Banking & Bouncing Grenades

![]() Walls are your friends. One of the best ways to take out an enemy beyond sight and reach is to bank a grenade off a wall, ceiling or object. There are all sorts of angles that give grenades access to places that can keep the enemy at bay or even kill them. One of the best ways to practice this is simply by playing the game; you see an enemy in a weird spot, you see a slanted wall that you think can bounce a grenade to him and you give it a try. Of course the other way to practice is by experimentation. Go into custom games of all MLG maps and just toss grenades around. See what types of throws you can make happen and practice them at game speed.
If there’s a wall, a nade can bank off of it. Practice nade banks from key location to help secure power weapons and keep the enemy at bay.
Another excellent strategy that players have put to use since the early days of Halo 1 is throwing grenades off walls or even the floor as you run away from the enemy. If you’re about to go through a portal and an enemy follows close behind, toss a grenade straight at the portal, it will bounce off the wall and land right in front of the portal, with you safely through to the other side. If the enemy chooses to come through, they’ll already be injured. Likewise, tossing a sticky grenade on the ground can keep the opponent back far enough to give you an escape or possibly a kill. There are all sorts of ways to toss grenades at short distances to give you an advantage. If you’re down a shot or two but the enemy is around a corner, toss grenades in the doorway or off walls so they have no choice but to damage themselves if they come through. |
