how you guys doing?

Gandhi gets Dropped- Sorry this is late
but its the right time to post it
- February 21, 2009 - 9:37am

Hey everyone, I hope everyone has had a terrific off season! I know I’ve enjoyed the off season, but I personally can’t wait for meadowlands to come! I think it’s going to be some of the best competition the MLG community has ever seen but I’m not hear to talk about the upcoming event everyone knows it’s going to ROCK, but I am here to tell you guys about my 2008 season

Gandhi Gets Dropped

MLG kicked off the 2008 season at the Meadowlands. For the first time in my entire career I wasn’t completely thrilled/nervous to be attending the event. As soon as I arrived at JFK airport I began to text my friends to see what they were up to that night, and I was basically home sick. Being my senior year in high school I wanted to spend as much time with my friends as possible, and gaming was standing in the way of that. This instantly stuck in my head and I just couldn’t help but think to myself “Man I really want to this event to be over so I can get home to be with all my friends.” I tried to not express my feelings to my teammates Ghostayame, Shockwave, or Karma but I’m fairly positive they could tell I didn’t want to be there. Regardless of how I felt I knew I was here to compete against the best gamers in the world and I would have to bring my A game, which at the time was equivalent to my D game. Saturday night of the event ended and we just beat str8 rippin. I couldn’t help but think to myself I don’t even have to play to beat the top teams anymore, and I would keep this mentality for most of the season. Although we beat str8 we ended up losing out and facing str8 in the consolation for 5th and they beat us, leaving us at 6th place (our worst performance ever). The lose didn’t phase me surprisingly.

San Diego came and I couldn’t have made myself more unavailable to my teammates. In between Meadowlands and San Diego I played about 400 games total 50 of those games being scrims with my team. Now 50 games with my team sounds like a decent bit but there was a large amount of hostility amongst us, mainly between Shockwave and I. We would fight over certain issues for the wrong reasons. When we would discuss strategies I would expect everyone to follow them and attempt to enforce them as well as I could. Although Shockwave respected my view he couldn’t take me telling him that what he did was wrong, mainly because when ghost, karma, and him would be on playing I would be out with my friends. But some how we were able to pull it together and get a 4th place finish. After the event I got my bags packed relatively quickly said good bye to everyone and went to catch my plane to my Myrtle Beach.

As I arrived at Myrtle beach I was rushed to where me and all my friends were staying and instantly began having the time of my life. Pretty much the day after I arrived I received a phone call from shockwave. Wave basically said that it would be in the best interest for the team if I was kicked off for the reasons I stated above and others. But wave left it up to karma to decide whether or not I should remain on the team. It took me a second to really digest what had been said to me, one of my best friends (best friend through gaming) told me he wanted me off his team. After I fully understood everything that had been said to me, I punched the door and walked out of the beach house. I felt betrayed and out of anger I basically threw away a friendship. Sure enough the next day I got a call from karma and he told me he was sorry but he’s got to kick me off the team. I said I understood but in reality I would hold the biggest grudge against each and every one of them.

My feelings towards each of them would change however. I would be able to talk to Karma the exact same way as I had always been able to. Ghost however I could no longer see as a friend, but only as a competitor. I had to give him respect for his talent at the game, he was absolutely ridiculous and everyone would soon find out at Vegas 2008 just how good he really Is.

Shockwave is a completely different story then both of these two. Chris was the first real friend I made through video games,, and we would later become extremely good friends. Regardless of what tiny arguments we would get into over strategies or a play one of us made, we always were able to over look it. But when Chris told me that it would benefit the team if I was kicked off, I lost every ounce of respect I had for him. I won’t get into details but basically I smashed our friendship into pieces that night. This didn’t really phase me until Vegas 2008 came around. Watching Chris be called out to the main stage brought so many memories back, and I wanted to congratulate him for doing so well but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I immediately remembered that I ruined our friendship. Ever since I’ve tried to bring myself to talk to chris but I just can never do it.

What had happened was for the best. I’ve learned a lot from this situation, and I can honestly say I hold nothing against any of them anymore. Karma, Ghost, Shockwave nothing can replace the memories I had with you guys, and I hope the best for you.

Forgiveness is and always will be an option. Unfortunately you wanted something else besides gaming on your senior year but sometimes life isn't fair and you need to make decisions. Though decisions are made, do not throw away a friendship that someday meant something to you. If you want to be a good friend go back to them and be a friend not a stranger. Goodluck in 09 w/e you decide to do.

Wisdom Teeth out!!!!
- January 10, 2009 - 1:21am

Hey everyone, Well for about a year or so i have been putting off getting my wisdom teeth removed because i really didn't feel like getting them yanked out just yet. After many hours of debating with my dentist two weeks ago i finally caved in and decided to set up an appointment on January 9th aka TODAY. It wasn't nearly as bad as i made it out to be mainly because of the nitrous they gave me. So for everyone who encounters playing with or againest me the next couple of days i will be on PRESCRIPTION vicodin, dont think i'm losing my touch ;).

- May 31, 2008 - 1:05pm

Hey everyone, how are you all doing. So I come to you all today to let everyone know just how awesome astro headphones are. If you have a lot of distractions around where you play halo or 'work' then there is nothing else better then astros. Astros completely cancel out all noise around you which ensures lonh hours of gaming. See you all in san diego, Later Gandhi

Split Screen battles
- May 23, 2008 - 10:24pm

Hey everyone, how's it going? So I decided to drive down to bens house to try and play as much as possible so we deicided to do a little split screen series. I won the first two games 25 21 and 25 24. Ben being the guy he is decided to quit for the night and continue today. I lost the first game by a score I won't speak of but then ended the series on a 25 19 win.

Music while gaming
- May 13, 2008 - 3:10pm

If you play music online make sure its not to loud coz people will just mute ur ass. And you wont be able to communicate with any one with your awesome astro headphone. I have one its good, but it cost a bit to import into Australia. and if you play music at tournies make sure your team likes it and the other team hates it. and make sure Ogre 2 dreads it.

I play on 2 years ago's model samsung (Samsung LN-S2338W 23-Inch) and I love the thing. My two buddies play on the 19 inch and its awesome as well. I have another friend who went out and got last years 19 inch, and I hate it because for whatever reason it lags like CRAZY. Im not sure why a newer model than mine would lag. And I would know because I test every new LCD TV that comes out. They just came out with a new model Samsung which is killer, along with the MLG Viewsonics, but the Samsungs have way better colors.

The Story of Stride gum
- May 11, 2008 - 8:15pm

Since stride was generous enough to give us a gift pack of all of their great gum, I had enough gum to last me a year or atleast I thought it woulf. My friends caught word of my vast amounts of gum and bull rushed my house. I now have about sixteen packs leFt and they're going by fast. So moral of this story is if you buy six packs of stride gum tell NO ONE. It'll all be gone before you know it.

Prom 08

Hey everyone its been awhile I've been extremely busy with exams and senior graduation stuff, so I have aloy of catching up to do. On april 26 I ended my senior prom with my girlfriend and had the time of my life. We started off by taking pictures at my girlfriends house, with the whole prom groupm. No matter how much fun I was having I couldn't help but think this is my last year of high school and will be parting ways with most of my friends. Although this hit me it didn't stop me from busting some moves in the dance floor you know.

All That Remains Concert!
- March 9, 2008 - 4:34am

This past Thursday I was given the opportunity by MLG to see All That Remains perform LIVE, at the 930 club in Washington DC. Being a big fan of this band I took the opportunity that MLG presented me with. I brought my two good friends with me, who couldn’t believe the fact that I got the tickets for free, and VIP passes. We got to the club around 7:05pm and were excited beyond belief. As we walked into the club with our All That Remains VIP passes around our necks, we couldn’t grasp the fact that we were given the chance to see this band perform. Within minutes the first band Light This City started to warm up. I’ve never personally heard of this band but the lead singer was a girl, and was pretty good looking ;). Watching from the top balcony we saw the mosh pit form and my friends wanted to mosh. So we walk down onto the floor and we throw my friend Noah into the mosh and within seconds he has on the ground. Seeing this we decided to jump in and had a blast. After Light this City performed, Phil the lead singer from All That Remains called me up and told me to come out to his tour bus. Excited as I’ve ever been I walked onto his tour bus with the biggest grin on my face. He introduces himself to me and instantly challenges me to some games of halo. To my surprise he wasn’t as bad as I thought he would be, He actually strafed and knew what he was doing. The first game I wasn’t use to a 36 inch TV practically on the ceiling and he got two kills. I know I know I shouldn’t have let him get that, so the following games he didn’t get a kill. After hanging out with him on the bus and beating him in halo ;), it was time for him to start warming up for the show. We walked off the tour bus and into the club. The Band Chimaira was on their last song, and the crowd was going insane. As they finished their last song the lead singer from Light This City came out and got the crowd fired up for All That Remains. As Phil walked onto the stage the crowd irrupted and they started instantly. I had promised Phil that I would be in the mosh throughout all the songs and I kept my word. After about three songs, he stopped to talk to the crowd, he pointed out two people making out on the balcony and goes “This next song goes out to Gandhi and Team Carbon!” Right as he said that the spot light shined into the area where everyone was moshing and Luke, Noah and myself are standing in the middle and just start jumping up and down with excitement. After they finished the show we had to leave to catch the metro since he closed at twelve and it was already 11:10. As we were leaving I thanked Phil for everything and couldn’t believe the gift that MLG got me. I appreciate Major League Gaming for this awesome opportunity and check out All That Remains on myspace.! Later guys! Gandhi

That is a sick story! I felt like I had to comment because the 9:30 is my home club 'cuz I'm from DC and it is definitely one of the nicest venues I've ever been to. I'm also gonna take this chance to brag that I'm gonna be taking 2 weeks off of my senior year in May to intern with them for our work program WHOOO. :) I am legitimately jealous that you got VIP passes from MLG to the concert there. That's a great experience that not a lot of other people are gonna be able to have and I'd love to be in your position. That's pretty sweet how the singer called you guys out too. Good luck in '08, I've always enjoyed watching you play because you play so differently than me (I'm a sneaky / defensive player) but always seem to come out on top with kills and I like seeing people come out and do things that I never would. Have a good next season.

The balance between school and Halo.
- March 4, 2008 - 6:41pm

After many years of playing halo and going to school i have recently encountered a problem. This is my senior year of high school and i am enjoying every second of it. The problem i am having now though is that i am so caught up on hanging out with my friends who i will not be seeing much after this year since we are all going to different colleges for the most part, that i am not playing halo and practicing as much as possible. I am hanging out with my friends and of course chasing after girls. But since i am a professional gamer i need to be playing much more then hanging out with my friends, esspecially with the 2008 season approaching. It is extremely hard to balance the two and i was just curious if anyone else out there was having this problem or already has gone through it. Later Gandhi.

I graduated in 2006, and I regret not doing some things, like going to the final assembly, the memorial "slide-show" video thing, and stuff like that. Gandhi my advice seriously would be to enjoy this and ride it out the best you can. I mean Meadowlands is the only event that is going to happen between now and the time you graduate (If you are on our same schedule) and its not an extremely important event, not like National championships or something. Enjoy the last bit of time you got left these guys, you've probably been going to school with some of them since kindergarten and if you don't I bet you'll regret it. Carbon is looking great still and you guys seem to be on a path for a top finish in meadowlands. But honestly Scott, coming from someone whos been there and done that (except with the conflicting pro gaming career) ENJOY the last few months. Hope it helps O.o

I'm in the same position haha. I'm currently in soccer, Junior year of highschool, and i have a gf of 9 months. I know how hard it is, but not the part of being a pro gamer haha. I've been having a lot of trouble getting on and playing, but the think I thought out was, hang out with friends all week during the week, then maybe the friday night too, but on the weekends just practice as much as you can. It may not be everyday but like practicing for a long time on the weekend can't go wrong, because nothing else will bother you..I dont know if you'll read this, but hopefully it helps just a lil bit. If you want to talk about it just pm me or something..

Ya i have, I mean i have lost alot of friends for MLG but at the same time, MLG has helped me figure out who my true friends are, the ones who hang out with me and like me for me. And ever since MLG i have been doing half fast work on school just to get by, Im in College now graduated 07 where fast doings dont get the job done, but I wouldnt change any bit of it. I just have to work harder for school with the free time that is given to me

Im with ya, track, ap classes, varsity track, new friends, tutoring family biz, all that shiz. Oh and I'm tryna to prepare for mlg san diego (in my city). And Iv'e picked up my 1st Halo copy late Oct. Gaming is also one of my interest, and like all things, I like to beat the competition. MLG smash and Halo are my venues, hopefully I can make a name for myself in the future. Best of luck to you Ghandi.

Canadian Expierence
- November 8, 2007 - 4:17am

Well this past weekend I got the chance to attend MLG Canada. This being the first time I have ever left the country I was really excited to go to this event. The Canadian League of MLG is absolutely amazing. The venue had countless things you could do, anything going from Guitar Hero 3 to getting an autograph from Chris Bosh(Toronto Raptors Center). To my surprise the competition of the Canadians was actually really good. Mad Maxx especially surprised me the most. When I came to the venue Friday night I caught the last round of the Free For All. In that Free For All Mad Maxx was absolutely just ripping through people, and all I could think about was too bad he didn’t attend to many MLG events during regular season. I hope that there are more Canada tournaments because I will be more then happy to attend them all. Thanks MLG for giving me the opportunity to go to Canada, and see you all next Season. Gandhi

MLG Charlotte
- April 27, 2007 - 1:34am

Well i've finally came to grips about the MLG Charlotte Event. I have been in kind of disbelief since the event. Major League Gamings opener was more of an eye opener then anything else to say the least. So many upsets, and so many new great players on the pro circuit. MLG Charlotte was our teams worst performance yet. Incase you did not know we kind of slacked off in the off season thinking we were the kings of the world since we won the National Championship. Obviously that was not the case and it cost us drastically. On saturday we not only lost to FBI Agency, we got 3-0'ed and i haven't felt the feeling of getting 3-0'ed since 2005 opener vs Str8 Rippin. The feeling of being ontop to getting put out 3rd round winners was just awful. Luckily for us we picked up our game on Sunday, and started playing how we should. Although we still did not play like ourselves we still played alot better compared to saturday. After 5 rounds of the Losers bracket we met up with FBI Agency Again. FBI Agency came out winning guns blazing. Finally we started to pick our game up when the series was 5-1. I looked over at Shock and i told him, we're not losing this event we have 5 games to go. Sure enough the next 5 Games we won, which included an awesome TS Midship Game.
