Using Diddy's Peanut Gun

![]() Diddy Kong’s less effective projectile attack is the peanut gun. The peanut gun is Diddy’s neutral B attack that can be charged by holding down the B button. With no charge, a peanut will do about 7% damage; with a full charge it will do about 15% damage. Diddy can actually catch his own peanuts. The easiest way to do so, is to short hop and then fire the peanut gun just before landing. After landing, dash towards the peanut that is traveling through the air and dash attack catch it by pressing A. It is also possible to dash attack catch a peanut from a standing firing position, but the timing is significantly more difficult. Holding a peanut is similar to holding a banana. The peanut will do slightly less than double the damage of a banana and will travel much faster than both a thrown banana and an uncharged peanut shot. Using a thrown peanut followed by a barrage of bananas can be very effective for approaching. Like many B-button moves, the peanut gun can reverse the direction Diddy Kong is facing while in the air. To perform this action, gently press the reverse direction that Diddy is facing on the control stick just before pressing B. The peanut gun is not the best projectile for actually fighting or spamming against an opponent, but there are some things peanuts add to Diddy’s game. -After firing a peanut, try approaching the enemy with a dash attack, both attacks should be able to connect at roughly the same point and time. -Peanuts are great for distracting opponents who are recovering, try shooting a few to control the opponents recovery options and direction. -If you are sent into one of the far corners, try reversing the direction you are facing with the peanut gun and then firing it backward to give yourself extra horizontal distance. A longer charge will increase this horizontal distance. -Characters who attempt to use their multiple jumps to avoid bananas like MetaKnight or Kirby can be harassed with peanuts because of its arc. If that isn’t enough height using a standing shot, try short hopping and then firing. |
