Objective

![]() It’s a rough job, but someone has to do it. The thankless position of any Halo team is just as difficult than any other. While we remind you that a good teammate can assume any position, the objective player’s role is straightforward: you put yourself in a position to rack up objective time or grab that flag. Here are some traits that indicate a strong objective player: Likes to Get Dirty-- If you find yourself in the middle of the pack a lot, you’re a strong candidate for an objective player. They need to be conscious of the objective at all times and grab it at the perfect moment. Like to be in the middle of the action and don't care about seeing big stats after the game? Try out running the objective for your team. Melee Master-- The objective guy has to have his wits about him in close battles. While meleeing is an essential part of any Halo player’s repertoire, it’s particularly important for someone handling the bulk of objective work. You’ll also find yourself wielding close-range weapons regularly, such as the mauler or shotgun. Cares About the 'W'-- Everyone wants to win, but an objective player may typically find himself with fewer kills and more deaths. This isn't a problem if the team comes up with the win. Fluid Movement-- To be a truly great objective player, you need to be able to move around the map with relative ease. Knowledge of the tactical jumps on every map will only increase your ability as an objective player. It is important to possess these skills in order to evade the enemy while holding onto the objective or to quickly reach the objective. Every team naturally works out their roles, but if you find yourself fitting some or all of these descriptions, solidifying your position on the team can add a new level of organization and help to work on strategies. It's important to note though, that roles are only labels. Just because you are designated as the "objective player", don't feel as if it gives you an excuse to ignore easy kills. The same goes for the "main slayer". If all four are down and the ball is laying nearby, go ahead and grab it. Every second helps towards the victory. |
