zNightMarE Gives His MLG Dallas Halo 3 Predictions
By Lies | Published: August 25, 2009 12:14am EST
With only a few days remaining until MLG Dallas kicks off, we're here to bring you some MLG Player Predictions. We'll continue to roll out Dallas predictions from some of MLG's up-and-coming players over the next few days, so be sure to keep your eyes locked to the homepage!

In this edition of Dallas Player Predictions, zNightmare of Escape the Fate gives his thoughts on the Dallas Halo 3 Live Competition. Check out his picks below and be sure to give your own in our forums!

zNightmare (third from the left) picks Triggers Down to take home the crown in Dallas.

1. Triggers Down -- Triggers Down is going to breeze through High Life, as well as Status Quo before coming to their first difficult match of the tournament. In Winners Bracket Round 3, Triggers Down is set to play Instinct. Triggers Down has won 55.6% of the time against Instinct throughout their career, so it's bound to be a close match. However, Instinct has the best roster they have ever had in my opinion, so this stands to be one of the best series at the event. I see tD pulling through in this one. As a result, they will play Str8 Rippin in the Winners Bracket Finals, where I think that they will win 3-2. Game 5 could go either way, and both teams will be giving 100%. However, after losing the Columbus competition tD will be looking for vengeance, and that's exactly how they're going to be playing against Str8 Rippin. That will guarantee Triggers Down a Top 2 finish, something they've had at both events this season. I see them playing Str8 Rippin again in the Finals, losing the first series, and coming back to win the second one in convincing fashion.

2. Str8 Rippin -- Str8 also has an easy Winners Bracket Round 1 match-up against Pistol and the Jets, which I believe will be a 3-0. It will be somewhat similar to their Darkest Hour match-up at Columbus. In Winners Bracket Round 2, Str8 is set to play Believe The Hype. Believe The Hype underwent a last minute team change, replacing Sypher with Maniac, who, in my opinion, is a big downgrade. Not only is Maniac a weaker player, but this team change happened so close to the event that I believe this team has no shot at beating Str8 Rippin in WBR2. At best they will take one game. In Winners Bracket Round 3 I see Str8 Rippin playing Carbon, not Final Boss. Carbon has been more dedicated, and seems like a more together team than Final Boss is. Also, Walshy hasn't lost to Final Boss in years, so I don't see that changing any time soon with the new Carbon roster. Str8, however, will beat Carbon in Game 5. For some reason, Str8 seems to have a mental block against Carbon. They always seem to have very close series that are explosive and exciting to watch, due to how they swing back and forth when Str8 is expected to win easily. In the Winners Bracket Finals they would face Triggers Down, and lose because of the reasons I stated under my prediction for Triggers Down. They would play Instinct in the Losers Bracket Finals, and win 3-2. This would put them in the Finals, where they would come out on fire and take the first series. After that however, I see them going downhill and getting beaten in a convincing fashion in the second series.

3. Instinct -- This is the best Instinct roster to date; However, I believe that Triggers Down and Str8 Rippin are too powerful for Instinct to just walk through. Instinct will beat Overnight Sensation, and will come out on fire against Classic to get their revenge for their untimely exit to them at Columbus. After this they will meet an on fire Triggers Down, and although this series will definitely go to Game 5, I see Triggers Down coming away with the victory. Instinct would then fall to the Losers Bracket and play Final Boss for Top 4, a match-up I see Instinct pulling through in based on their recent LAN scores with Final Boss, and the fact that Instinct was beating Final Boss with Walshy, and now has Ghostayame, an upgrade in my book. After they beat Final Boss, they advance to play Carbon for Top 3. I think that at this point Carbon will be out of fuel, and they will lose their fire that brought them to this point in the tournament. Instinct will win 3-1, and advance to play Str8 Rippin in the Losers Bracket Finals. Str8 Rippin will take them out in Game 5. The match-up is pretty even, and could go either way, but after losing to Triggers Down in the Winners Bracket Finals, I believe that Str8 Rippin is going to be playing the best Halo of their lives until the second series of the Finals.

4. Carbon -- This. Team. Will. Catch. Fire. They are going to start out on fire, and they will ride that straight through Final Boss. Carbon wrecked at their Pre-Event LAN against Classic, and Final Boss is struggling immensely against Instinct, losing the second series of the LAN 10-1. I see Carbon running over FB, and then taking Str8 to Game 5 off of their momentum. They will lose, however, and they will play Classic in the Losers Bracket for Top 4. Judging off of their LAN against Classic, and the endless experience of their entire squad, I see Carbon taking the victory 3-1. After they beat Classic they will meet a hot Instinct, and this is where I see their fire burning out. Instinct will most likely get inside Walshy's head, and on top of that, Instinct has more raw skill than Carbon does, as well as teamwork. I see this series ending 3-1.

5. Final Boss -- It's a shame that it's come to this from the days where you would immediately place Final Boss in the Top 2 when making predictions. This squad will not work, and it's evident in their LAN against Instinct. StrongSide needs to come out of Status Quo mode and play like more of a team player. Dropping Mackeo was not a good move in my honest opinion. Final Boss will obviously truck through Overlooked, a team that will most likely not win a game at all this tournament. After that series, they will fall to Carbon. A loss this early in the Winners Bracket means that Final Boss will fall to the Placement Bracket, where they will beat Heaven and Earth. After this they will play for Top 8. They will win easily, and then play Believe the Hype for Top 6. I see them beating Believe the Hype for the same reasons I see Str8 Rippin beating them. They are a last minute squad, and Maniac is a downgrade from Sypher. At this point, Final Boss will play Instinct. Instinct will win for the reasons I stated under my prediction for their team. After exiting the tournament, Final Boss will play Classic in consolation, and they will win without a problem.

6. Classic -- Classic is not going to get Top 4. Their win against Instinct at Columbus was a fluke. This will be shown clearly when they get beaten with ease in Winners Bracket Round 2. Instinct will be completely on fire, and Classic will not stand a chance. After losing, they will play Dynasty in Placement Bracket, and will win. Dynasty has a chance, but they will have to be destroying if they want to win. After this, Classic plays a team for top 8, and will most likely win. After that they will play Status Quo, who they will beat 3-1. I've heard Status Quo is much better with Clutch than StrongSide, but that won't be enough to stop Classic. After this they will lose to Carbon. They lost badly at the LAN against Carbon, and I see Carbon's experience, and raw skill being better than Classic's any day. After losing, they will lose to Final Boss in consolation.

7. Believe The Hype -- Soviet and Cloud are incredible. That's about all I have to say for this team. Maniac is not as good as Sypher, and Demon D has yet to impress me. Believe the Hype could place higher because Maniac is better than Clutch, but with the bracket presented them, I can only see 7th. They will beat End Result Winners Bracket Round 1, lose to Str8 Rippin, beat Ambush in Placement Bracket Round 2, win for top 8, and lose to Final Boss.

8. Status Quo -- I can't see them getting any higher than 7th. I've heard from numerous sources that Clutch has made their team much better than they were with StrongSide, due to his role as a team player. However, I don't see this helping them in their series against Triggers Down and Classic, the two teams that they will lose to. I do see them beating a very strong Ambush in Winners Bracket Round 1 in a close series. That series will be the best WBR1 match-up. After that they will get 3-0'd by Triggers Down, beat a team for top 8, and then lose to Classic, who I believe is much stronger of a roster. In consolation they will play Believe The Hype, where they will lose. Believe The Hype is definitely worse than they were with Sypher, but 3rd place, and 6th place cannot be denied. They're still better with Maniac than they were with Clutch though. Also, I see Clutch choking extremely hard against his former team, and that will cost them the series.
