I'll cut to the chase. I have been looking for a serious MLG team for over a year, and have been unsuccessful. I have tried out for/ have been on dozens of teams, but they've all fallen apart due to lack of effort, interest, or belief in themselves/ each other. I even spent an entire month doing my own tryouts, running games and watching videos of over 50 players, while taking notes on each of their playstyles. But the team that came from this rigorous process fell apart the same way.
Everyone that knows me, can vouch that I am a strong player, and serious gamer with a mature, likeable personality. I play my heart out every game, analyze my/Pro VoD, and have traversed the recruitment section of the forums to the extent where everybody knows me. But still no luck.
This is not a rant, or a thread about me asking for assistance on finding the right team/teammates. I am asking the MLG community for help on what am I doing wrong/ what can I do to become a successful player, because I have exhausted every resource I have and continue to fall short. I have unmatched commitment and drive out of anyone that I've ever known. I didn't give up when losing weight; and I have that same calibur of passion for gaming.
I have grown into a leader over this time, calling teammates to get on, coming up with strats and ways we can improve, modifying maps myself for BR arena style matches, leading/ directing the team mid-game, encouraging everyone, etc. I put a lot of effort towards every team that I am on, but never find teammates that will do the same.
Am I not meant to be a professional gamer? Should I just give up? Or is this just a long streak of bad luck; will there be a light at the end of the tunnel? I am 20, and desire to game professionally within the next 4-5 years. On a side note, I have lost my 48 in MLG to quitters, cheaters, and selfish teammates.
My mythic disc somehow got scratched and doesn't work, so I cannot play matchmaking. I don't want to shell out another 50 bucks for the same halo game. I have even bought a disc cleaning kit, and predictably, did not work either.
Although I went off on somewhat of a tangent, the point remains. This past year has not gone my way, despite my hard work and patience. Has what I've been doing up until this point insufficient? I need more direction on my next course of actions, words of wisdom, or just general advice. Anything helpful, please post it. Thanks in advance for everyone's help <3
