Triangle Jumping

![]() Triangle jumping is a misnomer, because it refers to an old Melee tactic that doesn’t exist in its entirety in Brawl. The base inputs for triangle jumping in both Melee and Brawl have remained the same, which is why the technique has retained its name. To triangle jump, simply short hop by lightly pressing the X or Y-button, then air dodge by pressing the L or R-trigger, and fast fall by pressing down on the control stick. This will force your character to jump into the air and quickly dodge back down toward the ground. The key part about this technique is that from the height of your jump until you hit the ground you will be invincible from your air dodge. This is the most useful part of this technique, as you can use it to trick an opponent into attacking you. After they miss, you can punish their attack because you will have safely returned to the ground. This technique can also be used for minor adjustments to spacing with low risk. The key to using this as a spacing technique will be holding your control stick left or right just before you jump, causing a minor shift in momentum in the held direction. |
