Top Halo 3 Teams Hold Strong Through Day 1 in Anaheim

![]() Friday night has come to a close here in Anaheim, and just about every higher seeded team has won their matchups. One lone exception was Believe the Hype, who lost to Dynasty in their WBR1 match. There were some shaky starts from a few teams, but they all managed to pull it out in the end and no series went to game five. Final Boss started the night off with a 3-0 loss to Relapse on Narrows flag. However, they snapped out of it, warmed up, and then won the next three games. OGRE 2 had a very impressive double no scope down the Long Hall in the Pit TS game and had an extermination in the Heretic game. Victory X also threw down an impressive 41 kills on Heretic to lead them to a 244-127 win in Game 3. If Final Boss can come out playing one hundred percent from the beginning of each series for the rest of the weekend, they will be a force to be reckoned with. Instinct seemed to suffer the same fate as Final Boss, losing their first match to Swagger Like Us and then coming back and winning the next three games. Game 2 was close until Roy had a ridiculous overkill at about the 40 kill mark. Following the impressive display, Instinct ran away with the game, taking it by score of 50-39. Instinct finally clicked and they took control of Game 3. Roy proved a point at the end by running the ball Top Middle for the last few seconds and essentially declaring, “You can’t touch this." Triggers Down had the same fate as Final Boss and Instinct, losing the first game before taking the next three against Active Rush. Are top teams not taking Friday seriously or is Narrows CTF just a rough gametype for some of the top teams? Carbon faced off against the The Influence and had a pretty solid showing, although there was a tie on Heretic Oddball, causing Game 3 to be replayed. Carbon went on to take the replayed game 250-108. Str8 Rippin easily took out North of 49 in a quick and commanding three games. Str8 Rippin made a point this series and they are definitely for real this tournament. They should not be underestimated in any way this event. One of the most anticipated matches of the night was between Status Quo and Heaven and Earth. The match wasn't as close as most people would imagine, as Status Quo absolutely dominated every game. They all have the skill, that’s been proven, but can they find the teamwork in time for tomorrow? On the other side of the spectrum was the only upset of the night; Dynasty defeated Believe the Hype three games to one. Believe the Hype went on to battle Relapse in Placement Bracket Round 1 and came out on top with the 3-0 win. Hopefully they can use this momentum to propel them into tomorrow. Play resumes tomorrow at 10 am PT as the competition grows even more intense. |
