View Full Version : Possible problem with Forge?

I love the idea of setting up good spawns and just overall fixing any level you want but will there be any way to send/receive edited maps? Otherwise, I could imagine it being hard to practice for an MLG event with normal maps then having to get used to the new, custom spawning designed by MLG. So yeah, just wondering if something has been said about that and maybe I missed it or if not, post what do you think will end up happening with the issue.

I vaguely remember reading something that said yes. Like a "popular gametypes" playlist or something that you can dl from. At least thats the impression I've had for a while now.

You can upload maps into your public share, so anyone on your list can download them.

im just hopin its no where near like farcry. the designer was ALRIGHT, but every match you joined would be a new made map from someone, so finding 1 game took like 20 minutes so u cud dl the map
I'm sure Bungie anticipated that kind of a problem.
Also, with the new fuction of being able to search for Custom Games, you can probably rule out anything but standard maps if you want.

Thanks guys, nice to know. But I think this this will make things a lot rougher online facing random people. I mean imagine some random bk setting up the spawns and weapons so his team is stacked and they can just spawn kill you with power weapons... So yeah, I think you will have to be more cautious if you want to play custom maps.

mlg will probably do their best with what bungie gives them and try to keep editing to a minimal so that its easier to practice without having to deal with one minor tweak. there will probably be more tweaks over time as the game is played though

I'm expecting MLG to have one or two official gamertags up for people to download the maps and gametypes from.

You mean MLG? Download the official MLG maps from a MLG gamertag...

Yeah, Bungie said you can actually upload the gametype/map varient to even b.net, where others can see the configuration. I believe that there is also a community function in halo 3 where there will be a list of all the popular custom gamestypes. An example, a featured custom playlist by MLG, configuration files for each map, it looks as though forge is going to be really easy to use.
Lastly, you can send your map configuration to anyone on your friendslist or recnet players, they save the file and they now have your gametype.

Where did you hear this? Last Bungie said it didn't sound to me to be the case.

Custom games were available in the beta. You just needed to have other friends playing customs. It was like a giant chain...

There is, in addition to what we saw in the Beta, another option listed. The other option definitely exists; its name and features I don't know - but it was a grayed-out part of the menu supposedly reserved for the Customs Matchmaking.

Social Match or something like that if I remember correctly.

I think I remember an option available where you could upload maps and anyone could download it, so there goes that problem. :)

Yeah, I think I've seen in some of the early video's, and custom games list, hopefully this option will allows users to find specific custom games, that way I don't have to use XBC to play FFA's.

Dan Chosich asks,
1) Is there a kind of server list (browser) for custom games?
2) Is the Halo Xbox 360 using the 65 nm chip?
3) Does the game support 1080p?
4) Can I make my Spartan / Elite black?
5) Is the armor from Halo 1 unlockable or available Halo 3?
6) In speaking to the press, has Bungie revealed all the available multiplayer weapons, vehicles and equipment currently available in Halo 3? Or could there more surprises?
7) Can you change the weather or time of day in multiplayer?
1) No, we use an improved version of Halo 3 Public Beta’s matchmaking with far more options.
2) No idea.
3) Yes, if your system does – through component or HDMI (depending on your TV and 360) and it is (wonderfully) scaled.
4) Not quite. But darker colors are available.
5) We have many unrevealed armor perms, all of which are secret right now.
6) There are surprises left.
7) Nope.
This is what I was referring to. I guess the "far more options" could be some different kind of custom game searching more similar to the matchmaking screens... I guess we will wait to find out. I hope you are right!!
