Letdowns, frustration, and slumps
- July 14, 2009 - 7:09am

Well Its been a few weeks since str8 camp and I learned so much its hard to play with so much information going around in your head so all of this has resulted in me fallin into a huge slump. So I got back from str8 camp and took kyles advice and bought some summer lan entry tickets, turns out im not lucky and dont win plus i wouldnt have even needed air fare because totz lives a few hours away from me but sadly i havent gotten a chance to meet totz but i plan on meeting a lot of the top players and making friends with all of them for lans and such. So all in all unlucky as for my gameplay heres a few things that you should think about im posting this so you can be aware of these things and dont need to struggle to find them like i did. 1) LISTEN when i have all this new material it will often overshadow my abillity to listen and clean up easy kills and get power weapons so lately i have my voice playing much more loudly and it helps try it out . 2) Dont try to do too much with a steady BR shot. I was flippin my sensitivity around and getting pissed everytime i missed a fourshot or didnt out BR an opponent. So i watched 6 hours of c-bus VoD and ultimately realized most BR kills come from call outs and teamwork not out BRs so lately i just listen and help out with my BR as opposed to trying to slay very aggresively with it you need to worry more about weapons and control and dont force yourself into unecesary battles that arent for positon on the map or a powerweapon/powerup. 3) Play more passive with powerweapons. Even if you arent the one who normally gets sniper don't be afraid to use it, so what if someone on your team has a sick shot theres no sense in risking it being stolen by the other team due to you lacking confidence. So basically if you have a sniper your presence on the map can be just as important as a few headshots or if you have rockets dont rush the kills as long as you have them the other team wont be able to make an overly aggressive push. Im not saying pass up adequet shots by all means take them just dont feel rushed its always important to control weapons so when searching randoms and a kid is yelling at you for missing difficult snipes on narrows simply ignore him because he is saying it out of frustration. 4) When i listen attentively and control weapons and useful locations on the map i find it can boost confidence so being smart can up your confidence and i find a confident shot to be a quick and accurate shot. So when getting a death use it as a i have to be even smarter next time as apposed to getting frusturated and rushing and immediately getting a death then blame your shot and mess with your sense or switch viberation on or off. Most of the time its just about taking a deep breathe and staying positive. 5) Try things I actually removed the vibrators from my wired controllers and inserted my old sticks and my shot improved. Removing the vibrators made the controller half as light and easier to hold steady and still and i was soooo comfy with my old sticks. So my controller is sick 6) Dont complain if i start to cry about connection i make stupid routes and lose confidence and i dont listen so just dont do it trust me. So all in all i apologize for all the people that suffered from having me on there team and had to put up with me when i didnt understand the game inside and out especially Kyle so when you get back from totz lan im gonna impress. Finally when im not out and about or gamin or watchin VoD ive found some nice ways to take your mind off halo. ping pong, bowling, soccer, etc ive just been doing those kinda things to get out of my habit of frustration My new tag is Professor Oakley if any1 wants to game play octy or something hit me up P.S. im still a F/A pick me up plzzzz Str8 to win Dallas :)

Str8 Camp
- June 25, 2009 - 10:17pm

I attended the second str8 camp (june 19-21), on xbox live some of my friends knew i was attending and most of them thought i was wasting my money but due to not attending columbus i could afford it and still attend dallas so let me say it was not a waste at all. Some "pro payers" were telling me how many pros i could get to know for $1200 plus about $200 airfare. My thoughts on that are if i simply pay some one 50$ to add me they dont want to play with me and im not really friends with them, through going to str8 camp not only did i drasticly improve multiple aspects of my game i also developed friendships with not only the other campers but with tom kyle eric bryan zach jason and of course bullzeye the epimp. The next thing that is commonly brought up is people question my skill and knowledge of the game because i payed to go to camp. I think everyone could learn something from the #1 halo team in the world. Another reason i did it is i put a lot of time into halo and i really enjoy it and i dont want my time to be null and void in the near future so im doing everything i can to do something with mlg as a career whether it be as a player or something else. Next the way i view the price is the reason its so high is not because the camp is exclusive but because only a dedicated player would pay that much money to learn to play halo at the highest level. Finally Dallas predictions heres my top 8 for dallas 1. Str8 Rippin 2. Triggers Down 3. Ambush 4. Final Boss 5. Classic 6. Carbon 7. Instinct 8. Believe the Hype Call me crazy for those but realisticly heres my reasons Str8 will win because after learning about how they play and staying at the Str8nctuary i can see them dropping another event meadows war a fluke Triggers has had a consistent roster for a while and are a solid contender Ambush are so underrated and have a sick coach :) but im pullin for them FB is a highly talented team just in my opinion underpracticed and will place 4th Classic has really good chemistry with their new roster and can place a solid 5th Carbon needed a strong leader who can play obj and walshy brings just that plus strongside and defy if shockwave comes to play and they develop chemistry they will work their way up Instinct Ghost is very talented but i cant see chemistry happening out side of lunch and roy so i think changes must be made before they contend for a championship again BtH they are good dont get me wrong but i cant see them contending with other top teams Finally i am a F/A and need a dallas team im going and looking to make it out of AM
