![]() The top two seeds met in the Winners Bracket Finals in Anaheim and many predicted an extremely close match. Through the first two games of the series, top-seeded Triggers Down looked as if they wanted to end it all in three games. Triggers Down took Game 1, Capture the Flag Onslaught, 5-3. Str8 held a 3-1 lead, but Heinz led TD back with a 29-25 game that included 30 assists. The action moved to Narrows next for Team Slayer. Triggers Down jumped to a decent lead early and never relented. Pistola's 18-11 game and Hysteria's 14-8 performance powered TD to a 50-43 win. The top seed was one win from a sweep of Str8 and the Championship Match. Str8 started the rally in Game 3. They took King of the Hill Construct by dominating the final minute after the teams had changed leads several times during the first part of the match. The 250-213 win kept the second-seeded squad alive. Game 4's Capture the Flag on The Pit was a wild one. The teams split the first two scores before TD went up 2-1. Triggers Down seemed to have the game in hand, as they were playing well, until SK inexplicably attempted a solo flag run with the rest of his team on death screen. Str8 easily stymied the attempt and turned it into a counter-offensive, tying the game at 2-2. TD could never regain traction, and a minute later, Str8 scored again to win 3-2, evening the series at two games apiece. Game 5 was a bit disappointing, as Triggers Down produced a fast-paced game, grabbing an early near double-digit lead that they never relinquished. Str8 were unable to change the pace of the game or shift gears, forcing them to trade kills and keeping them from making a significant run. Despite Elamite's excellent performance - 18 kills to a mere 12 deaths - Str8 could not complete the series comeback, losing 50-44. Triggers Down took the series 3-2 and now wait for an opponent in the Championship Match. Str8, meanwhile, move to the Losers Bracket where they'll take on Carbon. |
