Behind the Match-Up: Anaheim Part 3

Since the retirement of Ogre 1 from Final Boss, the team has only managed to place within the Top 4 one time. The legacy of the team still lives on, but the days of Final Boss as a Pro Circuit powerhouse have seemingly come and gone. Final Boss, once known for roster stability, as well as talent, now seems about as stable as a three legged chair. FearItSelf chose to depart from the team after Dallas, hoping to be a part of Instinct's success. In the wake of his departure, Ogre 2, Victory X, and Strongside moved to pick-up Soviet, who seemed to be on his way out of the league after leaving Believe the Hype. 
Will Anaheim mark Final Boss' return to greatness?
Final Boss is still a contender; don't let the above misconstrue that fact. FB fans are eagerly awaiting the squad's return to glory, and with another strong slayer now on-board in Soviet, Anaheim could be that event. In their second round match, Final Boss expects to take on Believe The Hype, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Believe The Hype has a monster of a first round match waiting for them in Anaheim, as they'll take on a Dynasty squad who has looked more than solid as of late. Dynasty is coming off of a Top 8 finish, while Believe The Hype finished 9th and did not look all that impressive. It was Believe the Hype who ultimately gave Under The Influence a Top 8 finish, after being eliminated by the talented amateur team late in Dallas. Still though, as we've done throughout this entire series of articles, we'll assume the two highest seeds have advanced to the second round. Believe The Hype and Final Boss have met twice in Halo 3's history. Who can forget the most memorable of the two, a crushing 3-0 upset of FB by BTH at San Diego last year? FB came into the event with the first seed, hot off of the first Championship in Halo 3 history. Now, Soviet and the rest of Final Boss will do battle with Believe The Hype in Anaheim. Let's take a quick look at how a possible WBR2 series could play out… |
