Two Types of Stutter Stepping

![]() Type 1: By briefly smashing forward on the control stick before performing an S-Smash (though the timing is near simultaneous), Diddy will stutter, and then perform the attack. This stutter gives Diddy a little extra range that could be vital against some opponents. The extra range is almost double the range of an S-Smash that is not stutter stepped. Type 2: After Diddy Kong’s dash attack, there is left over momentum. During this time, you can actually turn around and face the opposite direction of the dash while still moving in the direction of the dash. This can be used to fake opponents out, they may see you turn around and not realize the momentum is still carrying over, after which you can turn back around, still with momentum, and hit them with a Smash attack. Holding the control stick in the direction of the dash before turning around will allow more sliding distance in that direction. |
