 One of the controllers first used for Smash during the demo at E for All in 2007 and later for GameStop’s Midnight Launch tournament, this controller option offers much of the same redundancy of the GCN controller. The distance between the jump buttons and right analog stick is considerably less than the GCN controller, so this fact may make performing air attacks easier. Unlike the GCN controller, the Classic controller’s trigger buttons are easy to use for shielding and the controller offers one more facet of redundancy with Z-buttons located on the top left and right for grabbing. The Classic controller also offers its right analog stick for easy Smash attacks, the equivalent to the C-Stick on the GCN controller. Like the GCN controller, mapping the B-button to the right analog stick will cause new properties for some attacks in the game, so test this out with different characters to find out if this method and these new properties suit you. Much of the information in the GCN Controller article is also applicable to the Classic Controller. Note 1: All the articles in this section assume default configurations unless otherwise noted. Note 2: If you attend tournaments, check in advance to make sure wireless controllers are not banned. If they aren’t, make sure to have a fresh set of AA batteries in your controller for the start of the tournament and know how to sync your controller quickly. It may also be wise to carry an extra set of batteries for multiple day events. |
