As MLG Dallas grows closer and closer to kick-off, we sat down with tSinc of vVv Vision to get an insider’s look at how this weekend’s Gears of War 2 competition could play out. Wrapping up our two part series with tSinc, check out his picks for the top half of the Top 8 from the perspective of someone’s who has been there. tSinc (second from right) gives us a detailed look at how the competition is stacking up for MLG Dallas.
1st - Murder by Numbers: Prospect and Jae are two incomparable leaders with a great deal of dedication. In my opinion, neither player has really any flaws to their game. ZKiller is one of the most underrated players in the game in my opinion. From watching his game play and his VoDs, he plays each of his spots very well and with a great deal of wisdom. His playing style in the beginning of the game resembled the rest of the NSAN3Z - aggressive. But through the mentoring from the rest of his team he has controlled his game. Prison and I teamed briefly before Meadowlands, but with late news of a conflict in schedules with Meadowlands and baseball - the team fell apart. Through our brief association I was able to observe and apply the positives within his style of play to my own game. Prison's game appears to have a great deal of self-awareness, just like the rest of MbN, and it makes his game on and off host just that much better. Despite what people may believe of their lack of practice, this team will have no problem showing up to Dallas as the same Murder by Numbers we saw in Columbus. I believe this team to be placing nowhere less than Top 2. 2nd - The NSAN3Z: We've had the opportunity to spend a tremendous amount of time practicing against this team and it surely has improved our game in many aspects. The NSAN3Z were the biggest threat to the circuit prior to Meadowlands. They were always the team to beat, as their dedication and preparation overwhelmed many other top teams. On the contrary, things have changed. It appears this team enjoys the satisfaction of winning online (not to say that every other team doesn't), but they let this interfere with their game. They have a tendency to reveal a lot of their strategies and teams have begun taking advantage of this - Murder by Numbers especially, as we saw a counter to nearly every one of the NSAN3Z trick strategies. The team is well led by Predator, and his wisdom has brought this team to new levels. Killa is still a top host in the game, and this is always a superior feature for any top team. Between Nick and GoD, I believe these two have the strongest shotguns on the team and it creates a great balance between their aggression and defensive playing styles. Hypothetically, I imagine this team will be facing off against Infinity in Winners Bracket Round 2, but Infinity is certainly no team to look past. The winner of this match will make it to Winners Bracket Finals. I see the NSAN3Z placing third, but could easily contest for 1st or 2nd. 3rd - Raw Talent: I put this team under Murder by Numbers and The NSAN3Z, but they are just as organized and collected as the previously mentioned teams. Under the leadership of Immortal Spawn - a very intelligent player with the potential to lead his team to a great placing - I see this team consistently doing well for the rest of the season. I don't know a great deal about each player and their game, but I can tell you that Cubano is a consistent host with a steady pistol. Their communication is their greatest attribute - an aspect that can't be underestimated in this game, and they appear aware the majority of time. Despite the fact that they may not be the most compellingly individually skilled team, their team fire and organization certainly make up for this. The downfall of this team will be their lack of individual skill, but as long as their teamwork prevails I see this team placing in the Top 4 (4th to be precise) unless they are upset by The Truth in Winners Bracket Round 2. 4th - Infinity: I suppose G3N371X leads the team, but in order for them to perform in comparison to the team they were in Gears of War 1, they're going to need to establish a better form of communication and outgrow their mute personalities. Atmo a.k.a. Amaze is without a doubt a top two player in this game, but hasn't had the consistency of his team to compliment his aggressive playing style. G3N371X is a skilled player with a great deal of wisdom in this game and can bring this team to a great finish in Dallas. Requiem has always been a consistent player, and caught my attention immediately from playing against him while he was on the original Murder by Numbers. I understand Mephisto has a great deal of respect for his playing style and I would have to agree, as he performs well in his spots. Now many people have been in-confident with Infinity's pickup of ZeRoXcel due to the fact that it was a last minute decision in order to attend the event. However, this will not be the deciding factor of their final placing. Xcel is still a talented player with great skill and experience with power weapons. Although from playing them lately, he is still their weakest link. In order to abolish this problem, he needs to become more comfortable and understanding with his spots. As well, I believe his shotgun game is much weaker than the rest of his team. With a week left, if Xcel is able to polish and fine-tune his game - I see this team doing impressive things, potentially taking down the NSAN3Z. If Infinity shows up to play to their potential I can see this team placing anywhere from 2nd to 5th. I wanted to make my predictions as impartial as possible, so I purposely decided to leave my team, vVv Vision, out of my predictions. Instead, here’s a little bit about us and what you can expect to see in Dallas: vVv Vision: This team is the best, most talented, and most organized team I’ve ever been on. Starting from the top, Mistar P, also known as PuFF, is captain of our team and one of - if not the best player in the game. After I had already teamed with PuFF for Columbus, and having placed 4th, I believe the chemistry between us two is considerably strong and requires less work than most players. This aspect has solidified our strategies on both a skill and mental level, making our job and preparation for Dallas much easier. Franchise (FraNCh1S) is as well another great asset to any team. With having already teamed with Franchise for Meadowlands, and also placing 4th at that event, the chemistry and rationale between us is solid. Lastly, Mephisto, a newly acquired teammate of mine, has proven to be an exceptional all around player with great skills with power weapons, support, shotgun, communication, and the list could go on. Vision is an exceptional team, but there are two large aspects that could potentially hold us back. One is our seed. Having the 12th seed gives 85% of the teams we could potentially play seed over us. This could be a huge factor for most teams, however, with the time we’ve spent perfecting our game, I see it as a small stepping stone we can easily overcome to win the event. A second factor that could potentially break us down is our emotions. It’s apparent that online, the majority of us can get easily frustrated over the shenanigans this game throws at you. Which is why it’s essential to overcome these emotions on LAN and continue to look towards winning rather than dwelling on the past. Going into Dallas I’m more confident than ever and could see us placing anywhere in the Top 8. However, I believe that if each of us plays to our potential than there should be nothing holding us back from winning Dallas. |
