 With merely three teams remaining in contention for the 2008 Rainbow Six Vegas 2 National Championship crown, Iconz and Instill Fear faced off in the Losers Bracket Finals. The winner of the match would earn the right to take on MoB Rage in the Finals, as well as the guarantee of no less than $8,000 in cash. Serving as a continuation from Winners Bracket Round 1, Iconz came into the match with a 3-0 advantage. The match turned out to be a quick a decisive statement as to who the better team was, as Iconz replicated their performance from yesterday to give them the 6-0 overall win. Here‚s a game by game breakdown of the action. The match kicked off on CQB Training Attack & Defend. Both teams had demonstrated strong play In A&D in the past, and this map would turn out to be the closest of the series. Iconz attacked first, where they went on to score with little effort. Instill did the same on their first attack, tying the map at 1-1. But in the end, it was Iconz who got the best of Instill, giving them the eventual 3-2 final score on CQB Training. With the series now at 4-0, the teams headed into Comcast Event Conquest. Iconz took the quick 2 satellite advantage, and managed to hold them well into the first two minutes of the game. Instill were eventual able to get a satellite of their own, but it was too little too late -- Iconz had won the first round 2-1. That brought us into the second round, where both teams bought for control of the center satellite. Although it was Iconz who got the initial control, Instill fought back hard to regain control and win the round and Game 5 at 1-1. With the map on the line, Iconz came out of the gates swinging, capturing every satellite, holding them for 30 seconds, and moving into the final map of the match with a 5-0 lead. That took us into what would turn out to be the final map of the match. With Instill Fear thoroughly battered, bruised, and discouraged, Iconz came into CQB Training with determination on their mind. Round after round, Iconz three-cap‚d within the first minute of the game, and went on to win the map and match by a 6-0 final tally. That sends Instill Fear home with a 3rd Place finish and a $4,000 paycheck. As for Iconz, the win means they‚ll move into the Finals to take on the seemingly unstoppable MoB Rage for the 2008 National Championship.
