scrim. We played pretty well online together not dropping scrims to other top teams. Going into Meadowlands I was the most confident I had ever been before a tournament, I continued my practice regiment after Vegas so I knew if we played to our potential we would be in the top 3. With Soviet at our place I bettered myself a lot from watching him play. The kid is a monster when he is on. He does not miss a br shot and just brains kids all day.

During Soviets stay I somehow managed to get myself into a sensitivity crisis between 3 and 4. Let me tell you if you ever feel like you need to switch your sens because you keep losing xbl br fights don’t switch it! So I made the switch from playing 3 all last season to 4. I found playing on 4 was a lot more on the go and I can get the easier headshot on the bumper jumper kids. I felt like my awareness was a lot better since I was able to turn faster. I felt like 3 I was restricting myself since I would position myself in a key are of the map to br the enemy in comparison to 4 where I just ran around more freely. It was all in my head and it sucked because I learned from Defy never to get in a sensitivity crisis, he used to ask me 24/7 what I thought he would play. If you’re playing well at a tournament with the current sensitivity you shouldn’t change. The biggest change in sensitivity at a tournament is how much faster it actually is on lan so I choked. Playing 4 felt like 5. Anyways after the event I changed back to 3 due to the fact I missed so many easy shots especially vs Triggers Down, my br was awful and got owned. After watching 3 sens players the rest of the event I realized I made a mistake, I also re watched some Vegas vod and assured my decision.

Moving past sensitivity crisis, the event was huge probably one of the biggest openers of the 4 I have been to, if you weren’t there you definitely missed out. With the new bracket and schedule MLG has made us now play on Fridays, so our first match was against Anti Gravity on the main stage. The series was pretty easy I didn’t really play that great but enough to help the team win and win we did 3-0. The night ended with me spectating the rest of Fridays’ match ups, I was interested in seeing what the rest of the competition had up their sleeves. Ended up going to sleep kind of late, we had to wake up early for warm ups, our round 2 match up was against Str8 Rippin. Since Vegas I have been waiting to play them, I knew if our team stuck to our strats we would be the victor, but with the victor comes the spoil. We ended up losing in a pretty good 3-2 series. If anyone wants to watch a sick game watch game 2 narrows ts from my pov. Our mistakes were pretty obvious; we choked pit ctf not running our strats and lost 2-1 in ot. Game 5 we dropped 2 for os when we had a good choke on Str8 and their spawns, soon as that happened all 4 lifted and Snip3down went off picking off kills with the os. During that game I felt like I was playing pretty well leading my team in kills finishing with 15 and then I look at Snip3down and the kid has 18, what a beast. Once again we fell short.

The climb started in the losers, with the new bracket we played a placement round vs. Darkest Hour, this is the series were I noticed how bad my shot was off; I had to completely change roles in game. I guess when I played Str8 I had a completely different mindset. I don’t really remember much of that series but if you want to see a sick no scope on frosty check out guardian ball from GH057ayame’s pov, if you’re super bored check out another one on pit TS. The series was 3-0 CbN. Next match up was against two ex Carbon members Karma and Naded. I watched Vg play on Friday so I knew what to expect, teaming with them before also helps. We started out sloppy Narrows CTF but finished strong 3-2. Vg put up a fight in game 2 pit ts with Naded dropping 22 kills in team slayer, a little redemption? I guess so. Guardian ball was a good game to watch as well, vG got the best of our mistakes closing it out 250-138. Game 4 we got our team shot down after the first few caps and never looked back smashing them 5-2 in their base, 3-1 CbN.

Our road had ended by Triggers Down who ended up winning the event. Their team was on fire not missing shots. They got the best of us and me especially not playing up to my potential. The series was 3-0 tD. Looks like SK got his revenge, but I did say they were the best team going into the event in my ESPN interview. If you haven’t read it check it out, I had some solid predictions pre-meadows. Our team played well at Meadows but we definitely didn’t play to our potential, we had a lot of miss communications and bad positioning and not lanning for 4 months definitely does it to you. For the next event we already have a LAN scheduled vs. Instinct May 15th-20th. So expect us to bring our A game to Columbus. Expect another blog soon. Thanks for reading.

Last Look at Carbon, Meadowlands 09.

Team Change
- January 8, 2009 - 2:17am

Let’s get straight to the point; Naded has been released from Carbon. The decision was made a few weeks following our performance at Vegas. The decision was made after carefully analyzing our performance as team and individual performances. Everyone seemed to have performed well individually some better than others but we all had our games. When it came to team work well that’s were we slacked. We felt that Naded didn’t help us much in the team work side of the map, yeah he was the guy sneaking around like Neighbor but at the same time we were losing easy map control over it. Shockwave, GH057ayame and I are all selfless players that are really aggressive, with Naded we always felt like he was never on the same page as us. Vegas wasn’t the only event were we had this problem. Before we picked him up we knew his history with teams, we knew he was a slayer etc. With Karma leaving after Toronto we were left with a critical decision on who to pick up, the choices were either Legendpimps or Naded. At the time we thought we could mold teamwork into Naded so we went with Naded over Legend. Right off the start the team had clashed with ideas and our views on the game and most importantly strategies.

We figured that with a few months left we could somehow pull it together and the teamwork would come, but that wasn’t the case. With a month before Vegas we hadn’t practiced much as a team, every game we played online seemed like we were always lost on something and didn’t have each others backs. Then came the lan vs Str8. This was really a test to see how we could pull ourselves out of the quicksand we were sinking in; in the lan there were a lot of idea clashes and a lot of dumb complaining coming from the team. The lan seemed to make our team work a lot better but nowhere to were we should have gotten it. With three weeks left, Naded and Shockwave both didn’t get on, I don’t remember the reasons as to why but we were slacking, Ghost and I continued to game everyday since the Lan. With two weeks left we got on and started gaming, for some reason everything we had learned at the lan was gone. Enough was enough; Ghost took matters into his own hand and went over everything we had learned together over the last month and half. This really ended up helping. He set guidelines for what to do in every scenario, if we followed them he said we would win the event. I believed him.

After the event like I said we evaluated before making and rash decisions. It came down to releasing Naded, keeping him, picking up Karma, or picking up Soviet. We knew what we wanted, and that was change. We felt with Naded we couldn’t tell him constructive criticism without him bickering back at us. If you want you’re team to get better you have to be able to tell your team or teammates what to do better in order to improve, even if it means calling someone out on their in game behaviors. Yeah we all know Naded can slay, but slaying doesn’t mean everything, he just wasn’t the player the team was looking for. I wish Brett luck with his future team, I am sure he won’t have a problem finding a new one. It’s a shame how something’s that you want to work can’t, but who’s to say we didn’t give it a legitimate chance. We were forced to pick Naded of all the players; he wasn’t the ideal player we wanted after losing Karma. Looking back at that day it was a hard spot to be in. I loved Brett he was such a character so I hope whatever camaraderie was built inst lost and forgotten. Good luck kid!

So with the release of Naded comes the acquisition of Soviet. We feel with Soviet on the team we can get new life going into the new season, we can also talk to him on a level headed planet and get things done on the same page. If you watch Soviet play he has that sneaky factor also but is always putting fire in the direction of his teammates, the kid has potential to be the best in the game. With Coach Ghost we hope to mold Soviet into a team playing beast and help Carbon push into the finals match come Meadows. By the way this is the second time teaming with Soviet so I know he will fit right in with our teams chemistry, the hard part will be all the hours of gaming. I look forward to playing with Soviet again I felt like when we split ways we had a lot to prove after a disastrous start back in the 08 opener on Bad Co. After a long season we have met again, we used to get a long really well and we continued to be friends as the season went on; Dimitri is the man so it should be easy for him settling in with us. Everyone seems to be excited for the change and we look forward to practicing and enjoying each others company in game. Look out for us in the months to come on xbl and in the opener in April.

09 Carbon Roster

ShocKWav3
GH057ayame
Cpt Anarchy
Soviet

Last but not least, I was wondering if anyone could make us a sick Carbon signature with the new roster. Something like this one or something better.

Soviet has serious potential to be the best player in the game. We all know he can slay, but Soviet also had the most objective time in Vegas. We destroys in LAN, he just needs to get over the jitters and do his thing

Vegas 08 Aftermath / The Inbetween /
Current Events
- December 10, 2008 - 7:31am

Intro:

Vegas baby! So all the training and long hours of gaming all come to an end. This is the one tournament where everything matters, it shows you who the best team is and who worked their butts off. To my knowledge there hasn’t been any upsets in the Championships, the better team always wins. Vegas is a big deal, it could either make or break your next season. Las Vegas is always a true test to the player’s nerves; $100,000 for first place, any mistake can cost you. Winning is on everyone’s mind so you have to show up to play, you can’t overlook anyone or you’re the chump getting upset the first round. Coming into Vegas it was true test to our team and especially me.

I haven’t written in a blog in a while, I tried to stay away from the MLG site and focus on gaming and daily life activities, a little too much MLG makes your head start spinning. After the Vegas weekend I definitely owed it to a lot to write an aftermath, so here we go. Like I stated in the intro Vegas was a true test. Carbon has been a franchise team dating back to early 2006. Vegas is a big deal for Carbon, back in 2006 they were the underdogs to win the Halo 2 Championship vs. the heavy favorite Final Boss. Since then Carbon has always been a top 3 contender and a threat to other teams. Being a member of Carbon wasn’t all I thought it would be initially. We ran into a lot of trouble and bad charm. We didn’t know what it was and it began to bother us all. Of course came all the disappointed that led to the departure of Karma. As a team and as a player we received a lot of hate, it was tough dealing with it but as an athlete you have to look past those who try to bring you down, so we did.

Three 7th places in a row there was obviously something wrong, enough is enough. Time to game, game was exactly what I did. After Dallas I was honestly tired of being put down by the millions of clowns that surf the site and game on xbox live. I felt all the respect I had gained in the past was just forgotten and I was just a has been. I left nothing on the line and started training harder than I have in any other season including Halo 2. The last time I actually remember practicing so hard was Los Angeles aka Anaheim 2005. I knew the problem right off the start with the help of a good friend and teammate GH057ayame. I took all the criticism he had to lay down on me and took it to improve my game. I started playing MLG playlist on my real tag, not my AoD fakes; BleSsinGs or LeGendaRy. Doing this allowed me to see how everyone truly played, as a pro you get challenged by no shield guys all the time, so they can prove they can kill a pro, whoopdie doo. For a while I was so used to just running through kids on my fake, where was the challenge? I got over it; I jumped on Cpt Anarchy every day after Dallas and took everything that came at me. Losing was no longer losing online, it was losing in general. I didn’t want to lose to anyone no matter who player or the pro was. I was the second Pro to get a general in the new playlist after Legit of course. I had gamed harder than any of the other top 8 teams, I always saw the same people online, Tsquared,Walshy, Roy, Karma, Legit, Snipedown, Elamite, Neighbor, and Ghostayame. I knew if they were busting their butts off I wasn’t going to let off the gas.

Three weeks of online gaming can eventually drive someone nuts, but not me I learned so much from the game, the ins and outs and what was consistent for me and what wasn’t. But then again it was still xbox live, not LAN. Setting up a LAN for Vegas was number one on the list for preparation, so we talked to the number 1# seeded team Str8 Rippin to see what their plans for a LAN were before the upcoming event. They told us they were interested, the LAN took place in Orlando at Legits Condo. The LAN was huge, everything I learned online seemed to work but I just had to slow it down, a lot. Every game I tried to be as analytical as possible towards my team and my own game play, doing this helped our team so much we all opened our ears to each other’s constructive criticism and vastly started improving in game vs. Str8. I don’t know what the LAN score was but they won. The LAN only lasted 3 days since a few of us had to return to school. After the LAN was complete I spoke to my team about our dedication level for Veags, I was honest (we don’t get on, we won’t get past winners r1 or even losers r1 if we keep this up) we have to get on, no iffs or butts. I really thought me telling this to my teammates they would somehow listen and get a fire lit under their @$$.

Come tournament time Eric decided that we needed a team meeting to discuss how we should all approach the event coming up. He set up guidelines to follow and stuff that we needed to do in order to win games. If we all listened and followed the guidelines we shouldn’t have a problem going into Vegas no matter who the team was. Going over every map was huge for us because Eric and I gamed so much we learned so many things, so filling in our team in all of our new strategies was huge. For some reason Waves and Naded didn’t play in-between the LAN and the event until the leading week. Thanks guys. By this point all the hours I had put in the game had shown. One last obstacle was left and it was Vegas. With less than two weeks away I had the chance to go to T2’s house in New York and get some serious games in. Being at his condo and seeing how serious he took gaming really changed my look on it. I guess over the years I lost sight of how serious this actually is. Growing up and school can do that to you. Playing with squared really wanted me to try every game; if someone isn’t trying he’s the guy letting you know that you need to step it up. I was able to chill at squared for 3 days before he left for his teams upcoming LAN. Anyone who tells you Tom Taylor isn’t a cool guy is completely wrong. Thanks for everything Tom.

Las Vegas:

Vegas had arrived and it couldn’t have come any faster. I was pretty excited for this event because I wanted to see how things were going to finish after a hectic Halo 3 season. I arrived on Thursday around 2:00pm. I haven’t been in the West Coast dating back to the end of July so I was pretty pumped to be in Vegas. The second I got off the plane I felt like I was back in my coast, everything felt good. Went out Thursday to the strip and enjoyed the Vegas scenery and debauchery it has to offer. Friday was a kickback day for our team seeing as none of us were in the all star game, we tried to find some stations to warm up but we were fooled by MLG and all the stations were used for other games. We ended up going to bed early seeing as we had to wake up at 8:00am to warm up before the tournament started. We managed to set up a scrim with Str8 in their room before the event started. The LAN lasted about 3 hours, mostly an hour and half of scrims and then br practices to get our shots down. Both teams seemed pretty confident in their teams so br practice seemed like the right idea. After warm ups we headed down to the venue to play, our match up wasn’t on the main stage so we had to play at one of the stations at the front of the venue. Our first round match up was against Triggers Down who had just won Dallas a month ago with Karma our ex teammate. Grudge Matches are always great, you always want to prove to your ex team or team member that they were wrong with whatever their decision was, whether leaving the team or getting kicked off one, in our case Karma had left. Going into this match we ran over the game types, we knew that the game we had to steal if we wanted to beat tD was Onslaught CTF.

We did just that with an intense come from behind 5-4 Win. The games control shifted back and forth between team and they seemed to capture 2 flags right away to gain the lead and keep the game in their control, with a few clutch plays we managed to pull it out with a must win game 1. The rest of the series was up to us to win or lose we knew that Narrows was our best game type so if we got to game 5 there were would be no way we would lose. Ts Pit was game 2, the whole game I just remembered being a second behind my teams moves, I needed to settle down a bit, I guess my adrenaline was going crazy and I got a bit flustered in the beginning when I got sniped by FearItSelf twice in camo and thinking “why is he there with sniper, dammit!” We seemed to be controlling the game well with a 10 kill lead but we somehow managed to slip up and tD came with a strong push and managed to come from behind with some clutch sniping by Hysteria and a huge overshield possession. Game score 50-47 tD. I was clearly the reason we lost that game and I can say that because I was literally off sync with our team’s pushes and flanks and I went neg 7. I had to step it up seeing as we had just missed an opportunity to go up 2-0.

Game 3 King of the Hill Pit. This was a game type we knew we were good at and could pull a 2-1 lead. We controlled the map pretty well against tD, especially the Hill. We never looked back after racking up huge in one of the hills and won the game 250-122. We were up 2-1and in the position to knock out tD, unfortunate for us our worst map in general was up…Guardian. To sum it up Hysteria went off after waves of unorganized charging tD slapped us around and won 250-122, kind of ironic. So it all came down to game 5 Ts narrows, we knew exactly what the game plan was. The game was intense more people had gathered around since all the matches had ended and ours had pushed to game 5. Control went back and forth top mid, in the end our team came up with rockets, Shockwave went on to get a huge triple kill, I pick up the rockets and get a 2-1 to end the game , our team erupted seeing as we were the biggest underdogs going in. Oh and of course we beat Karma who left us with 1 tournament left to go so it was clutch. The picture below explains it all. Good games to tD, don’t be so upset SK.

Going nuts

Upset Alert Number 2

Setting up for the match. Cbn vs FB

Round 2 match up battle of the titans Carbon, Final Boss. Going into this we knew we weren’t going to let what happened in Dallas repeat. We knew we could beat them, in our previous meeting at Dallas the series was pushed to a game 5 after being down 2-0. Our game carried over from the previous series and we started rolling over Final Boss. Game 1 was a close CTF Pit game we kept flanking and getting them all dead but we somehow couldn’t execute the flag capture. The game was tied 1-1 for a while but in the end with a huge push to their side of the map we got the cap to take game 1, the series was now 2-1. Game 2 was Pit Ts, if we could do what we did vs tD we wouldn’t have a problem i just had to step it up, I ended up going nuts with 15 kills and was on track with my team this time around. I knew I had to step it up, who else was going to run rockets on my team? (joking) The game was out of reach for FB after the second OS possession we just pushed into their base and picked them off 2v1. Final score 50-40. Game 3 was our worst friend Guardian, we seemed to be feeding of intensity to be winning the game, with some unfortunate decision making our team came up short, Final Boss just had more play balls than we did. Final score 244-199.

Game 4 Contstruct king of the hill. One of our strongest game types, I mean we have Dr. Contsruct on our team aka GH057ayame the man got his p.h.d. in construct. This game was intense the game went back and forth but with some nasty plays from our team we seemed to be controlling the game up until FB went nuts and gained control of the hill and rockets. The game came down to a huge push from lobby by me followed by GH057 with his help I was able to pull off a huge Triple Kill and almost a potential Overkill Extermination but Ghost flew at the last guy to push for hill control, thanks Eric could have been a nasty top 10 play from Vegas. All we had to do was play out the hill and keep FB from taking it back the game was almost over in 50 seconds. With a premature celebration I stood up thinking the game was over but it wasn’t! FB had to hold the hill and they would win, major choke in my head, immediately our coach and great friend of the team Tom pushes me down screaming “WHAT ARE YOU DOING ITS NOT OVER YET!” I sit back down and somehow I was still alive and I snuck away to mid gold and threw two clutch nades into the hill to keep them out and allow our team to win by a crazy 3 seconds. Final Boss had been taken down 3-1 by Carbon. Oh and my boy Ghost went off like I knew he would with a beastly 43-21 performance. GG FB. (Check out the video of the pregame-celebration)

Cutting to the end:

No one in the venue seemed to know what was going on, first tD then FB. We knew we were highly underestimated which I could understand seeing as we had placed poorly for most of the season, but for most of it we knew we had the potential to beat these teams ahead of us. We never stopped trying in any of those games, and it really showed we were there to play. Our next match up was against our good friends Str8 Rippin. If I could do anything it would be to go back to that series and re play that game 2. We ended up losing 3-2 with a bad game 5 performance 50-36. Str8 really had us down, the start was pretty much the tone setter, I am usually the guy that controls rockets on my team and Tsquared and Elamite had me on lock, they got rockets the whole game and never looked back. The series really showed how far our team came, we were on Str8’s level and almost knocked them to the losers, but good teams can overcome adversity even when they are up against the wall. Str8 showed why they were number 1 and came back and won the next two knocking us into the losers.

This set up our loser’s bracket finals match up vs. Instinct. I don’t know how to describe this series. I tried just as hard the whole series as before but I think maybe our team was a bit out of it since we had just lost. Little mistakes kept us from winning a close game 1, CTF onslaught 5-4. Game 2 was Ts Construct and we took that down we ran our strats and everything played out with us winning 50-38. Game 3 was pit king of the hill so we knew we could change the series in our favor. We didn’t come up with hill time, there were so many times we could have jumped in but we didn’t. The game came down to a crazy hill stand on the blue side of the map, all Instinct had to do was kill all 4 and the game was theirs, we tried our best to stay in the hill to the end but it wasn’t enough with a strong push from their team they came up clutch winning 234-211. Game 4 was Narrows which is our best game type, to sum up how I felt about our teams performance decreased, we lost this game type surprisingly 3-1. Not taking anything away from Instinct but it felt like we didn’t run our game and handed them a win. I don’t know what happened to our team but it felt like we just gave up midway through the game, we just somehow manage to be stuck back of the base. *If anyone wants to check out a sweet triple kill start up the beginning of the Narrows game vs. Instinct. So the tournament was over for us. After all the turmoil and hard work, a 3rd Place Carbon, and where better than Las Vegas. We felt great with our placing but at the same time we felt like we could of almost won the whole thing. All Cinderella stories come to an end.

OOPS Waves, who ever made this is the man, too funny.

Fumblewaves

Up To Date:

So it’s been two and half weeks since the event that I touched a controller until today (Dec 9th). The offseason is something I always look forward to. I try to stay away from video games as much as possible, MLG really takes a lot out of you during the year, so many hours put into a game keeps you away from your daily routine. I plan on gaming casually up until 3 months before the next season. I will also be doing lessons so hit me up on xbl gt: Cpt Anarchy. Las Vegas really helped me find my swagger in the gaming world again, all my hard work paid off. With that said I am excited for 2009. Carbon made a statement in Vegas, we aren’t done. 09 is going to be nuts. I would like to thank the 6% of the fans that believed in us at Vegas, I would also like to thank any of the Carbon fans that never lost faith in us. Also thanks to everyone who congratulated us in Vegas everything was going so fast that I didn’t have time to thank everyone.

With that said the off season has already started out great, after the event had ended we got hooked up with 4 free tickets 2nd Row to La Reve the aquatic circus show at the Wynn Casino courtesy of one of our boys Acid Rush, thanks so much again Rush. The following Night consisted of Mystere at Treasure Island, Ghost and I decided to say an extra day so we scooped with the 2008 Champs Legit and Tsquared to the show. Since then life is good, lifting some weights, college business, hit up the T.I show here at Penn state was pretty sweet. Other than that I look forward going back to AZ for X-mas and away from this tundra, should be there for a few weeks. This coming week there’s a huge rave party so that should be a good time. I plan on sticking out in PA for another semester before going back to UofA, so the Los and Ghost combo will be stronger than ever come Meadows. My 20th Birthday is coming up in January so should be a good time.

Thanks for reading, glad we won over some fans back thanks for the support, look forward to seeing what MLG has in store for us in 2009, see everyone at the opener!

Dallas Mini Preview
- October 1, 2008 - 1:58am

With Dallas playoffs only a few days a way I have decided to talk about the training regimen that has been taken place between my teammate GH057ayame and myself. Since our other two teammates are doing god knows what we took the liberty to catch up to the competition with 3 days of overly excessive gaming. It all started when the auto update came out, after 3 days of gaming and a break over the weekend I have managed to log in about 150 games of MLG and giving me 102 exp points. Our extreme measures have led our 2v2 team work to excel but we are a bit worried on how it will play out at Dallas with our other two teammates not playing as much.

I have made my best efforts to get better since my last performance in Toronto. One of the biggest problems for me this season has been finding my tournament zone. For some reason I have finding my zone every other round. Whether I think my shot is off, or my smarts off I lose my focus. So what I did to practice my tournament zone was have 10 people at a time in my room watching halo, watching TV, listening to music, talking, yelling, and anything else that could cause a distraction. I practiced until I didn’t notice them. This helped me a lot in game, sounds funny but I swear it works.

Another one of the problems I had was a sensitivity crisis. I always seem to have a panic attack when I get a new controller. I’ll mess with the sticks and they won’t feel right. As we all know a lot of 360 controllers come malfunctioned; some can’t seem to turn as fast as we react, others won’t fire or misfire, and sometimes the bumpers don’t even work. So I decided to buy 2 controllers for Dallas. It was all going good when one night had a few people over and someone managed to trample over my controller and break the right stick out of its place. So there went a brand new (best 360 controller I have gotten) controller. Good thing I was prepared with another brand new one. With this controller everything seems fine but at times I will go to turn fast to the right or left and just get stuck turning slow. It seems to have gotten better but at times it gets frustrating. This is kind of a factor seeing as I switched from 4 to 3 and turning is a downgrade when you play a lower sensitivity. I like the smoothness of 3 and I plan on staying on it for the rest of the season. Looking forward to see how I play on lan on 3.

Moving on, like the other top teams we tried finding a lan before Dallas. With no luck we had to abandon the idea. It seems like everyone we talked to was busy with school or just blew us off and never got back to us. I really can’t say how we will do this coming weekend but we are already guaranteed top 8 and a trip to Vegas. Carbon has had a rocky season so we shall see how it all pans out. I look forward heading out to Dallas. Dallas has always been one of my best events so I look to play some good halo this weekend. Hope to see some fans out there. Everyone have a safe flight or whatever your transportation may be. One last thing come check out the team over at the Stride Booth we will be there Saturday for two appearances. See ya in Dallas!

^ Why would you diss on a guy thats working hard to improve himself, when the others arent? He is trying to make something out of his situation, and he is working hard to get better. Just a suggestion : I played on 4 in Toronto and destroyed (I was on Active Rush) and I tried going down to 3 for Dallas, and it just didnt work. Online it honestly did better than it did on lan. Did you play well on it? They havent released any vod yet.

Hell of a tourney man!! You def. had a top 5 tourney out of anyone that i saw all weekend long. It def. shows practice and dedication pays off in the end!! This team def. can do big things in 09!!! i mean you guys prolly had the least amount of practice together out of any of the teams at vegas and come in and get 3rd, and were extremely close to 3-0'ing Str8. I never use to be a carbon fan till this year, when you got on the team and then when naded got on the team, made carbon a fan fav. imo. Good luck in 09, keep up the hardwork.

Carbon Update
- September 12, 2008 - 12:57am

So it’s been a while since I blogged. I usually try to keep the community up to date with tidbits but I haven’t had much time in a while. So Toronto was two and half weeks ago, Carbon went into the event as a redemption event from Orlando’s disappointing finish. We spent a week together prior to the event in preparation. We seemed to have worked out all the kinks we had been sucking at. One week left before the event we were supposed to lan vs. UTI but it fell through due to some transportation issues. So Shockwave used the week before to the event to go to V-Tech to move into his new apt. and sort it out. At the same time Ghost and I both went to Penn State to fix up our new place. We took a 5 day break and decided to rendezvous back at Waves near King of Prussia which was 3 hours from State College. Five days later we met up again. We only had 2 days before we flew out to practice so we took advantage of it.

Skipping the in-between: Saturday Rolled around and it was time for Pro bracket to start. Our biggest match in the bracket would be round 3 against Instinct. Second round turned out to be a minor bump in the road vs. Breaking Point but Carbon prevailed 3-1 dropping Team Slayer Pit. Now came the task at hand, our match vs. Instinct. At the beginning of the match I felt like our team had pretty good control of the map. We had a quick flag pull to start the game. We managed to get the flag to our side of the map numerous times but only to have it stuck in our pit. We seemed to never get the last guy that was guarding the flag so we can move into position to cap it. Instinct held strong to camo and green and we couldn’t do much off the spawn in sniper. So that led to slow but 3-0 Instinct CTF PIT win. We made a lot of team mistakes and it seemed like our team work was way off on one side of the map. The next two gts were Narrows ts, and Guardian Ball. I don’t remember much of those games but we lost both of them. It seemed that we had played the Instinct game and that was chase rather than play our game. We kept getting in 3v1 or 3v2 scenarios. They seemed to always move in a perfect team formation. We were finished for the night and had to wake up at 11 to play for top 8.

We played UTI for top 8 and it was a pretty easy victory after a quick 3-0. The next match was for top 6 and our opponent was Ambush. Ambush has been an underdog this entire season; they are a team of pure unpredictability you really don’t know what they are going to do. I don’t really care about the first three games because the series came down to game 4 and 5. Game 4 was Onslaught CTF, easily one of our best game types. Within the first two minutes of the game we capped. We had control of the map and position to spawn kill. This is when all hell broke loose. For some unknown reason we were never able to cap the flag after the first cap. We had their flag at our base in front of our flag every time. One of us would go to cap it and get naded over the box. Just stupid little things would stop us from getting the cap, oh and the guy that would always snuck off to our base with us knowing he is going to be waiting for the return. Frustration at its finest, Ambush capitalizes in the end after a lot of defensive stands 5-1.

So it all came down to game 5 Team Slayer Amplified. Amp is either hit or miss. You’re team has to start off strong in order to hold onto the lead in the fast pace kill fest. A lot of br battles and running away. This was one of our best game types, we made sure to practice it because amp is a random map. So the game was going our way up 8-10 kills midway. We had them where we wanted them picking them off. The score at one point was 40-32 and I thought in my head “there is no way we lose”. I thought wrong. For some reason we all died in our positions and got caught bottom red corner purple side. Ambush throws massive nades to red and pick up more kills. We stand off and go up 46-45. They catch up after a ridiculous play, Cloud is red 2, Ghost just got killed red side purple corner, Ghost is respawning, and Cloud throws a plasma nade to blue 2, the grenade lands and sticks Ghost off the spawn. They tie the game 48-48. We get another kill gold side of the map and take the lead, and then two Carbon members go down and we lose 50-49. After the game I really had no idea how to feel or what to think. I didn’t see the series panning out the way it did. The rest of my team felt the same way but we finished playing consolation vs. Anti Gravity for 7th. We ended up beating Anti Gravity 3-0. Two disappointing 7th places in a row.

A few days after the event I couldn’t stop thinking about that stupid game 5. Like how can something like that just happen. I thought the same thing when I heard Ambush beat Str8 Rippin in Orlando in the same scenario. Getting beat is never fun, but I would rather get destroyed 50-25 than lose 50-49. The event was a learning experience; don’t look past a team in the remaining minutes of a crucial game. This wasn’t one of my best events; my shot was so off on Saturday which pretty much sucks when it comes to halo 3. If you can’t shoot you can’t do anything for the team besides objective, and that’s what I should have done. Sunday my shot was a lot better but not to my potential. The weekend was a waste. To resolve my shot issue I resorted to lowering my sens to 3. 3 sens seems to be working for me pretty well and I just have to keep working at it from now until Dallas.

Looking ahead, as a lot of you know Karma left our team to join Triggers Down. After the event we all headed our ways knowing the summer was over and we wouldn’t be able to game next to each other until the next event being Dallas. I didn’t ever really see Ben leaving Carbon seeing as he has been part of the team since the beginning. After all that we had gone through over the summer nonstop gaming next to each other, the Lan vs. Str8, the boot camping before Toronto. We just fell short every time. There always seemed to be something stopping us. So Ben’s reasoning for leaving was not that we weren’t skilled enough but that Karma is such a prideful person about his stature in the Halo world. He was the national 1v1 champion and 4v4 champion at one point in time. Our team chemistry was great, we were all like best friends the ones you have back at home. My personal opinion is yeah s**t wasn’t going our way but to leave with two events after we had put so much into it is kind of disappointing. We should have at least finished out the event.

I have no hard feelings towards Karma because he is my boy, and he always will be. I have a lot of respect for him as a player. I don’t necessarily know how he will fit on TD but I wish him the best of luck…. Now for the newest member for Carbon…NADED!!! After Ben told us he was leaving he gave us a few people to look into that would fit us pretty well and Naded was one of them. Ghost even called Elamite who is very knowledgeable of players in the circuit and he also said that he was most impressed with Naded at Toronto. So after 5 days of searching for him we finally got to him to join our squad. I couldn’t be much happier with the 4th we picked up, yeah we lost Karma a sneaky beaver, but we gained Naded a slaying monster that can go off with the right support players. We think Brett aka Naded will compliment us a lot better than Ben with time. Ben seemed to always control one side of the map but never move, and just have people come to him. But with Naded we can run and Gun. It’s just going to have to take a lot of practice to get Naded into the loop. So we look ahead to Dallas with a new team and a new beginning for Carbon. I am very excited for Dallas seeing as it’s always been a good city for me to play in. I seem to go off every time, and after Toronto’s performance I am going to have to do just that. Hope to see some Carbon fans in Dallas.

Ah, Naded. It's good to finally see him on a team that he can do some damage with. He's been one of my favorites for a long time, and now I hope he actually has a chance. The guy's a beast; just let him do what he does. :)

I'm so excited to see how naded will work with you guys. I've always been a fan of his, but I've always been frustrated with his inability to make it on a top team even though he is good enough. Hopefully you guys will do amazing, and get your first win and naded's first win in Dallas.

Carbon Team Lessons
- June 29, 2008 - 12:05pm

For those of you who haven’t heard, we are doing team scrims for those aspiring to go pro. These scrims show what playing a pro is like. If you want to scrim against Carbon, e-mail CarbonScrims@gmail.com. Rates are $20 for a game, $50 for 3 games, or $80 for 5 games (This is not each, but total). Method of payment will be paypal only. Between and after games, our team will go over possible strategies or techniques to help your teamwork. We will also each watch a video with one of the players on the challenging team for a gametype to help individual skill as well. Also Ghostayame and Karma are doing account leveling if you are interested. Most likely if you agree to let them level you up the room will consist of both or myself helping level the account up, this way the account leveling process goes as quick as possible so the customer can get their account asap. Contact them through their XBL gamer tags. CbN GH057ayame, The MLG Karma.

Karma is also doing best of 3’s in where you play him 1v1 on three maps, and he then goes over what you did wrong from match as soon as the game is over. Karma is one of the smartest players in the circuit so he can help you with anything. I plan on doing account leveling after Orlando for those interested and for those who of asked of my services. So if you can’t get that 50 that’s been hindering you for months, sign up and let Carbon help you get it.

Show some Carbon Love for the upcoming event in Orlando July 11th-13th.

Just WOW! Firstly, charging people 20 dollars to play a game against you guys is daylight robbery, its nice of you to offer the whole strategy and "what went wrong" talk after the match, but that money is just ridiculous and really paints you guys as sell-outs in my view. But, even worse, you guys are level boosting people!?!? Something that is frowned on by Bungie, and loathed by the majority of the halo community!?!?! Screwing up the ranking system for everyone else, abusing your talents to get yourselves money, and making us legit 50's look even worse! Absolutely amazing, I was really rooting for you guys and have always looked up to Karma and Ghost....but now I don't know how I can support you. You've become complete sell-outs...

Tha Carter III
- June 28, 2008 - 11:23am

The Carter III is out and like many weezy fans I have enjoyed the cd. The Carter III takes the songs to a whole new level but still some of the same repetitions in Wayne’s raping. I feel like Wayne just prolonged the cd to gather more hype for a mediocre cd. I could have made a better Carter III with singles floating around on mix tapes. The cd is great but nothing amazing like “best rapper alive” status. My favorite songs on the album would have to be in order; 3 peat, Shoot Me Down, Let The Beat Build, Playing with Fire, Mr. Carter (Jay-Z is the $#1t) and You Ain’t Got Nuthin Juelz tears it apart. But as a counter argument as Lil Wayne being the best proclaimed rapper alive, that’s all a bunch of fuss Lil Wayne isn’t a rapper he’s an entertainer. He says and comes up with the most ridiculous one liner’s anyone can think of. A lot of people think he doesn’t make any sense but then again you have to understand that the guy saying these crazy words is a syrup sipping fiend and likes to get lifted.

Photobucket

I am a huge music guy and I always like to hear people’s opinions on artists especially with the kind of talent now a day’s artist come and go with one hit wonders all the time. With this said Lil Wayne isn’t even my favorite Jay-Z is, he’s the roc boy. Black Album is the sickest. He is the man and I hope he comes out with one more album before he calls it quits. Anyways if you haven’t picked up the cd for some unknown reason I recommend you check it out.

Jay-z and Lil Wayne

Out of the 6 songs I mention the album carries some filler’s but the last song Don’t Get it is just what sums up Weezy. Many will never consider him the best because he never will be, kind of like no one is better at basketball than Michael Jordan. The way I see it Lil Wayne can’t rip the track every time he spits, he has to change it up. As many questioned Lil Waynes Lollipop song being a joke and nothing like his work, its true it isn’t but we live in a new era of music, where the artist can do anything and make bank. Voice mixers, nasty beats and unforgettable chorus seems to be hot at the moment. Oh and La La, Phone Home are pretty sick too. I still don’t understand why comfortable was on the cd can someone say old? And Mrs. Officer wack. Got Money good example of what rap has become today just like any other T-Pain song, but most definitely a hot song at the parties.

lil wayne money on my mind

If you only got the regular version of the cd you’re not missing out on the special edition with the extra 5 songs. The songs have been out for a while now the only cool thing is that their just re-mastered and actually on a cd. The extra cd includes Action, Whip It, Gossip, the song that best describes Lil Wayne I’m Me, Talkin About It, Kush and one of my favorites Love me or Hate me. Anyways let me know what you think. But seriously 3 Peat is the sickest song, no hook, intro just a nasty song.

Carter 3

1. 3 Peat 2. Mr. Carter 3. A Milli 4. Got Money 5. Comfortable 6. Dr. Carter 7. Phone Home 8. Tie My Hands 9. Mrs. Officer 10. Let the Beat Build 11. Shoot Me Down 12. Lollipop 13. La La 14. Playing with Fire 15. You Ain't Got Nuthin 16. Don’t get It

Disc 2

1. Action 2. Whip It 3. I’m Me 4. Gossip 5. Kush 6. Love me or Hate Me 7. Talkin’ About It

I agree on what you said about Lil Wayne and his album. The only thing is, that I see it as Lil Wayne is a rapper, but he's not an MC. There's a big difference in between the two. If you ask me Kanye West is the best out there. But thats just me. JMHood 09 is my gamertag. just thought i'd throw it out there. lol.

The Dust has Settled
- June 27, 2008 - 1:55pm

So San Diego was probably the most enjoyable event I have been to in a while. The fact that it was in California made it 100x better. I was pumped from the beginning and I decided to take a Cali road trip with my friend Brian from home and Ghostayame who flew out prior to the event. It was also sweet to have a bunch of my friends from home come to an event and see for themselves what an actual event is in comparison to watching me play at home on xbl. After the weekend they grew a whole new respect for the competitive gaming scene. My team going into the event was High Life which consisted of Wooly, Swisha, and Pyrocy. Never did I think I would team with any of these 3 guys, first of I really enjoyed playing with my team they were the most well rounded players and their personalities were sweet. We had no team issues and we seemed to flow pretty well as a team; with a few adjustments we could have been even better in a future event. But with turmoil in other teams placing comes team changes and this is where it all starts.

With 2 weeks left till Orlando I couldn’t be more excited. For those of you who haven’t heard, I was fortunate enough to be recruited by carbon in place of Gandhi. If you want to know why I recommend you read Ghostayames and Karmas blog for the reason of the team change because I really can’t answer that question. I am pretty excited for the upcoming event and just for the rest of the season in general. Teaming with 3 people that I have always gotten along so well with, in game and in real life is awesome. Everyone has fun and is really open minded for improvement. It’s also sick to re-unite the Ghost-Anarchy DUO. We used to be really nasty on the same team slaying fools and now it’s been 2 years since we have teamed and teaming again seems like we have teamed for years.

The decision came 3 days after San Diego, at first I was ecstatic but felt horrible for my ex team seeing as the Deadline for team changes was one day away. Luckily mlg realized that a lot of teams made changes and moved the deadlines a few days later. So I called my team to inform them of the events that were about to happen, I was really happy the way my teammates took it. I will miss playing with High Life all a bunch of great dudes. I recommend if you’re looking for some nasty teammates you hit up wooly, pyrocy and swisha. I wish them luck and hope to continue being friends. The event well pretty well for us considering we had to play through am into the pro bracket. Our only loses came to Triggers Down and Carbon. In consolation our teams mindset was “oh well we lost its over, I don’t want to play halo” so we didn’t even try as a team, we all just ran around and had fun. High Life Final placing 12th.

So now that I am on Carbon I been reading a lot of the communities’ reactions. It’s always good to see what the community says, even though I don’t let anyone get in my head, it’s always good to use the bad comments you get to fuel you to play even better in the upcoming event. With that said I don’t really care what everyone thinks about it because in the end the only thing that matters is what my team thinks. I look forward to the few weeks of scrimmin with my team; I look forward learning everything I can possibly learn to become a better halo player. With teammates like Shockwave, Karma and Ghost it shouldn’t be a problem. Everything I have learned has come from these guys. Our practice regiment for the event is going to be pretty heavy duty. We are scheduled to lan against Str8 from the 4th of July until the event. The lan should be a blast and we look forward to playing Str8 currently the best halo 3 team.

Well I plan on updating you guys the next few days with updates on how the team is doing because I am sure a lot of people are curious on how this team change will affect the team Carbon. So far everything is going well. The wave and I still have some stuff to work on but going from slaying with minimal support to pure help is crazy. Having 3 other heads having the same mindset as you help’s so much, it allows you to freely move around the map without worrying where the rest of your team is. Anyways I don’t want to say anything else. Carbon will be ready for Orlando. This is probably the dullest blog I have written in a while but I promise a good one is coming. Also I have gotten a lot of messages in regards to what account I use. It’s CbN Anarchy. Cpt Anarchy is also my account but I just let my friends play on it. They suck so take it easy on them. Check back soon for another update on team Carbon.

Last look at High life from left to right. Pyrocy, Swisha, Wooly, Myself. High Life

Wow... that is all I have to say. Teams change man, they didn't stab anyone in the back. If Carbon wanted to keep placing low they would've kept Gandhi. It was just a matter of lack of dedication. Carbon Top 3 all of 2008. At LEAST.

Summer 08
- June 1, 2008 - 4:27am

Summer is finally here. For those of you who have just graduated congratulations on completing High School. Now it’s time to actually get to work for those of you going on to Universities. So I been gaming, partying, chillin, reminiscing ect. I haven’t had much time to write a blog but my teammates who are now Wooly, Pyrocy, and Swisha all said they enjoyed reading them so this one is for High Life (our team name). This one will be a bit about everything. My sister’s graduation, Halo status, and the upcoming event in San Diego, oh and how can I forget the Los Angeles Lakers!!!

So last week my sister completed her sentence of 4 years in prison I mean High School. Going back to my old school gave me some Goosebumps. Just remembering all the crap and shenanigans I pulled or the girls I dated, and all the student activities I was involved in. HS truly was a blast and I wish I can go back, but without all the annoying people and the home work. But I must say College is the stuff. So anyways my sister completed the walk and now she goes on to become an artist or some sort of art ish. She plans on attending some institute of art. I have to say my sister has some legit work and I wish her the best. Sitting in the bleachers for two and half hours got a bit boring, but once it was over it was cool to see all the smiling faces, reminded me of my graduation tear… Also I got to see a lot of kids that I hadn’t seen since grad night so that was a bit interesting. Some have changed and others are still the same old Joe’s. Anyways here is a picture of me and my beautiful sister after her post ceremony.

SIS GRADS

So now for my Halo status. I have been on so many teams over the course of the last two seasons, it’s pretty annoying but I guess that’s the way it works. After meadows Lifted broke up. We all went our own directions. I looked for a team for few weeks after but no success. I was on the verge of creating a team with one of my long time pals Pistol who has always been sick ever since Halo1 so he knows his stuff. That was all until I received a text message from Swisha saying that he Pyrocy and wooly needed one to complete the team. So I obliged and said I would run games with them. It went well and I really liked everyone’s mindset and personality which is a huge factor in my opinion. No one wants to team with a dick that just complains and makes excuses all the time. It hurts the team and the chemistry that you’re trying to build. Immediately we started scrimming. Going over strats came later.

The team is pretty solid now and that’s all I am going to say. I don’t want to give anything away or over hype us. One thing that I have learned is coping with new teammates and learning exactly what they do. I have learned to like my teammates a lot. Wooly is really funny and is a skater kid bleh skate or die!!! Swisha is some dumb Texan from Dallas. But seriously he’s really smart. As for Pyrocy really sarcastic and lives in Nebraska where there is nothing to do but chill with cows. Also he has a strong passion for his farm animals. Check the link below, you will laugh I promise. Our team name is High Life. Hopefully I can release some game plays from my perspective so you can see how legit we are. Wish us luck in San Diego.

Photobucket

Pyrocy loves Animals.

So San Diego is two weeks away and I am so excited. I love California especially SD. I was fortunate enough to be born in Oakland California the 510 baby for 16.5 years, then forced to move to the sweet desert in Tucson Arizona. Anyways every time I go back I have the time of my life, and with an event in CA nothing can go wrong. I look to beast it up and show everyone what’s up. The rarity of a west coast event has led me to go on a summer road trip. The trip will consist of myself, Ghostayame, maybe Pistol if he mans up and a bunch of my friends from home who are MLG fans but mostly down to go to Cali for the beach. So I will have some support from my friends which should be sweet. The ride from Tucson to SD is only like 5 hours but with my driving skills I am going for 4 which will be impossible. I look forward to all the dime pieces at the beach, the fast traffic, the expensive gas, In N out from CA because it’s not the same in Arizona, and the shopping scene in Venice after the event. We plan on hitting up Rogue Status for some gear, so that should be tight. If you’re from Cali post up in this blog and give me a shout out nukkas.

Photobucket

Rogue Status at its finest.

Last but not least the Los Angles Lakers. BOO KOBE SUCKS!!!! But seriously, I love the Los Angeles Lakers. It all goes back to the beginning of time (when I was 7) my dad took me to this huge sport’s store and bought me a Magic Johnson jersey. Every time I played basketball I would wear that thing, I would feel like the man. Since then I always watched the Lakers play. Now being from the Bay once upon a time, and Arizona, you ask why am I not a Warriors fan or Phoenix fan??? Well when I lived in the Bay the Warriors sucked, and I never like the Sacramento Queens. As for Phoenix, there cool but I am not from Arizona, so I am not a true die hard fan like my friends. I am a Laker fan. So this year the Lakers are fortunate enough to have a solid squad and have a chance to take home the title since the trade of Shaq. First off we have the sickest player in the game Kobe Bryant. Then followed by the veteran Derek fisher, the two monsters Gasol and Odom, and I can’t forget the machine Radmanovic, oh and some dude with 11 wins as a coach Phil Jackson.

So as everyone knows they will be playing the eastern conference champions the Celtics. This is probably one of the most exciting NBA finals in recent memory, oh and you can’t forget the rivalry behind both teams. I am pretty excited to see the Lake-show back in grasps of a potential ring, especially for the mvp Kobe. All who doubted him are all on the Kobe fan wagon which is really funny but that’s how it always is. So expect me to be Lakered out on Thursday as they take on the Celtics in the Garden. My prediction for this series is Lakers in 6. The Lakers lose the first 2 away and win the remaining 4. I cannot wait to see Garnett who is absolutely insane and a true competitor who gives 100% in every game he plays, vs the best basketball player of our time Kobe Bryant. LET’S GO LAKERS!!!

As always good luck to everyone attending San Diego and I look forward to talking to a lot of new people and meeting some new faces. Be easy.

Meadowlands 08 Aftermath
- May 1, 2008 - 6:43am

It’s been 3 weeks since meadows and a lot has happened since then. First then I would like to thank MLG and all of those who support MLG for putting on a great opener for the begging of Halo3. It seemed to me like half of the kids at the event were new to mlg which is a great indicator on how far the league has come. The event started off a little rocky thanks to American Airlines (who else got owned?) missing my connecting flight from Houston to New Jersey and having to fly to JFK, and then spending 120 bucks on a cab to get my luggage from Newark. So things went looking too good. The opening day I proceeded to get myself almost banned from the venue after a debacle with the owner of the building which I had no idea. Luckily I can thanks Catherine who works for MLG, who is a sweetheart to get me back in. So the am started and it was no easy task 250 teams yelling at the top of their lunges with no remorse. The hardest part was hearing your teammates and the TVs which are impossible to hear. So good luck hearing the guy lift over, or should I say good luck to myself since I’m not even pro. So our team seemed to be looking good and no bumps in the road, but my biggest problem seemed to be getting used to the TV’s. I changed my sensitivity from 3-4 all weekend. Guess I need to get one of those Viewsonics.

Things hit the fan Saturday losing to an underestimated NLR. As a team favored to take top 8 this wasn’t a good sign losing early. We were able to keep our selves cool and make it out of am with no problem. We had made pro bracket so we were set to dong on some kids. Our first match up came against Inferno on the main stage; it went well and ended in us winning 3-1. We were super pumped after taking them down since they were seeded higher than us. So our next match was against Fatal Images. The series was a bit of a blur for me; all I remember was getting double teamed everywhere I went. I became a victim of halo3 and not budding up with someone. Fatal Images had some dirty team work and we were never able to keep our composure when it mattered the most, the series was 3-1. After that series we all had wtf faces on and didn’t play the same the rest of the event which ended up bad. We lost to Rainbow Riders 3-0 and were out of the pro bracket. We had all let ourselves down and it was pretty disappointing for ourselves and for others seeing as we had such high expectations as a team, but it happens life moves on.

I stayed up all Saturday night and played on one hour of sleep Sunday and still manage to play solid. I had the pleasure of meeting a lot of new people which was great because I met people that I knew who they were from last season but never talked to for example: Hokum and Soviet. One of the funnier characters was Demon D, the kid is what 15 and doesn’t let anyone talk down to him. Also I got to meet a lot of my fans from MySpace and that was really cool. Meadowlands seemed to have come too fast for a lot of potential top 8 teams such as ours, LeGendz, Type Z, Influence which were on average predicted to be top 8. I blame the TV’s and also not being used to lan, I saw a whole lot of missing melees from a lot of people, and a lot of out shooting that was caused by lan over live situations. I also think that a lot of teams afterwards freaked out after one event and disbanded in a heartbeat, leading to immatureness and loss of friendships which could of easily been ironed out with more practice or loss of a player or easy trades instead of making a bigger deal than it really was.

Lastly the first event has come and gone and I look forward to San Diego which is one of my favorite cities being Cali bread and all. I believe there will be more upsets to come. Also the strongest teams I saw at the event were, Final Boss still ballers I couldn’t believe people doubted them congrats on the first event win, Team Classic, Instinct, and Triggers Down who I thought was going to finish top 2 but two tough 3-2 series losses ended their run settling for 4th. I was really surprised in str8’s placing but after reading t2’s blog it seemed like the team just had stage fright, I see them placing top 3 next event. More blogs to come.

Here is a last look at The Lifted, also good luck to Soviet, Hokum, and Fox, sucks we couldn’t give it another chance I think we could have been a powerhouse. All a great bunch of guys and solid halo3 players that shouldn’t be underestimated and if you do don’t say I didn’t warn you.

you guys were my favorite team going into the event, and im sorry that things weren't working out for you. I watched your consolation game (i forget what team it was that you were playing against) and i thought that you guys looked pretty solid. Your the man Carlos, one of the best slayers in the game, you'll get a team together no problem. Good luck mah man.
