I was thinking about forge and all the cool things that could happen with it but the one thing that i think about the most is the ability to have camera men in a live game using forge. This would work better on lan then live but imagine 4 or 5 cameras floating around (like 5 guilty sparks) on a map while your playing at an MLG event, hopefully they are not getting in the way of the action but rather recording it live, with dramatic angles using cinematography. This also gives a much more user friendly way to watch a match LIVE while getting to see all the action as opposed to one single view. I say LIVE, because it would be like watching something live on TV like the superbowl. If it wasn't live then you could just go in on a saved game and edit everything using the saved film feature.

I think this would also eliminate the host advantage between teams and players as a cameraman would have host. Anyways like i said this would only work best for VOD and Live events, but its still kinda cool to think about.

Very interesting ideas. We shall see in the coming months if all of this is plausable. Good thinking though!

If I remember correctly you can only have up to 8 players in forge at a time so that would mean we couldn't do 4v4 and have camera men in forge. also i think the ability to change into a monitor is assigned to a button meaning that one of the buttons like equipment or switch grenades can not be used.

On top of that the chances that the monitors could distract or even accidentally interact (them being destroyable and things actually on the map) with the other players could cause a lot of problems and grieve.

sorry if i got this info wrong as I'm calling all this info purely on memory at the moment.

You can detatch the camera when you're watching a replay and get the same effect without the problems.

In the beta there was a spectator option (white team)

But it didnt work (because it was the beta)

It would be distracting to those in the game if people flew around as monitors. I think I read that only 2 monitors per game too. Plus a lot of people want first person views anyways (me included).

your right but i think the guy said up on the d-pad not a button like X or B or anything so you couldn't talk but if it's a lan then it won't matter anyway good idea Digs but I'm gonna agree with z13k

If thats true, then thats really good news for neutral hosts maybe...

It wouldnt work because if your in monitor mode or whatever your body is still visable and able to die...

To those thinking it's not going to be plausible due to player number limitations, it's actually up to 8 players in a match with up to two "monitors" editing the level in real-time.

However, I also think that the Forge option (going off of all of the tidbits of info released about Forge at this time) only allows for an untimed game of Team Slayer to be played. As in, I don't think you can have full-fledged objective gametypes or anything else. The untimed TS is just a way for players to interact and do more testing, if you will, instead of having to tweak some options and then see how it plays out afterwards. So, it's not really going to happen from what's been told thus far but we'll see in the final version.

Great idea regardless though. I would imagine if there was some very fluid camera work done by people who knew what to look for and what spectators would be most interested in seeing, it could be one of the most revolutionary aspects of VoD yet.

I'm still wondering why the monitor is able to be killed, seems kinda stupid to me, maybe you can set the monitor to be invulnerable to damage or something.

It's so we can get some sort of redemption for all of those times we attempted to annihilate him while running through "The Library."

I know for a fact that there is a spectator mode. When the custom game options were unlocked, switching to white team put you on the spectator team (but you couldnt see anything, it wasnt added into the beta) There was also an option to disable/enable spectators.
