![]() Much like Triggers Down two months prior, Str8 Rippin set the bar for the following event with their undeniably dominant play in Columbus. As the weekend rolled on, Tsquared and the rest of Str8 Rippin’s momentum began to increase by exponential amounts - culminating in the absolute destruction of Triggers Down in a 50-29 win on Narrows Team Slayer to end the tournament. Str8 Rippin is back in many ways, and this weekend proved to us why they’re considered the best Halo 3 team in the world.
Str8 Rippin dished out a level of domination rarely seen thus far in Halo 3. They didn’t drop a series throughout the entire weekend, and regained their spot as the Pro Circuit’s #1 seed.
Although second place isn’t too shabby, Triggers Down is finding it hard to look at their placing in Columbus as an accomplishment. In light of their first place finish in Meadowlands, TD returned to the limelight for the first time since the 2008 Playoffs in Dallas. Additionally, they established themselves atop the MLG Pro Circuit’s rankings for the first time in their career - A place that Str8 Rippin had continuously held for nearly 12 months prior to Columbus. TD looked comfortable in their own skin for the very first time, but that all changed this past weekend. Triggers Down made it all the way into the Winners Bracket Finals before being defeated at the hand of Str8 Rippin in a 3-1 final tally. Although this guaranteed them a Top 3 finish, this was not acceptable for the reigning Meadowlands champs. They went on to defeat Final Boss in the Losers Bracket Finals, which sent them into the Finals to take on Str8 Rippin once more. Despite starting off the final series with a 3-1 deficit, we saw them overcome even greater odds against Instinct in the Meadowlands Finals, and no one would have been surprised to see them turn the tables on Str8. However, that never came to be. Str8 Rippin went on to make a bold statement in that final series as they ended it in just three short games - two Team Slayers and one Capture the Flag. All things considered, expect TD to come back in Dallas with a chip on their shoulder and looking stronger than ever. |
