Say ByeBye to SmiSmi

Update: Not quite sure how to say this, but I have quit MLG and gaming. It was a really fun experience and I feel so blessed for all the opportunities I have had. Sooner or later it had to come to an end though. MLG helped me bring out a side I never thought I had. I never thought I could be so competitive and be the best at something. I will miss everyone A LOT and I will keep all these memories close to my heart. Maybe I will stop by another tournament to check things out :)
Much LOVE, Felicia aka SMILEY<3

Smiley - Halo - MLG Meadowlands
- April 16, 2008 - 6:37pm
Well I just got home from MLG Meadowlands! The entire trip was a lot of fun and it was so great seeing everyone after so many months. I got to the tournament Friday morning after an overnight flight with my friend Allie. After crashing for a few hours, I made my way down to the venue and it was so exciting to see the massive crowd lined up outside the building. This is usually my favorite part of the MLG because you get to find all your friends, but this being the first time since the offseason made it all the more exciting! I was really curious to see how the venue would look since MLG had new sponsors such as Dr. Pepper. There was a really sweet Dr. Pepper lounge where they gave away free drinks, and there were also huge pictures on the walls of MLG Pros.
What is really exciting about this season is the fact that it is a brand new game, so Pro status is up for grabs for virtually any team that willing to work hard enough for it. I was really impressed by a lot of teams who were coming out of nowhere and making names for themselves. Saturday morning I was especially drawn to the game of Str8 against a team called Rainbow Riders. To my surprise, almost every game was neck and neck. A lot of new teams are looking really strong and don’t seem intimidated at all by the old Pro teams. Everyone seems a little nervous about the new intense competition this season. I can only imagine what is going to happen in San Diego and in general with Halo3.
The entire tournament itself though was really fun, other than me being sick on Saturday. It was so good to see everyone after so many months, like a big family reunion! I was so lucky to randomly end up having the same flights with both Allie and Rob Simpson. The plane ride home was absolutely hilarious. It started out with them playing the movie PS I love you, where Allie and I cried like babies for the entire movie. Afterwards, Rob Allie and I got into a super serious Go Fish game. We ended the plane ride by falling asleep on each other for the last 2 hours. Overall this tournament was definitely a good one and I can’t wait to see what happens in San Diego. I am really excited there is a California tournament :D We are definitely taking a road trip there and I’m pretty sure we are going to have people fly out early and lan. See you all there!!

MLG Dallas
- July 25, 2007 - 1:09am

We played 13 hours on Saturday and had to play our final match on Mainstage to make it into Pro Bracket. We walked onto mainstage and the bleachers instantly started filling up. There were cameras, lights, everything to make this moment the most nervous/exciting feeling I have ever felt my entire life. We sat down, got ready, and we were all at the top of our game and ready to go! The crazy thing I realized is that when the game started I instantly zoned into the game. Not once did I think about the people watching the screen behind me, the pictures or the videos being taken. We were all just completely focused. The first game was Warlock TS, and we started down 14-3 I believe? Bonnie was never fazed though because she went on a killing spree and we all started playing smarter and not letting them get a lead on us anymore. We started beating them and kept a steady lead throughout the entire game thanks to Bonnie’s killing spree and Jeff and Ben going clutch! I don’t remember the ending score, sorry! I was very surprised though when I looked at the stats and saw that I had gone 18 and 8 :] The second game was Midship flag, and it was pretty close, but we lost by 1 flag cap in overtime even though Jeff went huge with 38 and 28. HAHA I have to add in that right after that game ended and we lost I had thought we lost the entire series (too zoned in maybe?) and I was all sad and was like “Nooo! We were so close! Oh my god….” and Jeff just looked at me and laughed, reminding me that we had won the first game. I pretty much felt like an idiot, but we all found it hilarious and I think it lightened up our mood going into the 3rd game. (I wonder If you could hear that on VOD?) Anyways, we were all completely ready going into Lockout TS, the game that would decide whether we would make Pro Bracket or not. I was surprised and so proud of how organized my team was as we instantly controlled BR tower and consistently had sniper the entire game. (Props to Photon for the amazing coach timing!) Ben was going nuts with the sniper. We held a constant lead and held strong with amazing teamwork as MDG was forced to start rushing over in attempt to break our setup. Bonnie was clutch with the last kill and we instantly jumped up and started hugging each other, the crowd was going nuts, MLG staff looked very happy, and cameras were going off. It’s a moment I will remember very well for the rest of my life, because I have never felt so happy and proud of my team.

I was even getting txt messages from people watching live on VOD. Before I forget, I had NO IDEA our voices were also being recorded during the series!! You will probably be hearing me say “come on!” and “lets go!” a lot. Its pretty much my thing to motivate the team as much as possible during games. After a minute we were escorted into the upper level of the Pro Lounge for some awesome interviews with the MLG Staff.

We are all very pleased with our performances and I love the people that cheered us on and supported us throughout the entire tournament, watching on VOD and in person. I love how everything turned out and I couldn’t ask for anything more. This weekend has been my dream since I ever started playing Halo. Just knowing it’s a reality now is beyond belief. I know I have talked about this possibly being my last season, but I just want to put it out there that there is no way I could ever possibly stop now. YES that means you will be seeing me for many seasons to come! Bonnie and myself are also really happy that we were able to give girl gaming a huge step in the MLG community. So many girls out there have so much potential and I know you girls can do it too. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but its so worth it in the end. I can only hope this inspires more girls to take gaming seriously, because we can keep up with the guys too!

We are definitely excited for CHICAGO! Now that we know what we need to work on, we will be practicing a lot more, and actually practicing the pro gametypes also. Photon and myself are flying out a week early to hang out, go to six flags and of course lan with Jeff and Ben before the tournament. Were hoping Bonnie is able to fly out early too! Im also definitely excited to get some amazing Chicago pizza I heard so much about!! We will see you guys there!!!<3
P.S. look how badly my leg got destroyed by me backing up into a light :(

P.P.S. on Monday our flight was delayed around 3 hours, and we flew home through a lightning storm… which was surprisingly SO fun
P.P.P.S. I want to thank again the people who have supported us throughout all of this. Our dreams are coming true and history is being made, and it wouldn’t be the same without you guys<3
