Shoot to Kill emerged from an early scare in Winners Bracket Round 1 of Chicago’s Shadowrun competition. Their match against first-round opposition, Greater Than, opened to a series of early standoffs on Attrition on Nerve Center Small. Greater Than used superior swarm tactics in the early round, pushing all of their forces down the elevator hallway, taking out StK’s players in a frantic melee. Despite the progression in magic and technology, the first three rounds of play panned out similarly, as Greater Than earned a 3 – 0 lead. A couple of traded rounds left the score at 4 – 1 in Greater Than’s favor.

Their creativity came into play in the eighth round. Ogre 2 served as the catalyst for the team’s attack, teleporting to the back ledge of the crane and picking off players shooting from back elevator banks. From there, oNeEye, Walshy and eXt swarmed to finish off the round. Walshy’s strangle tactics made quick work of the opponent’s troll and eXt fueled the team with loads of kill support. His final scoreline read 15 kills, 9 deaths, and 13 assists, as StK rallied to take the map 6 – 4. |
