![]() The Old Spice Rising Star Award is back for 2009, and the season-long race for the prize will continue this weekend in Columbus! Granted to the player who does the most over the course of a Pro Circuit season to elevate their prominence and stature in the pro gaming community, the Old Spice Rising Star Award is a monumental achievement to accomplish. Due to his outstanding play in the face of overwhelming odds, KIllerDrew was selected as the first Halo 3 Old Spice Rising Star Featured Contender of the 2009 Season. Heading into Meadowlands with the 15th seed, he was a driving force behind Heaven & Earth's stellar 6th Place finish. While the rest of his team had a cumulative kill/death spread of -79, KillerDrew managed to walk away with a +66 spread. In order to best predict which players to look out for at Columbus, MLG sat down with a couple of Instinct members to get their predictions on who the Columbus Old Spice Rising Star Featured Contender will be. When asked which players to watch out for, Neighbor quickly replied with the names Tetra Shot and Elumnite. Both are talented players and will be entering the tournament on amateur teams. They'll need to fight their way through the Open Bracket if they hope to have a shot at becoming the Old Spice Rising Star Featured Contender. When asked the same question, Roy quickly named Tensor as his player to watch out for: "I think that Tensor has a lot of potential to do well this event. The fact that he's on a team with Karma and Naded will help a lot, and playing through [the Open Bracket] will allow them to work on their teamwork. I think he's got a great chance to be a breakout player in Columbus." Be sure to tune in all weekend long as hundreds of up-and-coming players will fight it out for the chance to be named the Columbus Old Spice Featured Contender!
