![]() MLG is back on the West Coast, making a return to Anaheim for the first time in three years. With rosters now locked for the remainder of the 2009 Pro Circuit, Anaheim will serve as a preview of what's to come at the National Championships in Orlando in January. Let's jump right into it. Triggers Down is coming into the event as the odds on favorite. As much as it seems the community has attempted to try, you can't forget about the display of skill they put on in Dallas. However, as we've pointed out before, no team has ever managed to win consecutive Halo 3 events. Triggers Down is confident that they'll be able to break the streak, but they'll have over 200 other teams gunning for the title. The most notable of these teams is Str8 Rippin, a team who has won alternating Live Competitions since the Halo 3 replaced Halo 2 on the MLG Pro Circuit. They're bringing the same roster that took fourth in Dallas, and with a chip on their shoulder, you should expect them to come out guns blazing. They're coming off of a 4th place finish, their second of the season. With the National Championships right around the corner, Str8 needs to show up to Anaheim and prove they're still one of the top teams on the Pro Circuit. Holding the third seed is Instinct. After finishing third in Dallas, Instinct made the decision to part ways with Ghostayame and bring on FearItSelf in his place. Lunchbox and Roy are quite familiar with their latest pickup, as the three had originally teamed on the talented 5K roster in Halo 2. Having past experience with one another will surely help the transition process, but you have to wonder if making a roster change will set them back a bit. Still though, Instinct is a team who's just waiting to break into the elite company of Str8, TD, and FB -- the only three teams to hold Halo 3Championship titles. Rounding out the Top 4 is Final Boss, now sporting Soviet instead of FearItSelf. Final Boss has looked good all year, but never great. FB fans are getting restless, hoping that Soviet is the key piece that will return the team to Championship form. With players like Ogre 2, Strongside, and Victory X filling out the roster, you've got to imagine they'll break through sometime soon. Maybe a new set of gametypes combined with a powerful slayer will be just the boost they need. |
