Oddball Map Control/Strategies

![]() Map control revolves around the ball. A team should have the versatility to hold the ball in several positions on the map. Relying on one location is a recipe for failure, as the opportunity to set-up in a favorite position may not present itself during a match. Oddball games get messy and the best teams will keep the time going up even if they never maintain a truly dominant setup. The more places a team feels comfortable holding the ball, even if its only for 15 seconds, the better chance they have of winning.
Remember, map strategies must revolve around the ball carrier.
Map strategies in Oddball must be more fluid than in any other game type, because the ball carrier dictates the pace and location of the action. If a running ball carrier seems to earn the most time, try to develop a fluid strategy that allows for movement. Maybe the strategy will involve timely deaths that won’t give up control. Find out what works for your team and capitalize on your strengths. The more you practice, the easier it will become. |
