Recovering with Luigi

![]() Luigi is a hard character to edge guard because his recovery is so dynamic. For virtually any situation from any part of the stage, Luigi should be capable of safely recovering. The general procedure for recovering with Luigi is as follows: 1. Use his jump 2. Side-B as necessary for horizontal distance 3. Drop beneath the edge of the stage 4. Down-B for vertical distance 5. Up-B if further vertical distance is still needed Like all characters, Luigi has some extra tricks and nuances that can help his recovery in specific situations. Here are some of the more important notes regarding his recovery: • Luigi’s Down-B will gain more height by tapping B. The faster B is tapped during the move, the further vertical distance Luigi will travel • Luigi’s Side-B has a small (roughly 1/9th) chance of exploding. If an explosion occurs then Luigi will travel about three times the horizontal distance as normal. For this reason it is usually a good idea to Side-B at least once when attempting to recovery. • Luigi’s Neutral-B is a projectile that travels only horizontally. It can be used to remove or pester edge guarders if applied after a jump or after activating your Down-B. • The Down-B will only work once while in the air. You must touch the ground to reset the move. • The Side-B can automatically grab onto the edge. The positioning is tricky on some stages and if Luigi is aimed to high then instead of grabbing onto the edge he will simply stall and you will be forced to use your Down-B or Up-B. • It takes a lot of practice to gain height with the Down-B by repeatedly tapping the B-button. For whatever reason, the move is easier to perform after using your jump and without having used your Side-B. |
