Pokemon Stamina

![]() Squirtle, Ivysuar, and Charizard all have stamina: the amount of time they can effectively fight before they become tired and need to be swapped out. Stamina affects each Pokemon in the same way: by decreasing the damage of their attacks by roughly 2-3% (depending on stale moves/base attack strength). No other properties are affected, even if the Pokemon appears tired or fatigued. Each Pokemon will function at full strength for two minutes before they become tired. However, one second will be subtracted from this time frame for each special attack, tilt attack, Smash attack, or air attack a Pokemon performs. That means that if Squirtle performs 15 of these attacks that he will become tired in one minute and 45 seconds instead of two minutes. Taking a Pokemon out of play is known as sending them to your bench. A Pokemon in your bench will replenish its stamina at a rate of 2:1, that is for every one second it is on the bench two seconds of stamina will be restored. If a Pokemon is tired and rests on the bench for 30 seconds, when it is brought back out again it will be able to function for one minute before becoming tired again. Stamina is a large reason that most Pokemon Trainer players prefer to use all three Pokemon and rotate them roughly evenly. This method keeps each Pokemon functioning when they are fresh. In addition to this though rotating between each Pokemon causes the opposing player to change their tactics with each one, and if the opposing player doesn’t know how to combat any single Pokemon it will often spell disaster. |
