As MLG Dallas grows closer and closer to kick-off, we sat down with tSinc of vVv Vision to get an insider’s look at how this weekend’s Gears of War 2 competition could play out. Serving as the first of a two part series, tSinc chronicles his picks for the bottom half of the Top 8 from the point of view of a player. Check it out!
As a former member of MoB Deep and PT Retaliation, tSinc (second from back) has never placed lower than 4th thus far in Gears of War 2.
tSinc’s Predictions: 5th - Legacy: We had the pleasure of competing against this team recently, where I learned their team solely revolved around Fallout's host. I hope this teams playing style won't revolve around what Fallout will and won't be capable of doing on LAN. With Terror and Fallout leading the team, they have a strong core of organization. But after watching Terror's recordings of our recent match, I realized Perfect Uno loses many rounds for their team. Regardless of Uno's 'slump', in order for this team to get the quality of practice they truly need they will need him to overcome his recent struggles and do so abruptly. During and after Columbus I have been impressed with Ribs hit or miss / aggressive playing style, and am interested to see whether it will work during Dallas. As well, I would categorize Terror as a top ten player both skill wise and mentally. He's where he needs to be, and has a good sense of self-awareness. Fallout and I have had our differences, but he is still a respectable player. However, he seems dependent on the melee in many instances. His support is on-point and his communication is superb. The key to their success will be avoiding unnecessary moves and 1v1’s, while remaining calm and collected. 6th - vVv The Truth: Overall this team is pretty good. They have a solid lineup: Rage, Monster, DLy, and Enmity. But without actually playing on the team, I'm not sure how capable Monster is of leading them to a Top 4 finish. Rage has a solid shotgun, but I'm not sure what he's up to par with on the rest of his game. Monster and DLy have now had two events to play with one another and have built a solid chemistry that will be an attribute to this team's skill and cooperation. Enmity was a wise choice to host for this team over DLy in my opinion, and he has displayed a good understanding of the game. As long as this team takes each round one at a time, they should have a respectable chance at taking down Raw Talent in Winners Bracket Round 2. I predict vVv The Truth to place around 6th. 7th - pT ReTaLiaTioN I'd like to start off by stating that I do not believe this team will exist after Dallas. I think a first round loss to us (vVv Vision) is going to kill their morale. Yes, I'm telling you we will beat them. Drix has impressed me every time I have played with him, but it's for sure that his lack of dedication will not only bring himself down, but also Shocka - who derives a great deal of motivation and comfort while playing with Drix. Rain has many attributes to his game: a very consistent shotgun that is extremely hard to beat on host, a solid lancer that is another great factor to have on host, and also a solid core of communication. Shocka and Bullet are the emotional side of the team, but still possess a good amount of skill. I don't underestimate this team, but the initial weeks of practice for a newly formed team to establish team chemistry is not something I’m sure they've had enough of. Second to chemistry comes the team’s ability to read and understand their opponent - which they also have not had enough time to do. Anything is possible in a week, but these next several days will determine their confidence and structure going into the event. I don’t see ReTaLiaTioN placing lower than Top 8, but place them at 7th for the event. 8th - vVv LTZ It's hard to really get a feel for this team. Wildebeast is certainly a good host, but how greatly does online-play influence this? Eternity lives on the west coast and I've been impressed by his consistency online under the latency he plays under. He is an overall solid player with good shotgun skills, a solid support, and an above average game with power weapons. As for Wingos - I don't really know. The kid's confident with himself, but I've heard he's an online warrior, and I can vouch for that. Crimbo is decent, but from his past history on LAN I've heard he slacks. I believe this team on LAN will be host dependent, but their seed will place them between 5th and 8th, primarily 8th. Stay tuned for Part II of my predictions where I’ll give you my picks for the Top 4, and a look into what to expect from my team, vVv Vision. |
