Hit Percent

![]() The hit percentage at the end of a match indicates the ratio between attacks landed and attacks missed, grabs will only count if they are landed (not if they are missed) and only if the throw is successful. This percentage should be your first indication in relation to how efficient you were during the match. Generally hit percents follow this approximation: Match heavily won: 40% or higher Match closely won: 35% Match closely lost: 30% Match heavily lost: 25% or lower Every player though will have slightly different standards based on their character and play style. A character like Falco would likely have a lower than average hit percent because of projectile use. A character like Bowser would likely have a higher than average hit percent because his attacks are slower and every hit has more weight and thought behind it. Hit percents rarely encroach on the 50% of higher mark unless the match is an absolute blowout. There are generally two reasons to explain this phenomenon. First, players will often send out attacks that are either meant to bait the opponent, create space, or keep the opponent at bay or in a desirable position. The second reason is that for every attack the opponent is actively attempting to read what is being performed and attempting to counter it, resulting in about a third to half the attacks that could hit being blocked or dodged. Check your hit percentage after every match you play and watch trends. Evaluate why your hit percent is what it is and ask yourself what you could do it improve it or what went wrong to cause it to drop in a specific match. |
