Ghostayame explains why he left Carbon and his first impressions of Instinct
Ghostayame: "I’ve been with Carbon for three years now, and I’ve always stuck with Shockwave. However, we haven’t really been placing too well for the past year, so I’ve just really had my mind focused on school. Recently I took the last semester off to pretty much decide whether or not I wanted to pursue gaming - And after Columbus, that placing made me decide to just move on and finish college. I left Columbus on Sunday night, and I had no idea until Monday evening that Instinct was interested in me. I had even told my entire team that I was probably going to quit, because school started on the 21st (of August) and the next event was on the 28th. But the reason I left Carbon was more of a moral judgment on my own part, rather than because I didn’t want to team with those guys anymore. When I had the offer from Instinct to play with Neighbor, Roy, and Lunchbox and a pretty much guaranteed Top 4 performance - It was what I wanted to do. So I decided to pursue gaming for the remainder of my contract and I hope to do well.
So far, we’ve already started getting online, practicing, going through theatre, running scrims and everything. It feels great. Neighbor just snipes everything, Roy has a nasty BR and just controls, and Lunchbox is always there. I guess you could say it’s just a little bit more of an individually talented team than the last one I was on. I’m getting to know their strats and they’re asking me to tell them all of mine, so it’s looking pretty good thus far."
Roy touches on Walshy and the addition of Ghostayame
Roy: "It all just kind of comes down to the past two events. We’ve only won two Team Slayer games in the past two tournaments in Meadowlands and Columbus. We felt that to take our game to the next level and actually win a tournament, we’re obviously going to have to win Team Slayer games, and we felt like it was necessary to make a change in order to do that; because something obviously wasn’t right, and something obviously wasn’t clicking.
All of us, especially after LAN’ing with them [Carbon], decided that [Ghost] was a really smart player and was a big reason why Carbon was doing even as well as they did. He was definitely one of our top prospects. We were looking at him and a few other players, but he was definitely at the top of our list. We asked him, he agreed, and everything worked out well. ”
