Edge Hogging

![]() Edge hogging refers to one character holding onto the edge of the stage so that the other character cannot grab on. Edge hogging in Brawl is substantially more difficult than it was in Melee and the process is slightly less straight forward. The trick against a recovering opponent is to use the instant edge hog technique (outlined in the advanced techniques section) to quickly grab the stage just before the opponent uses their Up-B maneuver. Since most character’s Up-B moves are also attacks then holding onto the stage without invincibility means you will be knocked off. Quickly grabbing the stage just before they use their Up-B means you can use your one second of invulnerability to successfully hog the edge. Tether recoveries, like Olimar’s Up-B, can be edge hogged regardless of invincibility. |
